My answer: the leaf springs come on the original kit (#58048) fix with 3 leafs for each spring and I am using these original ones... So on these it's not optional - it was even not optional on the later version "Mountaineer" #58111 issued 1992. It seems like you have this option on the Bruiser re-issue (#58519) ...cheers!

Hi there! You can buy the Re-issue of the Bruiser (Kit.No.: 58519) easily anywhere where they sell RC. This original one from '85 (Kit.No.: 58048) you probably will find on youtube or similar pages. I got this one privately from a friend. Hope this helps! best regards!
Hi & thx for your comment! It's true that the old model has the 750 Motor....but I haven't experienced the re-re so far and with the new engine they built etc. I actually don't know which has effectively more torque....but also yes, by definition the 750 comes up with more power...best regards!
Hi, saw this video and brought back memories as I remembered that my brother bought and built one of these original bruisers when they came out in 1985. I went over to my parents house today , and sure enough it was sitting in the attic looking good except for copious amounts of dust etc. I took it home gave it a quick brush -off and gave it a once over inspection all looked good save for perished rubber "inspection" holes on the transmission. Anyway grabbed a 7.4V 5.2Ah liPo and gave it a quick test - all was good and drivetrain worked fine. Bearings still seem smooth etc. A good project for update with new R/C system and ESC etc. I can't believe how solid these where/are - all steel including gears and transmission cases!. Any ideas where to get a hold of new parts such as those rubber caps, tyres etc? Also, I found the original box and the unit has model number #5848 printed on it, I guess it's the same?

So, parts could be found on this re-issue on resellers or in the web. But man, how lucky you are that yours was still there at your parents house..., like a hidden Treasury :-) ! Hi there ! Yes, the motor and the Transmission are different. The vintage has a RS-750SH brushed Motor, reissue a RS-540 brushed. Transmission has been newly designed by Tamiya. Rest of the Chassis is more or less same though. best regards

Actually, the camera (Sony NXCAM HXR NX5U) has just a slowmotion mode for recording. It's about 0.4 from normal speed...
