    Good information! I'm old enough to remember when everyone I knew shot Muzzy or NAP Thunderheads. I know two, who are still taking deer with Thunderheads. Times have changed, however! I can't imagine using a quiver full of different broadheads during a bear hunt, but it sounds like it's been done. How many different arrows/broadheads were left in your quiver that day? LOL!
    Personally, I shot 3-blades Muzzy broadheads for decades, but I switched to Slick Trick Viper Tricks when I dropped down to a 60 pound compound bow some years back. I found your take on the Slick Trick Magnums to be interesting. The Magnum was the Slick Trick's original broadhead (2000), & the Standard appeared in 2005. I would have never considered paying extra for the SS models. After what you shared, one has to wonder what's gained by using them?
    It's interesting to hear one's take on different broadheads. Good information for those looking for something new. Thanks for sharing!

    • @Chestthumperoutdoors
      @Chestthumperoutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      Muzzy and Thunderheads have felled more animals than any other broadhead out there!
      I usually hunt with a quiver full of different broadheads. When they all hit same POI no reason not to. On that bear hunt I emptied my quiver 5 arrows, but it got the job done!
      The advantage of the SS is that they don't rust and the original ferules will. Also, marketing.

      @kalelandis8284 I did that for 29 years, including a bare recurve. Now, I'm all about using the easiest, legal method to fill tags. The DNR is desperate to get our numbers down. We can harvest 12 and season runs from mid September to the end of January.
      If a trophy shows up, good and if a 50 lb doe fawn shows up, even tastier. We eat them all. It is truly a harvest more than a hunt. Fertilize with corn and sweet feed, harvest with the xbow.
      I do rifle hunt other properties, but that isn't an option at my house.

    I'm an Allen Fan. Best Head for the Money. I shoot the 85 or 100 with Bone Breaker Points. Low Profile 1 and an 8th inch 3 blade blow throughs. You need more spin for Vented Heads. Stainless Steel is very hard and brittle. It's not something that bends. Not sure what that tip is made of. Nice looking broadhead. Most Mechanicals cause more trouble than their worth. My Crossbow blows them open leaving out. So will a Powerful Compound. Let alone poor performance on Impact. Some fly good but fail to open when They hit Major Bone. Avoid 2 Blade Mechanicals. They have Deflect Issues on Bad Angle Shots. They Hit and grab on one blade and flip the arrow outwards.(Avoidable) Depends on how the Broadhead is turned when it hits. 1 Blade 90 degrees sliding into Ribs Drags and Flips/Spins the Backend of the Arrow away from the Target. Not a Deal if the Broadhead Blades are noon and six. You may have a Waisted Shot on a quartering to you. When you Hit the Ribs Blades deploying 9 to 3. Flip Out. Issues on Steep Downward Shots work the same way.

    Funny you talk down about Toxic broadheads.
    I have a 9 point and 10 point bucks hanging on my wall that would lethally disagree with you.
    You seem to ignore the split in the radius’s blades and the concentric shape that allows for true flight.
    The split in the blades allows the blades to separate upon cutting and creates virtually SIX blades doing the wound channel creation.
    Let’s see your two blade expandable do that…
    Try again, and actually shoot an animal with one!

    Im gonna disagree with the slick trick torch i shot them in the beginning of last season i killed 3 doe with them i used new ones out of the box didnt reuse them at all. I found 2 of the 3 i shot (the land i hunt has a big out of control doe population) every shot was the same shot placement i am good at shooting my bow. Every shot was low lung top heart shots the first doe i killed i cut the top of the heart off at 25 or so yards perfect pass through but it took over 75 yards for me to find the first drop of blood. Same with the 2nd deer took just as far if not further than the first deer. It was a lower double lung shot. The 3rd deer was never found. They get good pass throughs and inflict a good wound channel but they did not leave a good blood trail the deer i lost could have been on me who knows. But the deer i in fact did recover left little to no blood which is insane to me. I had some leftover rage trypans from the season before and killed 2 more with them had the same shot placements and always had blood at the shot site. Im not saying the slick trick torch is a bad broadhead. But in my experience they leave a less than ideal blood trail.

    You keep smacking those broadheads down on top of your other arrows on the shelf. You're going to put a nick in one of the carbon shafts and then you'll shoot that nicked arrow, and it's going to snap in half at the shot and drive the back end of the broken shaft into your hand. Plus, you keep slamming your elbow/forearm down on the shelf, risking a nasty cut from those broadheads. How do I take advice from someone who doesn't respect the equipment?
