    I have 2 of the speedwoofer 10s mkii's and they are excellent! I was quite surprised at the weight of it when I unboxed it, very robustly built. I have one hooked up with a set of klipsch the fives to my 77 inch lg C2. The other i use with my pc set up with a set of kanto tuk's and I use an lg 42 inch C2 for a monitor!!! Thanks for the review!!

    Seems like a really well-built cabinet, fantastic driver material, and just a lot of subwoofer for the money. When considering the mobile audio market, to have a custom-built sub enclosure made to the required specifications of the desired subwoofer, an amplifier to power the sub, and then a really good woofer, you would be WAY over $500, and likely not have something this nice. An entry level JL Audio or similar with an amp, enclosure, and the woofer, you would be closer to $1k with materials and labor. This is a GREAT deal for a powered sub. Have you seen the resent sale regarding the REL HT/1003 (sealed 10") for $349 and the REL HT/1205 (sealed 12") for $449? I prefer the 10" and do want a sealed enclosure. I mostly listen to music, so I prefer a sealed sub. Love the comparison section. Great review!

      Hey Ramon, it does appear to be great value. If you watch their site they sell out on these often so the demand must be there. It has been a long time since I was in the car audio world but I totally agree, it adds up really fast building something with a good driver and enclosure. Thanks for the watch, appreciate it!

    Matt, I really apprciate this review. I've been looking at a Klipsh R-101SW/121SW to replace my ancient Boston Acoustics 10in. Do you think the speedwoofer would out perform either one of those and would it be a good match for my Q-acoustics 3020i? My main use case is movies but I do enjoy music once in awhile. Would really appreciate your thoughts.

    I am looking at the Speedwoofer 10s mkii or the Monolith m10 v2. The Monolith v2 seems to have little information or comparisons online, and I would love to see these two compared head to head. The Monolith is presently on sale through Monolith for $500. I am using it in a room 14' x 21' with 8' ceilings. 50/50 movies/music. The Monolith seems to play lower and louder, but quality matters (quality sound and quality product). Which would you choose and why? Thank you for the help!

      @@MattCoykendall1 Matt please, im worried, i need some guidance. You mentioned the rsl has less mid-bass than the svs one, Im afraid of missing these frecuencies if i try to match it with Focal Aria 926 and its arguabily lack of bass (F. Resp. 45 Hz)

    I hope you can answer this question quickly.
    I need answer fast please 🙏
    If you could get an open box PB1000 for $380 plus tax.... or rsl 10s mkii....$449
    Which would you pick?
    Price is important HOWEVER I want the sub with the lowest frequency and highest output in the low frequency range.
    I already have 2 -sb1000 and 1-sb1000pro.
    My plan is to use maybe the pb1000 for ultra low frequency and use the sb1000's to boost the higher bass frequency.
    I'm hoping by mixing the two. I can get great "music" bass from sb1000's.... and get low loud bass from pb1000.....
    But I'm looking hard at rsl10s mkii.
    If space isn't a factor and price is about $38 cheaper than rsl.
    However I only get 30 days warranty on pb1000
    So if I pay more for rsl, I get much longer warranty.
    Svs is open box new, rsl new...
    But my main concern is which is the best for my situation.
    My room is 16' x 12' x 8'..... two open doorways, one small one large. Concrete on two walls in room. All exterior walls in home are concrete.
    PLEASE GIVE ME YOUR OPINION AS SOON AS YOU CAN. I will need up at fast if I want pb1000 for $380 plus tax, free shipping.

    • @MattCoykendall1
      @MattCoykendall1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Go with the RSL this time, 30 days isn’t much of a warranty, just for the piece of mind alone. The RSL will handle everything the pb1000 does plus protect your purchase for a lot longer.

    • @Reldvs1
      @Reldvs1 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MattCoykendall1 thank you. If I can get him to lower the price to around 350 would that change anything?
      Is there an amount that would make buying pb1000 worth it?
      I can maybe add a warranty as well to pb1000.... would that make a difference?
      Thank you again for the quick response, really appreciate it.

    I am pretty sure that their cabinet design is a variation of a mass loaded transmission line. Which helps extend the bass lower; and decreases the distortion.

    • @MattCoykendall1
      @MattCoykendall1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Neil, I reached out to RSL for clarification on MLTL vs their compression guide tech, this is what they had to say "Our patented Compression Guide tuning differs in that it creates areas of expansion, contraction, expansion coupled with specific volume, baffling, transducer parameters and tuning to achieve the desired output, vent velocity and impedance attributes which yield the extension and transient performance that we target."

    • @NeilBlanchard
      @NeilBlanchard ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MattCoykendall1 Right - I can see that it also has elements of Helmholtz etc. - but MLTL designs can include expansion and reduction of the sections. A tall ported design also starts to act like a TL if the port is at the opposite end of the cabinet from the woofer. There is a lot of "overlap" and gray areas - and "hybrid" designs. The taper down to the slot aka terminus opening, in the Speedwoofer means that *all* the air near the inside end of the slot starts to couple with the woofer cone (not just a much smaller port) so this adds the mass of the air and lowers the fundamental frequency of the system.
      The key change in MLTL designs that many people don't know about is moving the woofer away from the closed end of the TL - which is how the triangular section right behind the woofer in the RSL, is acting, in my estimation. Doing this makes the TL act "longer" than it appears, because the closed end doubles the effective wavelength.
      And the "middle" constriction in the RSL also causes the ait to "flow" (rather than just resonate), means that a fair portion of the design are acting a lot like a TL; in my estimation.

    Just got the Mk2. I've been into home audio for ~50 years and this isn't just good for money.......it's just flat out good Very punchy.....well controlled output. No flabby, bloated sounding bass. I'm using for music playback, no† HT. However, like most things built to a price point, there is an issue, which is cabinet vibration. Gonna line mine w/ No Rez. Then it should sound even cleaner. I'm really impressed by RSL. IMHO on par w/ REL for a lot less money.
