Girl, I get you. I tried playing the Instagram algorithm game and it sucked my soul.. I don't have the answers, I can simply suggest random ideas.. For one, I think you absolutely deserve to raise the prices of your paintings! Even by 10 or 20% and then increase them every year. You're selling them, so you must be doing something right! ❤ Don't get discouraged, keep sharing your experience and the right clients will find you. If you haven't already, find a simple job you won't mind doing (not in an office for sure!!) like one other commenter suggested. Even if it's part-time, 4/ 6 hrs a day, it will lift off some of that psychological burden. And perhaps you've already thought about all options, but don't give up, youtube could eventually lead to something great, too!

Thanks for being honest, I get what you’re saying about all the picture perfect
The universe and God are two very different things, the universe is not a being who cares for you, God is, that is why He gave Jesus, I am so glad I can share my struggles with him. I wish you the same!

Hi, Inna. I resonate with your feelings and give up to live as an artist a long time ago. In the 90s, when I was younger, I've started to sell my paints in a small gallery in southern Brazil, but, like you, I barely sell enough to pay for the art materials. Instagram and social media nowadays make us to believe that it's only a matter of hard work. And it is not. It's almost the same chances of win the lottery. If I could suggest you something, is to work on something else easier to make a living (im my case, I work with graphic design) and make your art in your spare time. You probably will produce less art, but you could work with 100% freedom, without worrying about what could sell, what not. It's even harder from us, who doesn't live in poor countries to make a living of art (in US and most of Europe surely is easier). Best wishes for you, and hope you continue to make your art, and make a good living (if not with your art, with something else)🙏

Hi Kalina!! I've just stumbled in here somehow, and I'm glad I did! The paintings surrounding you as you tell us your difficulties with finding buyers and making enough from your art, are amazing. They're visually interesting, and they reveal skill and sophistication. I wish I could solve your issues with profitability. There are a lot of successful artists whose work your reminds me of, and I think if you could display in their galleries or post into their collective websites, you'd probably see more movement. DeviantArt comes to mind, although they seem increasingly AI focused of late. There are still a lot of traditional artists getting seen there. My art practice is strictly for fun, and my music practice has the same visibility issues as your art practice, so this isn't advice per se. Your work is really good. I hope your sales pick up soon.

btw, your photos on Etsy are amazing!! Ever think of marketing prints of your paintings? I would LOVE a print of your Paddleboarding Venus, for example!

No idea how the algorithm recommended me your video, but it was interesting to see a Van-Gogh-inspired painting. I read a book which is a collection of 85 letters from Van Gogh. He only sold one single piece in his life-time, but his failure at becoming a recognized artist brouhgt him a lot of pain. How many undiscovered Van Goghs might exist out there? Well, I know very little about painting, but I my wild guess would be the usual "make your mess your message". Money-wise, given that you are in Ukraine, my wild guess would be "making art at the end of the world". Right now, I guess the world wants Ukrainian artists to do art about the war. But there is the struggle between pure art making and actually living with art. What we see online is usually the succesful cases, which brings survivorship bias. I have no idea want to recommend, other than to say so many others of us are also struggling in trying to be creatives. I wish you success. The thing about Van Gogh is that, before dedicating to art, he failed at literally everything. Maybe the universe simply wants you play on the hardcore mode at trying to be an artist!

Hi! Contemporary Ukrainian art is mostly focused on themes of war or national identity. I’m from the eastern part of Ukraine, and I speak Russian. I don’t really identify with national themes. As for the war, it’s something I’m so tired and saddened by that I refuse to paint it. So you’re right-it’s like “making art at the end of the world.” All I can hope is that your last messages turn out to be true. 😅😑
