I kind of understand about the F4 because it was a clumsy dogfighting machine and it left a huge vapor trail and it was easy to knock down in aerial combat. However the F14 was a competent replacement for the F4 but the F4 had amazing speed and during Desert Storm it could rain shock & awe to sweep in and out to knock out strategic ground targets like a Tsunami wave that blows in to wreak havoc and destruction. The F14 could do that bit it was not purposed with that role. The F4 was given that more Frontline attack role so they were subjected to heavier losses because of the risk. Still, they could perform and imagine if the F4 got an upgrade package and could still be used for another 20 years?

My nagging question is why they cannot upgrade the F14 to become a 5th or 6th generation Fighter or the same thing to the F18 or F16. We are seeing the A10s and F15s get upgrades and refurbishing. So what is the US Military Brass putting out some tried and proven Fighters
There were some hard point attachments I’ve never seen before in the back of the tunnel, any idea what they are? Bombs and phoenixes in the tunnel together?
At 1:50 those are TALDs, they're guild decoys that show up as hostile contacts on radar. They're great for getting SAMs or aircraft to shoot at something else.
Is not too difiult, you only have to know the basics and take some practice. TomCats on DCS (specially B version) are beasts like on real life. You must learn to know how to handle him, or he will kill you and yor crew (2 players can join up in a single fighter as Pilot and RIO). But the fun, to be a TomCat crew member is the star of this sky, and is too awesome!!!

But, to a minimum nicely visual experience, an i5 4th gen, 3.1 GHz (or AMD equivalent), plus 16 GB RAM and a 400GB SSD (you can run at HD too, but the loadings and performace of game will be very slow and low, more recomended run DCS on a SSD), plus an 1060/1070 NVidia GPU (or Radeon equivalent) you can play single player missions (you against AI) or at Multiplayer too. Highly recomend to buy a HOTAS (Joystick+Trust) like an Logitec X52 or Trustmaster T16000 (but even with an cheap budget joystick, like Trustmaster T-Flight X or Saitek Cyborg V1, you can be with a very nice experience). If you have no worries to spend money, you will see some advantages upgrading PC to an i7/i9 CPU, 64Gb RAM (or more), a large SSD and a new generation GPU like an 2080 or 3090 (or a Radeon equivalent). But an advice: be cautelous buying all eletronics equips for now (also includea PCs pieces and joysticks). Most of all pieces are out of storages and the scalpers selling some pieces in ultra hi costs (stoleing you money in fact). For example, the Trustmaster HOTAS Warthog (best HOTAS IMO) I saw scalpers seling it for US$3k-8k instead its original Price on reach of US$1k-2k.
