  • Gulab jamun is the quintessential Indian dessert. To make it easier to enjoy, I turned it into an easy cardamom-spiced Bundt cake soaked in classic saffron sugar syrup!

I’m from the Philippines. When I was younger, we went to an Indian friend’s house and we were served Gulab Jamun. When we got home I tried googling how to make it and came across a fairly easy recipe. I fell in love with the dessert. Unfortunately, I haven’t had it since I made some at home. You could pour rabdi instead of the glaze...gulab jamun and rabdi is a classic combination...

I was born and raised in The Netherlands but with Indian heritage. My mom bought us gulab and the green stuff that’s shaped in blocks (don’t remember the name) not really frequently but when she did, man we were living. I’m happy that my nani and mom still make indian dishes every other week, even though I’m personally not really connected with the indian culture anymore

Why? I love that the jamuns are supposed to be little balls.. it's delightful to just chuck one in your mouth and enjoy it. I cannot imagine it being a cake. No, please, no. But then I think, this is her expression and interpretation of it, her way of assimilating. So now I'm like jaane do.. ja, Hetal, jee le apni zindagi.
