  • With massive companies on a big decline in the past several years, I thought it would be a good time to discuss it. If you enjoy classic games like i do, then you'll probably enjoy this video. This was more of a passion video but also an appreciation to all the game devs that made my favorite games.
It's not perfect but I did try my best to elaborate on game creating back in the day. I've always enjoyed seeing what's "under the hood" in gaming. I do however talk about modern games as well as touching on "the message" woke people like to put in our faces.
This wasn't to bash on newer games as I do enjoy a good bit of them. I just think that most of them have potential in being something GREATER while others just simply lost the magic.

That's where I truly stand; I'm a retro gamer thru & thru, and classic games do tend to get perverted so much and so often!
Good thing I found this in my dashboard.

This is a really good video I like older games and I do have a few consoles that I have had for a long time, also I think Sega is remaking Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio so I am looking forward for that. I wish you the best and keep making good content.

Thank You! I really appreciate it. For the Sega fans out there i do hope they get what they want from these newer remakes. I too look forward to seeing how they turn out.

The art of old video games is in itself such a misconception. And I use the word misconception a lot throughout the few last couple of days. The thing is not about art but how to deal with "limitations". Even when you program a "pixel graphics game" today, you most likely have no limitations to deal with. This been said I do enjoy many of those modern pixel games and imagine what things could have been decades ago only IF hardware limitation was not such a big road block. So developers had to be creative and get distinctive looks on their games to make players identify them easily from other companies outlets.

I understand where you're coming from but older video games is a lot more than just visuals and limitations. While both do play a big role in the creation of video games, more and more video games are starting to look and feel the same. So when i say the "ART" i mean the art style not the visual limitations. It is unquestionable that the ART of old video games is very different from games being made today (apart from indies). It's even more apparent when comparing the concept art as well.

Or maybe the real reason people prefer older games is because the same reason people prefer movies over games or books over movies nostalgia see you may have trouble finding games in our modern market i promise you the next generation are not going to value games the way you do like is shown its not millennials dominating fortnites market its their kids now when your 20 years old and have 30 luigis mansions like is the case of right now or mario bros or super smash what ever but better are you going to settle for what the old people think or are you going to find your own niches in this pool of nostalgia no one has time to of fully explored

Yea i liked the video but i felt the bias incredibly, im off the opinion Gaming gets better every year, you just gotta be in to a lot of genres. Tons of Indie and AAA released every year with better and better system and etc. What we value is also dependent on the era we've grown with like you've said. Like the OP, i also like Sly Cooper but it's beyond a dead ship and i don't think it's wrong either.
When people go to emulation or psn to buy old games, they'll see Sly or whatever and maybe give it a try, and really like it. That same thing will happen for games today in 20 years. New game companies and Ip's, creators emerging with new minds and ideas. Whether you like a certain year, it's pretty much impossible to not like at least 1 game that releases in 2024 or whatever. So as time goes on more games release that you like.
Esp the bit towards the end, i just think the Author's own bias and thoughts went into it, and I don't think it's neccesarily bad either. As a Gamer I also gave it lots of thoughts and OP did too evidently, we all have our fav years of gaming or style and that is fine. I don't like this Black or White portrayal shown daresay as objective fact. The hate boner again Sony big productions and alike is very evident and that is fine, I just think if he tries a lot of things he normally wouldn't play, he could find a lot to enjoy about new games.

Nostalgia is only part of the puzzle. I see the modern games limited license, seeping in like a poison. Even physical games, now days require an Internet connection.
