- The last flapping track in England has unfortunately closed down, citing an end of an era.
Askern greyhound stadium started back in 1938. It has a rich history with countless characters... we thought it was essential to capture the last days, the last races and all the legendary folks and their unforgettable stories.

A great little video. I've never been a dog man myself but how very sad it has been to see the demise of flapping. Each and every track had so many great characters.
My dad use to run greyhounds there, He died 7 years ago, Still have fond memory's as a kid there too. Great documentary

A great documentary full of emotion and passion for running dogs. A good giggle listening to the stories too. Another sad loss to our way of life. All the best of wishes in the future to those directly affected by this closure 🐾🐾

Finally a huge thank you to Dave sleight for all his help, patience and knowledge, he has schooled my bitch from day one and without him i would just have a really fast pet.

I was gutted i couldnt attened the last meeting but what a great send off this film is, not only to the track but to the heart of the track its people. i spent my teens running my dogs on Askern and the characters i spent time with helped shape me into who i am today.
The best of luck the the track in the future, it wont be the same but i hope to be there at that first meeting to show support and hope others will too.

Great video. Had some good nights at Askern ,and like everyone, i wish it was still racing. Thanks to Dave for keeping it going as long as he did, he`s a true gent. Met Chris a few times and he`s a real nice lad. Dennis also, just a true dog man. Well done all :)

Great to see friend Planty start of Vid,such a Character.I loved going flapping with my father in 80s 90s,some great people and times sadly gone.
Fantastic vid lads so sad to see places like this going i have own working lurchers all my life fly racing pigeons and work ferrets the characters that i have come across in those circles are sadly a dying breed i am lucky enough to have a 7 year old son who loves nothing more than to run dogs fly pigeons and work ferrets feel for you lads losing a place you all dearly love

I don't race dogs but I work lurcher and terriers and ferrets. And I'm fortunate that my 12 year old son got the hunting bug

kinsley not mentioned now a licenced track but great memorys has a young boy i had 3 greyhounds in my garden i was 14 at the time and loved racing at these flapping tracks had around 10 dogs altoghether but the feeling and excitment adrenaline hair standing up when i had a runner never had it since what a shame and i can tell you now the licence racing is not the same just to all your die hard flapping dog men at least we were born in the right era all the tales we can tell and all the strings whats been pulled what was better for the die hard pensioners they have nothing like that today imagine being a teenager today i now have my whippets and great memorys they cant take them away from us boys

To all who made this video congratulations you have done a fantastic job showing flapping at it's best, just a shame it's come to an end, but you are spot on with most of the young uns, I've got 2 grandsons who would sooner kill alians on the bloody computer than walk a dog or go to a track, I think the world of um both at times they are as much use as a tit on a chicken. Good to see Trevor Wales aswell good dogman had some laughs over years Kinsley 14 bookies get few grand on in 80s,now can't get £50 on with High St Books.Dogmen Jack Harrison,Tommy Davies,Jim Whitaker,Jack Maddallo Taylor.Once took bitch in Kinsley did clock,got £100 back then from Tommy Davies.I went to Cradley Heath sales with Eric,lucas,Raymond many years ago.Sadly most dogmen have passed and crying shame tracks still not open for Social Aspect all lost for few flappers who are lefted.
