Lyrics:
Oh Lily, she was a beautiful thing. Kind of beauty you only see once, and the kind of beauty to blind like the sun.
Oh Lily, she was always young. Kind of youth you only feel once thirty six and a half laps around the sun.
Oh me, see I was always old. Kind of life where you were never a child never really close to free but kudzu wild.
Oh me, I was the uglier kind. Kind to only ever catch a blue moon stare and the kind to never even have a mind to care.
She said you're taking yourself to seriously and thats a big talk coming from a beauty queen.
She laughed real quick and with a slap in he face, said life's a game not a god damn race.
Oh Lily, she was clever as hell. Turn of a phrase came easy for her, she was in love with all the way your could abuse a word.
Oh Lily, she was one with the words. They were the kind you need to hear but they were always late. Yeah, she'd read you like a book and then throw you away.
Oh me, I wasn't alright. I ran to far too far to fast to long, ran right out of her head and into a song.
Oh me, down at the end of my rope. Lily showed up just to cut me down, said what would you do if I ever left town.
She said you're taking yourself to seriously and thats a big talk coming from a beauty queen.
She laughed real quick and with a slap in he face, said life's a game not a god damn race.
Oh Lily, she was a beautiful thing.
So I thought it started out good. First couple of lines I liked. Then the oh me crap. A song about a dude with zero confidence just isn’t for me. Not very manly. Some cool clever lyrics mixed in with some trying to hard to find the momentum here.
Hey, careful, man, there's a beverage here
@@WesternAF sorry just trying to give constructive criticism. I’ll stop listening
I mean… he doesn’t need it 🫤 nor did he ask for it
What’s not manly? Being confident enough in your emotions and feelings to put it in a song? You’re the city typa fella who listens to modern pop country and thinks its the shit….this old style is true country
@@thatonefella8638 this isn’t an old style bonehead! I don’t listen to pop country. When I do listen to country it’s old country western. And that’s why this dudes lyrics are so played out to me. Been there done that! Also I live out in the woods on the iron range of Minnesota and work outside in an iron oar mine. Last week it was -20. Don’t talk to me about being a man. I also wasn’t talking about him I was talking about the lyrics. Poorly written in my opinion and all just influence. Piss off!!
