I grew up in Northern California, and I have always loved looking at those beautiful bushes, when you go up to see the Pacific Redwoods, you'll see Manzanita TREES! The are up to and over 18" diameter and well over 20' tall! So beautiful , the brindle color of the bark. I miss seeing them.
When I lived and hiked in California, I always thought the manzanitas were so beautiful in shape and color like the other thoughtful commenter. The information presented and the capture of all the stages of the flowers and berries was interesting.

i find it strange that most manzanita berries have no flavor to speak of, but a few are really yummy! A. viscida is one.
