It's interesting to hear Pikmin 4 make the list. For me it started out so painfully slow that I started completely skipping all dialogue and cut scenes (something I don't think I've ever done on the first play through of a game). For a while that made the game much more enjoyable, but it also just felt like more of the same and at some point I put it aside and haven't picked it up again since. Maybe if I'd stuck with the story it would have picked up and kept me interested in the game.
I definitely understand about the beginning of the game, but once they let me loose in the world I was having the best time and I could not stop. These are just so beautiful to explore and there's so much treasure to be found around every nook and cranny what exactly did you not like about the world I would be interested in hearing more
I really recommend trying it out again sometime because once it stops nagging you every 3 seconds and just let you out into the world it's truly beautiful
@@captainfach I think I probably will go back to it eventually. I was enjoying it well enough, it just doesn't really bring much new to the table. I played and really enjoyed Pikmin 3 when it came out on Wii U but I think I'm probably less patient now and it just adds too much fluff that I don't care about. Games with intense action sequences often benefit from adding other elements so you can shift gears and relax before ramping back up again. Pikmin isn't that sort of game. The story and rpg progression system are just bloat. The ratio of engaging gameplay to reading text and doing admin is off for me. If I were making it, I'd ditch the hub world and replace it with a level select map at the start of each day. Ditch the entire intro - it's Pikmin 4 - we know the basic setup and no one is buying it for the story. Simplify the dog upgrades into a binary choice that you're presented with each time you find an upgrade item.
