    Manual any day of the week. I'll sacrifice the 1/2 second difference in acceleration for a more involving experience.

    Pull both pdk paddles simultaneously and you can rev it whenever you want. Your RS sounds great.

      skrads That's what so cool about Porsche they offer a dual clutch which actually lets you treat it like a manual!

    • @skrads
      @skrads 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kiran Patel indeed. I love the pdk technology on my gt3 . We live in a strange time now when old tech is constantly glorified by so called enthusiastic drivers. I drive an m235i daily with a great modern inline 6 turbo engine, but the bmw Manual transmission on it sucks and doesn’t work efficiently with the engine. At the time most reviews said how engaging the manual was. Wish I had the Z8 auto transmission.

      skrads ,Hey i drive a m135 manual
      What do you mean with the manual dosnt work efficiently?
      My 2nd car is a honda integra type r and that transmission is more engaging and feels more mechanic than the bmw one.
      It really kliks into gear and it let you really slam it into gear.
      Where when you try to shift verry fast with the m135 its like it holds you up.it needs more time to klik into gear....
      Maybe a aem quick-shifter would be a good upgrade...

    • @skrads
      @skrads 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      RUE5 EK4 what you described is exactly what I mean by inefficient use of the engine especially going from second to third, the gear never clicks in place quickly. Your older integra is far superior in that department.

  • @mqandil

    That was an epic video. Well done and Thank you... quick note on the manual. The gearbox on this new GT3 allows for a No-Lift shifts, so you could have kept your right foot planted to the gas pedal while shifting up or down with or without sport bottom selected. This allows you to perform perfect shifts at or near 9000 rpm. As you press the clutch pedals near 9000 RPM redline, the car will hold the rpm electronically and won’t allow engine to over-rev, even when your right foot on gas peddle is buried fully to the floor, reducing your shift times significantly and also allowing you to execute PDK-Like shifts in this manual car every time. It feels counterintuitive at the Beginning, but you get used to it quickly and It is soooooo addictive and makes you look like a pro. Should try that next time you drive another manual. Again great video, please keep them coming. Mark

Let’s face it unless you are track junky or trying to set lap record, the manual will always put a smile on your face. I was blessed to own all of them including GT4, 991.2 GT3 manual, 981 Spyder, 991.2 GT3 RS and GT2 RS on the way, and few other toys, and I can tell you if I have to keep only one car, it would be GT3 manual or the 2016 Spyder. For a 991 gen, no matter a gt3 or a rs, i am taking the pdk over the mt anyday. Car is just getting too powerful and not really suitable for a manual anymore. True it is more "engaging" (even with all the computerized driving aids, auto rev match and such) and rolling through gears are fun, but money shifts are not. I get more pleasure rolling through gears on my '80 911sc with weber46ida and my 964 c2. As much as I love the manual transmission, the latest gt car I would go with one would be a 997 gen, true analog. Having said that, a gt4 would be a perfect of both world as a modern Porsche. Just my $0.02.

    So is your .1 RS really that much faster than the .2 manual? Or were you just letting him get a little distance?

    MATT - how about mounting a small camera inside the cars so we can see speedo and tach when test driving!

    LSU Package. I don't understand why anyone would want yellow seatbelts. Porsche does so many thing right but they kill me with those seatbelts.

    Solution....if you want the out and out quickest car you choose the PDK, if you want more driver engagement and involvement and overall more fun you get the manual simple.
    I wouldn't choose any sports car without a proper manual transmission that's what a sports car is all about, it's about having fun it's about driver engagement it's about driver's skill, any grandma and her friends from the nursing home can drive a Porsche GT3 or GT3 RS or GT2, but none of them would even attempt a Porsche with a manual transmission.
    It's just really too bad the gearing is so tall in the GT3 I'd much rather have shorter gears and have to row through the gears and have more fun but it is what it is.
    Bottom line....speed vs fun, I know what I'd always choose....... the manual.
    Let's just all hope that Porsche continues to give us naturally aspirated gt3rs with manual transmissions let's hope they don't go hybrid or electric on us.

    Not to sound like a douche- but I would never let anyone drive my manual gt3. People mess up the clutch pedal travel.

    I actually like your car better. That color is hideous as yours just looks clean. Yeah a stick, all the aggressive scoops and lines, I get it but nah.

    Why does everyone rave about how good the manual car is rather than the pdk but then use auto rev match for downshifts?..... Whats the point?
    PDK is far better to live with if you are a serious driver rather than a poseur.
