So many people on the interwebs are like "heel-toe" this, "heel-toe" that, you're not a good driver if you don't "heel-toe" and blah blah blah. It's so refreshing to hear someone who is so self-confident that he can say "I don't heel-toe because I'm not good at it" and continue driving a GT3 Touring. You're a good dude with a groovy 'tude - other TH-cam personalities should take note.
Scott Moerschbacher I completely agree, and also remember age is a factor. I used to heal and toe regularly when I was much younger, and as I got older my foot is not as flexible or as cooperative to the point it becomes physically impossible to heal and toe without too much discomfort, so I stopped even trying to do it and I feel I am better driver now than when I was younger. So you don’t need to heel-toe to be a good driver..... thumps up to Matt for not worrying about what others say or think and just being himself. He is a great guy. Too bad he lives far away. Mark
Everyone is bad at heel-n-toe at first. It took me years to get good at it. Now I do it through every green light turn. I drive an Infiniti G35 sedan. A lightweight sneaker helps, too.
This is my car... Nice review, Matt! For those wondering, I have this and a 981 Spyder, which is basically a GT4 convertible, which I also love. I think they make the perfect pair, since they provide very different driving experiences and are each beautiful in their own way. Matt let me drive his RS (you see me pass him going opposite way in it during his review of my car). Loved his car, too, but RS too extroverted for me to own and drive except for a gathering like Smokies GT. I used to have a 991.1 GT3, with wing and PDK of course, which was great. But Touring is much better suited to me. The lack of wing makes it more daily drive-able to me as far as not getting the same kind of attention like I’m driving some race car and flaunting it. The people who know what the car is recognize it, and I appreciate that kind of attention. And the manual transmission makes it more engaging to drive everywhere except the track, which I might visit once per year at most. As for the color, I’ve always been attracted to Mexico Blue and when I got the chance to do PTS I jumped at it. Considered other more subdued colors like Oak Green Metallic or British Racing Green, but ultimately decided if I ever got PTS I would get a COLOR, not something that blends in.
Seems like a lot of people don’t care for the wingless look but man I love it. I think it’s such a great looking car. So classy and sporty at the same time. Hopefully someday I’ll own one..
Have a slate grey Touring (black trim) with 18 way seats, Cermamics, black wheels and headlights. Been driving 911's for 48 years and this is the best yet.
This is a great GT car. I frequently travel 600 miles to Utah for building inspections. My 2012 4.0 is a different animal, much more track focused but smaller and lighter than the current 991.2
This is one special variant of the GT3 line. The spec and color is very special. Smart move on Porsche to fulfill those folks who want a manual version and couldn’t get a 911R.
krichd1 The 911R is still a fantastic car, in fact a lot of reviews hailed it as one of the best 911's ever made. Just because the new GT3 is very similar and some people may prefer it doesn't make the 911R a "scam or a bad joke"..
The 911R was ridiculously expensive, Porsche said this model is the last 911 with a manual gearbox. 2 years later they changed there mind, and came out with the manual updated .2 GT models. The 911R is the predecessor of the actual GT3 touring model, the concept is the same, a less best lap time focused, but still a very driver focused GT series car. From my perspective, the 911R was a scam for the price.
"heel-toeing" is not needed unless you're driving at the limit, near redline, and need to downshift while braking before exiting a corner. If you're not near redline, a simple rev-match works fine because you can rev-match downshift before actually applying the brakes. I can't heel-toe either, but I automatically rev-match all downshifts. After 20+ years driving manual it's basically just muscle memory by now. An auto rev-match car would probably mess me up! haha
I know what your saying about the 4.0 motor, it just feels alittle bit more solid. But for controllable back road n track fun nothing beats the Gt4. 👍🏼
Another great review. Only comment regarding the differences between touring & GT3, and aside from the wing, the touring shock & spring rates are just a bit softer and with slightly more suspension travel for more refined ride in town and allowing it to soak the bumps better, which is actually really nice but you give up some steering feel & sharpness, and ever slightly slower turn in compared to standard GT3 as a result but ever so small. Again great review. Mark
Matt, You really need to attend the Skip Barber "Track Days" school down in Sebring, FL. I guarantee you will learn and appreciate all they have to offer you, not to mention you will get so much more out of your GT3 driving experience.
I just happened on this video so I thought I'd chime in. A few months ago I had a not too different dilemma in choosing between a GT4 with 2800 miles on in it , LWB's, famous owner, vs a 2014 GT3 with 7K miles on it. In the past I've had overlap in what I had in the garage so I didn't want to do that again. I also own an M4 with a Stg2 BM3 tune so more HP was not a requirement. In the end I chose the GT4 as I know and acknowledge that the 991.1 GT3 is a faster and edgier beast but not $20K better. Plus the 981 GT4 will never happen again and its just that good. I'm sure you know that. Lastly, I found it interesting that you revisited the E9x M3. A while back I had a 2010 E90 M3 6spd. Nice car, but having had the Audi RS4 before the M3, I felt the E90 M3 wasn't as good as an all-rounder . Not much I miss about that M3 especially compared to the current F series but I'm curious to see how your experience the 2nd time around goes. Cheers !
Love the colour on your video , on most photos Mexico does look darker unfortunately. Would you say the color on your video is a good representation of the real Mexico blue ? Thx
After spending 22,000+ km inside the GT4 and 11,000+ km in the Touring I have come to a clear conclusion: they are both fantastic, and keepers. The manual in the GT4 is very old school and responsive. The GT3 has all these smart automatic rev level adjustments, where you keep your foot on the throttle, and shift (up AND DOWN). Is that what you referred to with „power shifting“ ? If not what else ?
This car is an occasion car like the 911 R (95% of R same ethos) ... Early Sunday morning twisty backroads w manual and 9K rpm ... other Carrera’s with PDK are the better daily drivers ... great video Matt
Why do so many people think a manual isn't good for a daily driver? Millions upon millions of people drive manual cars every day in other parts of the world where manual continues to be common. I've driven a manual car daily since I started driving in 1995! My current daily has a super light 8 pound flywheel, which means revs drop SUPER fast especially with the AC on, but I have no trouble with it at all!
Sure but that's just their preference. No one can really say one is "better" for DD than the other. My preference is that I would go nuts with boredom if I had to drive a slushbox every day. Maybe that's also Matt's preference.
It's not a slushbox in the GT3. You can stay engaged with the transmission, you just aren't pushing a clutch in. I never have the car in auto mode when I'm driving it around unless I am low on gas and need to save fuel (which is almost never). And only then because I like hearing the revs too much and will keep it high in the rpm band and suck up the gas.
The RS 4.0 is my favourite. The prices on the 4.0 have increased greatly over the past 2 years. Saw one sold in LA in August for $400,00 US.(17000 miles) The 2018 Touring is a much more refined car and I use mine daily for my business.
Jeeze that car is so sexy. You are very blessed for having the knowledge to get you the means to be able to be apart of that. I can grow and hope to achieve that some day.
Why is it so difficult to think about having a GT3/Touring as a daily? I've daily driven my PTS 991.1 GT3 and within 11 months of ownership, I've done about 10.5k miles. The GT3 is such a capable car, Matt. Maybe the RS with bucket seats may not easy to drive every day, but with the sofas found in most .1 GT3's - it's very easy to enjoy every single day.
GT3 Touring is the right combination. One factor you mentioned was the price. Have you ever driven a Carrera T? I know you are not a turbo engine guy as of late but it has a nice price point.
Although the M3 is 1/2 the price !and much easier to get insurance as the GT3 is regarded as a track car by the insurance. I’m waiting my delivery of a 911 991.2 Turbo
Man I really don't like that trim around the windows. Chrome/silver looks really out of place. Although I do like how it makes a continuous loop around both the door glass and the quarter glass. I just think black trim would look a ton better.
You still have more integrity/transparency than any other car TH-cam channel but I’m calling a mild case of click bait on this one. And ya know what.. I’m OK with it! You do you, Matt.
Nice video Matt, couldn’t agree more-Sport bucket seats are too severe back breakers. Interested to hear if you like the E92 as much as before after much faster F80. Regret selling my E92 for F80 comp pack( you advise me not too),just scared E92 might feel old & dated when going back...
Keep in mind folks the Touring is different than a standard GT3. It’s louder on the inside because it gets the same treatment as the 911R. More noise and less sound deadening. Not bad!
I don't think thats a click-bait tho.. he did mentioned before he wants a GT3 touring instead of M3 in his previous vids which was he driving the gt3 manual or Gt4, I can't recall.
I’d have to echo what I’ve seen a few people say. I think a Touring and an RS is a bit much. Why not the RS, and a GT4? Seems like that would be a much better range of cars.
Just out of curiosity Matt, what types of paint protection are on all these cars you have test driven these past few days? And what do the owners think of about what they are using?
What an amazing vehicle! If you've driven a 997.2 Carrera S, how would a 20k mileage manual with a 9" aftermarket carplay headunit compare for a daily driver? I was considering this myself as a balance between cost, fun factor, and cost (~ $50k).
I think I’m going to get the 2020 gt4. That is unless they mark them up like they do the c8 vette and gt500 then I’ll get a gt3...don’t really wanna spent the kinda money for a Gt3 tho!
I don't really understand the GT3 Touring. What makes it a better daily driver then the "normal" GT3? Just the wing(or lack thereof)? How does losing the wing all of a sudden make it a daily driver? Guess you can say it attracts less attention, but IMO 911's are not really showy cars compared to others in the same price range to begin with.
Trevor It’s not just the wing, there’s less sound deadening. You can hear throttle opening, etc. it’s like driving a classic car with a modern car reliability.
The only difference between someone who owns one and someone who doesn't is belief and hard work. Plenty of rich people who never thought they'd be in the positions they are but always stayed positive.
Faisal Hassan I’ve been working hard for 38 years, believe me that doesn’t buy you a $200k car. The most important part is the mindset and intelligence to either be a business owner, entrepreneur or very high value employee. I’m just a worker, I’m okay with that, I’ve never earned more than $90k in a year and that’s not bad. I’m just glad that the people who have the money buy these cars, that way I get to look at them for free.
you still have plenty of time to turn things around and start something special. never have that mindset. I know you will be driving something like this in no time.
Hashim Ahmad There is a big difference between owning and affording. Not to mention, I would beat that car so severely, I would need a new one every few weeks. So.. I think I’ll just keep watching others enjoying them.
Matt, Did you notice any drone with that stock exhaust? You seem to quite like that stock exhaust setup. You didn’t mention the dreaded “D” word which would be impressive.
That’s very interesting. I wonder if that is attributed to the different cone style air filters used on the Touring. This according to Sun Coast parts.
Matt, the wing makes a huge difference in down force. check out www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2018-porsche-911-gt3-with-touring-package-first-drive-review The wing gives you 230 lbs more in down force when your flat out. You can order a GT3 or a GT3 RS without a wing if you like,
I don't know if you've talked about this but are all the guys at this meetup OG converts or do you find some guys don't have the detailing bug? Are there guys there who won't lend their car out to be driven by others like this?
There are a few converts, but most of them are not OG types. This group in the fall have become pretty fast friends, so they are more willing to share. I'm probably the most anal of any of them, but most of these guys are more accomplished drivers and can't do any worse than I would to the car.
That spec is perfect but I’m only 13 I know I will have the money in a few years to get one but I don’t know if I will be able to find the perfect one I also think this will be the last naturally aspirated Porsche I wish I could buy one now I hope when I get done with law school and I’m a lawyer I can get one I’ll get out of high school and go through law school and save and buy one when I start working.

Thanks man. I've tried very hard for years to get it down. I just can't get my brain to connect to my foot the way I want.
Everyone is bad at heel-n-toe at first. It took me years to get good at it. Now I do it through every green light turn. I drive an Infiniti G35 sedan. A lightweight sneaker helps, too.
the car rev matches too, no need

columbusLOFTS Urban Living beautiful spec! Enjoy!
Mexico blue is an epic color! I was wondering if this was actually Miami blue, but you seem to be an enthusiast and know exactly what you specc'd.
Was this car recently sold in Chicago around oct of 2020 I swear I saw this car in a showroom??
The title is so believable. You go through cars like I go through underwear
you should change your underwear more^^
@@TheCanky lmaoo
It’s not his car. Deceptive title.
did you read the description?
MaxSpeed
Max don’t get your panties in a bunch like most You tubers he only borrows cars to make videos. There just posers .
Seems like a lot of people don’t care for the wingless look but man I love it. I think it’s such a great looking car. So classy and sporty at the same time. Hopefully someday I’ll own one..

True the wing spoils the lovely lines

Adam Paul Sharkwerks?
Adam Paul how does this one compare to a 997.2 GT3RS?
This is a great GT car. I frequently travel 600 miles to Utah for building inspections. My 2012 4.0 is a different animal, much more track focused but smaller and lighter than the current 991.2
Adam Paul so, which I’ve would you pick between the 2. They are about the same price now. I would drive it 4-5 times a month. 300-400 miles per month.
This is one special variant of the GT3 line. The spec and color is very special. Smart move on Porsche to fulfill those folks who want a manual version and couldn’t get a 911R.
Adeel Cyril 95% of the 911R at 40% of current cost ... deal of the century
Brian Himmelman absolutely! Win win!
This new GT3 Touring has a better engine than the 911R. The new manual GT3 cars are actually made the 911R to a scam or a bad german joke.
krichd1 The 911R is still a fantastic car, in fact a lot of reviews hailed it as one of the best 911's ever made. Just because the new GT3 is very similar and some people may prefer it doesn't make the 911R a "scam or a bad joke"..

Sorry but I like a bit of variety, two GT3s, is like having two Raptors
GT3RS and GT3 touring are totally different cars
RubberDuck don't get so defensive that fast. He is just stating his opinion and not forcing him to not buy another Porsche.
RubberDuck get outta here with your overreacting ass
Manual GT3 is like “fresh lime juice” in your Margarita.
"heel-toeing" is not needed unless you're driving at the limit, near redline, and need to downshift while braking before exiting a corner. One thing from watching this series is the road surface - it’s pristine!
You got me with the title. I was about to be so upset..
I know what your saying about the 4.0 motor, it just feels alittle bit more solid. But for controllable back road n track fun nothing beats the Gt4. 👍🏼
Had anyone noticed passenger door miss alignment?
triggered!
Yep. Noticed that chrome trim didn't line up immediately. Probably a pretty easy fix if the owner wants it corrected.
Yes. Sadly. Yes I did. It’s a curse.
Yup. It’s VW at the end of the day!
BigGary79 probably not because it looks like the top and bottom of the door is aligned.
Wow, I wasn't aware of that.
I was shocked for a sec lol
GT3 is amazing, but M3 is a keeper.
Matt, You really need to attend the Skip Barber "Track Days" school down in Sebring, FL. I guarantee you will learn and appreciate all they have to offer you, not to mention you will get so much more out of your GT3 driving experience.
Agreed, it's on my list.
I also own an M4 with a Stg2 BM3 tune so more HP was not a requirement. looks like what people said about the 997 gt3 being the last manual. 718 gt4 rs coming in soon
Simple solution. 718 GT4
BJ Laughter fingers crossed
Love the colour on your video , on most photos Mexico does look darker unfortunately.
Would you say the color on your video is a good representation of the real Mexico blue ?
Thx
Those seats are amazing!!!!!
Patrick94GSR do you use your GT3 as a daily driver?
It's not a slushbox in the GT3. You can stay engaged with the transmission, you just aren't pushing a clutch in. The ultimate drivers car!
The RS 4.0 is my favourite. The prices on the 4.0 have increased greatly over the past 2 years. Saw one sold in LA in August for $400,00 US.(17000 miles) The 2018 Touring is a much more refined car and I use mine daily for my business.
That's my unicorn car. Someday I want to own one.
Thanks for the ride Matt.
thank you for all the awesome 911 videos lately
The good life! Enjoy!
Got me excited for a sec, but knew it was too good to be true. That Blue though...definitely.
Man that thing is killer. Manual ftw!
Jeeze that car is so sexy. You are very blessed for having the knowledge to get you the means to be able to be apart of that. I can grow and hope to achieve that some day.
Will always have a special place for Porsches...Would be amazing to drive every day
My absolute dream car!
This over all other cars on the road. No question.
You pulling into the cabin parking lot was the best part of the video. "Look at all those beauties"
I was thinking the same thing when I was editing it. I cut it out, and then thought, "I need to leave that awesomeness in there."
Pushing the boundaries of the term “daily driver”. As I look out my window at my Honda Jazz, balls to it, I’m going to work in the RS 🚙 Great video 😀
I like honda Jazz
That seems like the perfect car sense you aren’t really into tracking the RS.
I just love how relaxed your videos are.
Looks like a lot of fun on beautiful smooth roads. How is it in the real world of pot holes bridge expansion joints and rough patches
As Dave Chappelle says, "gotcha bitch" - lol!
I really like the Bob Ross of Porsche “We are just driving to the beach”
Ha, ha... I'm not going to lie. I was laughing at myself editing it back.
GT3 Touring is the right combination.
One factor you mentioned was the price. Have you ever driven a Carrera T? I know you are not a turbo engine guy as of late but it has a nice price point.
Patience is a virtue, I think Matt should wait for Porcshe to get the 4.0L 991.2 from 9.5/10 to 12/10, wait 2 years, it will be worth it
you should do another configurator video for a touring !
Although the M3 is 1/2 the price !and much easier to get insurance as the GT3 is regarded as a track car by the insurance.
I’m waiting my delivery of a 911 991.2 Turbo
You are so lucky to drive all of those cars.....wow...what an experience.
It was surreal.
Those seats are crazy. Love em
Sticker on this car has to be at $185-190.
Man I really don't like that trim around the windows. Chrome/silver looks really out of place. Although I do like how it makes a continuous loop around both the door glass and the quarter glass. I just think black trim would look a ton better.
Obviously a great looking car, you surprise me with this color choice😳
I just fall in love with this car everytime I see it. Soon.
You still have more integrity/transparency than any other car TH-cam channel but I’m calling a mild case of click bait on this one. And ya know what.. I’m OK with it! You do you, Matt.
Ha, ha... I thought I mess with you all for giving me such a hard time saying I'd sell the M3 in 5 months.
Touring? Isn't that some kind of station wagon? Love the color.
beautiful spec
Keep in mind folks the Touring is different than a standard GT3. It’s louder on the inside because it gets the same treatment as the 911R. More noise and less sound deadening. Not bad!
Keep telling yourself that.
Got stuck with one? lol Yeah you got me. Don't know what to do, I can't even give the car away nobody wants one since it has a wing.
I love the way you matching color by shirt
Yup! You got me with that title dude 😁!! I literally jumped outta bed like ‘what’ he just got the M3?
Ha, ha...
Obsessed Garage
The click-bait is real. 😁
I don't think thats a click-bait tho.. he did mentioned before he wants a GT3 touring instead of M3 in his previous vids which was he driving the gt3 manual or Gt4, I can't recall.
Nice drive ! You said gt3 touring or the GT4, i say what about the 997 GT3 RS as a daily? I still love the 997 GT3 RS !!!
Wow out of all the late-model Porsche cars I’ve heard this one sounds the closest to my Subaru!
I’d have to echo what I’ve seen a few people say. I think a Touring and an RS is a bit much. Why not the RS, and a GT4? Seems like that would be a much better range of cars.
I think the GT4 would make a crappy daily.
Two GT3’s? Why not
I LOVE the seats man, both cool and beautiful!
if you did not have your .1 RS and you were buying a GT car only one which would you get? GT4, GT2 RS, GT3, Touring, GT3 RS.1 or GT3 RS.2?
.2 RS
Best all around Porsche ever.
Just out of curiosity Matt, what types of paint protection are on all these cars you have test driven these past few days? And what do the owners think of about what they are using?
Most of them have Xpel on them.
But at what cost increase though?
Wish I had these sorts of problems
Only lasted 1 video! Lol. I said a long time ago GT3 touring manual to compliment the RS! I'd opt out of the buckets on the touring.
Matt, would you do Center Sharkwerks bypass or Fabspeed side muffler deletes (weight) ? Downsides?
I would probably do Sharkwerks bypass on that car.
That GT4 doesn’t compare to the GT3. Totally different level
damn, that is a nice car.
What an amazing vehicle! If you've driven a 997.2 Carrera S, how would a 20k mileage manual with a 9" aftermarket carplay headunit compare for a daily driver? I was considering this myself as a balance between cost, fun factor, and cost (~ $50k).
The 991 is just so much better, that I'd be hard pressed to go back that far.
Gt3 over M3? Lemme think!
Matt the Dundon street system on the 991.2 GT3 give 40 lbs of peak torque around 4400 ... do you think this can be felt with manual ? Thank you
You can definitely tell.
was the first part of video in bear lake reserve??
I'd take it in that colour too!
Not even up that glorious redline once. No comment (pun intended)
I've loved all the comparison vids. But please can you put your gt3 rs decals on and Porsche badge at front just looks better
Nope

You can hear throttle opening, etc. it’s like driving a classic car with a modern car reliability.
lighter clutch too I think
Great video. Thanks Matt!
From a driving experience, any difference between this and the winged manual GT3 you drove?
No, they are pretty much identical. Maybe a slightly different intake sound due to a little different air box.
My dream car.
Anthracite trim should have been leather. $0 cost option!
Hey quick question? Hows the wind and tire noise in this touring model compared to a 991 gt3 rs?
It's pretty much the same.
The Touring is probably the greatest all around sports car ever built. I will never be able to own one.
Everythingisgoingtobealright strongly agree !! Epic
The only difference between someone who owns one and someone who doesn't is belief and hard work. Plenty of rich people who never thought they'd be in the positions they are but always stayed positive.

I’ve been working hard for 38 years, believe me that doesn’t buy you a $200k car.

There is a big difference between owning and affording. Not to mention, I would beat that car so severely, I would need a new one every few weeks. So.. I think I’ll just keep watching others enjoying them.
M3 to gt3 is quite the jump
Does this have a different engine to the 991.2 GT3 RS ?
Matt, Did you notice any drone with that stock exhaust? You seem to quite like that stock exhaust setup. You didn’t mention the dreaded “D” word which would be impressive.
No drone.
That’s very interesting. I wonder if that is attributed to the different cone style air filters used on the Touring. This according to Sun Coast parts.
Marq Key yes apparently BMC cones ... thinking a Sharkwerks will amplify sound 20% and less 16 lbs rear and little to no drone
I thought... yup, he is crazy.
When’s the next OG get together in the mountains of TN/NC? I don’t have a Facebook.
Next summer
I want it!
You did not answer!! GT4 or GT3 touring?
Previously you said the Manual feels better in the GT4.
GT3 Touring
i PRAY THIS HAPPENS!!!!!!
Good luck man. I didn't get my GT3 until I was 34.
