thank you, mr. mehta !
The enterance of the Don always thrills me. Ildiko Raimondi is absolutely beautiful. This is a fine performance.
Bravo!
It's one of my favourite - that's the true nature of Don Giovanni!
fantastico leporello e tutti gli altri!
Protegga il giusto cielo - at i's best. THAT is opera. Pure perfection.
All are perfect... !
magnifique!!!!!!! surtout le trio des masques!!!!
I have a lot of opera CDs, and I listen to them while driving.
Furlanetto is never going to stop playing this role.
Super.Thanks.Greting from Poland.Bravisimo.dr Vasyl Maria Stratulat
Небесный терцет чудо этой оперы. Bravi a tutti!
mozart was not an ordinary being....HE WAS DIVINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like sights when we see orchestra playing and making kind of waves with white of clothes
wunderbar
Don Giovanni will be in Hungary, in BUDAPEST! 2021.09.04.MÜPA!!!
"Szerelmes" vagyok Mozartnak ebbe a művébe...
he's amazing. he was such a great Boris Godunov last spring!
GRAN OPERA
Historians know that he worked over manuscripts, moved sections, changed details over time in the manner of Beethoven and other composers. They also have evidence he was an intelligent man who knew many subjects. That almost no one else is a great as he is makes sense. Some people like Glenn Gould put him down but not many. I agree that the results sound perfect (maybe, because they usually are!). Thanks for commenting.
Mehta so young :)
well...lookin at his style and way of composing, its hard to beleive how he composed wit miraculous ease. thats y i called him divine...but i do see ur point too :)
Furlanetto is perfect!
What do you think of 6:33-8:39? One of the best things I've ever listened to. How could Mozart have the imagination of putting this celestial music in the middle of this Finale of profane melodies?
SU SVEGLIATEVI DA BRAVI!
'none of them IS an angel,' please!
Uhm..I don't think so, on her website they say she's an "Austrian singer". But I am not quite sure about her descent, because they don't mention anything about this.
Furnie is very good at doing this, how old was he, like 70?
109 likes to 12 dislikes pretty well tells the story
omg here furlanetto is soo old =(
Well, yes and no! He worked hard to create these works. He had help, but the wonder is that one of us could create this music.
Why do you say that?
@MaxwellsDemon9
yes, your are right. he destroys my opera.
Tenor´s voice rules the universe: singing even the baritone roles.
Edita Gruberova has had a distinguished career, singing in major opera houses around the world, but I for one am wondering about her acclaim. Time after time, role after role, I hear her sliding from note to note on runs that should be sung staccato rather than as slurs.
Her voice is there, the notes are there and all of it sounds wonderful and beautiful but I wish she would stop sounding like a kazoo, and instead attack each note in a run with a separate tiny breath of the diaphragm -- instead of using the smoothness of legato from one note to another.
You would think that Thomas Hampson would be the perfect Giovanni. Not so. Hampson's biggest problem here is that the young Masetto Boaz Daniel has a richer, firmer voice. When Tibbett was cast as Falstaff late in his career he "protested" the young Leonard Warren as Ford. He didn't want him to do what he had done to Scotti so many years before. Hampson should have "protested" Daniel.
Good lord. A younger baritone is not his biggest problem. He can hold his own. As for any apparent decline: He just thinks too much about how he sounds. He ends up making weird, unsupported sounds a lot in some bizarre search for resonance.
What is the point of an opera without acting ? Looks absurd ...
hampson is so NOT don giovanni
Well, if domingo sing Simone, Hampson why not as D.G.. Only that Hampson was always a tenor with no high notes with a mediocre voice. If he heard Siepi singing this role, he will never attent to do it. He is a joke !
