To all those who voice criticism of Hvorotovsky-I am 73 years old and I have NEVER heard a baritone this good. You can live in hope, but you will never hear the like of this again.
I have just heard Erwin Schrott as Don Giovanni from The ROH. He was outstanding, so I came back to TH-cam to find Mr Hvorostovsky in the role. He is just on another level, and it will be a very long time before the operatic world is graced with such a voice again. RIP 🌷🌷🌷
That was very, very lovely. Renee Fleming's voice sounds just as fresh and crystal clear ethereal as it did before she slimmed down and boy is she a beauty. renee really has the most unique soprano voice i've ever heard. and that is SO refreshing because all too often everyone sounds just like the next person. but she breaks so many molds with many of her stylistic nuances and with her instrument in general. i LOVE it.
The female part of the duet is sung by Zerlina, which is typically a soubrette/light lyric role. La Renee is a full lyric, but I could never refuse her any role she desired to sing (at least, in concert!)

It’s easy to forget how effortlessly Fleming brought real emotion and humanity to her signing- Of course others had that quality but combine that with her top tier sound makes for a unique presentation. I always like listening to her and comps those who might cavil to other Greta singers she alwasy sounds fresh but I contrived as well as beautiful. This who cavil about her vibrato etc overlook she is the anodyne to analytical robotic computer generated perfect pitch singing . My 2 year old, seriously, could pick her sound out from a variety of women doing this duet, including Bartoli. One can make the case bartoli has the dynamics, native Italian and drama, but nobody speak/sings to the audience quiet like l Fleming when it comes to la cI darem…..
Guys, let the people sing like THEY want, not in Mozarts taste! Each human is individuell and has his own understanding of music and the audience decides, which she/he likes the most for his own opinion !
