6:02 the other BIG guy playing craps I’m this scene is actually Michael Clarke Duncan. He plays John Coffey in The Green Mile, King Pin in Daredevil (the movie one), Manute in Sin City, Bear in Armageddon and was also in The Whole Nine Yards with Bruce Willis. Though he wasn’t given much screen time at all in this movie, just a blink and you’ll miss it scene.

My husband talks in his sleep and I got him on video a few weeks ago saying “you got knocked the f out!” and then he died laughing in his sleep! I laughed so hard I woke him up. Then I showed him the video and he laughed harder than I did! Wish y’all could see it. 😂 He is 52 and knows every line from this movie. Classic!

Fun fact: this was filmed in a gang area and that brick is still missing from the front of the house.
I remember watching this with my friend one summer, and I was a little thrown off by how small scale the movie was compared to all the bombastic blockbusters I was used to. Then I thought about it, and I realized that's part of what makes this movie so good. On top of being hilarious, it's a relatable, down to earth story about a young man learning to stand up for himself and others. Even if it's just to that small community of neighbors, he's a hero in his own right.
to this day Friday is still Ice Cube's best film series.
I loved the first two, but couldn't stand part.3.
I enjoyed the Beauty Shop spin-off as well, it wasn't as funny as Barbershop but still enjoyable.
For me, this is the Ice Cube golden era.
Also Chris Tucker is special in any movies in those year range he's in.
I actually just watched this film for the first time recently and it’s one of the funniest 90’s films I have ever seen. Not to mention how god damn quotable it is. “Bye Felicia” “You got knocked the f*** out!” & “DAAAAAAAAAAMN!” are some of my favorites. Also I cannot stop listening to “Keep Their Heads Ringin’” by Dr. Dre, such a banger soundtrack!
I like the comparison y'all did with Clerks because that's how I see it, too. Clerks is so damn relatable in terms of dead end job, but Friday is relatable in terms of...well... that's the environment I grew up in haha

YES! So glad you guys are back! Loved your reactions to Friday. I was like 15 when it was released and it was the last movie that the local theater was showing before going out of business. The entire room was packed with high schoolers and middle schoolers, there were joints being passed around…it was insanity and I can’t believe I got to go. If my parents only knew. 😂 ANYWAYS I really hope you guys get to review the whole KARATE KID trilogy! 2 and 3 were both classics along with the 1st. Each with classic villains and stories.
Back when this came out on video, my siblings and I were super poor. This was one of the few movies we had on VHS and watched it everyday after school. I can still say line for line 😂
Jon Witherspoon is missed dearly.. he is one of the funniest men to ever do it lol
And his speech to Craig about not shooting people is legendary.. because using a gun to make you a tough guy is the most cowardly thing you can do

@NiceDudeMovieNight he was grandpa on the Boondocks cartoon that was on aldult swim. If you all have never seen that show. The first 3 seasons are some of the funniest animated comedy you will ever see!

This is an all-time top movie played at the homies house when hanging out, getting ready for the club, getting haircuts, drinking, playing cards, BBQ'n. Even the cousins put it on to distract us from the Aunties and Uncles hanging out😂. The TV was used up till it died, lol. Something was always playing.😅
That scene with Craig and his dad in the bathroom hits too close to home for me; my dad used to do the same damn thing. First time I saw this movie, when that scene came on, I got PTSD...lol.
for those who want to know, the "fuck you" lady in the beginning was played by Lawanda page, one of the most hilarious woman who used blue comedy, observational humor, character comedy, and physical comedy to share vignettes about sexuality and religion that drew howling laughter from her audiences for a better part of 50 years.
she actually used to be known as the "bronze goddess of fire" in St Louis before Red Fox offered her a part in his upcoming tv show now known as the classic "Sanford and son" where she played "aunt Esther" Sanford's deceased wife's sister, she was critical of Sanford who's only comeback was the tried and true ghetto classic of calling her ugly. went on to play the most zealot christian type on almost every black tv show and movie, from the richard pryor show all the way to friday.
along with John Witherspoon, she is one of the many greatly underrated black entertainers.
And remember cube wrote this back when he first left NWA, with zero experience in the industry really outside of one acting role
The two big guys in the flashback, Tiny Lister and Michael Clark Duncan, have both passed.
I love this movie. Before this, Ice Cube was only known for NWA, but this started his acting and writing career. The sequel, "Next Friday" is almost as good, definitely worth the time to watch.
This came out in 1995, he was in "Boyz n the hood" in 1991 and 4 other movies before this came out. This was the first where he was credited as a screenwriter, but this was his 6th acting credit.

This movie was one tht got played at least 4 times a month in college. Regina king and jon Witherspoon were in the boondocks together. There was an episode with a rap group that moved into their neighborhood and had a beef with Witherspoon's character. The group had a diss track with grandad character looking like Witherspoon's character in Friday.

I was in my early 20s when this movie came out. I had the soundtrack on regular rotation. Love this movie.

The fact Ice Cube wrote this, it feels like it was his own experiences as a younger teen. Loved this movie though, the sequels aren't so good. They miss Chris Tucker, I do recommend Boyz in The Hood, though it's way more gritty and real

This was EXCELLENT guys. I think out of all the movies you've put up on this channel you laughed at this one the hardest! If you love Chris Tucker check him out in the Rush Hour film trilogies.

The black store employee is the director of the film. Ice Cube wanted to do a 4th and final film but wasn't able to get Chris Tucker due to budget, many studios didn't want to produce the film and 4 main actors such as Deebo, Pops, Ezel and the Pastor (Tiny Lister Jr, John Witherspoon, Anthony Johnson and Bernie Mac) have since left us.
Tiny Lister Jr portrayed Deebo in a couple of insurance commercials with him on the same squeaky bicycle he stole from Red. Many actors in the film weren't paid much as it was on a super small budget but became an official hood classic.
For another hood comedy there is one called and a Wayans film Don't be a menace. It's full title name is Don't be a menace while drinking your juice in South Central. Don't be a menace is probably even more crazy and wacky than Kung Fu Hustle.

You said your favorite movie is Clerks. Today I actually got to meet Kevin Smith/Silent Bob and Jason Mewes/Jay. Both guys were so cool to meet. Kevin takes his time with fans to talk with them. Jason was a cool dude to talk with also. I recorded a video of Jason on a racer thing and the woman was on an electric wheelchair. They both raced each other. The woman yells out I’m letting him win. When I got my photo op with them both I told Jason nice race yesterday lol he said cool thanks lol

I don't think The Bud they smoke would be worth Much Today so the Fact that they face such Severe Consequences for smoking it makes it so much worse.

Barbershop is very similar to this and I would also recommend. Hilarious comedy with some really good drama strewn throughout.
It's funny with a strong heart. And while it's a product of its time, there's never been one like it since.

Classic! Ice cube put on a lot of people in the Friday movies. Chris Tucker got his big break in this which led to some of his other classics like Rush Hour and Money Talks (which I highly recommend watching if you haven't seen it). The other Friday movies are good too although not as good as the 1st one probably.

My girlfriend made me sit down and watch this with her, and I just about died from laughing so hard... She said that this movie is almost exactly what it's like living in the 'hood, (she's black, btw), and stuff like in this movie is almost a normal, everyday occurrence 🤣
I really think these guys even if off-screen should watch Are We Done Yet. It's also Ice Cube in the lead role but then with the dumb comedy that they love (even including that guy from Scrubs as the whackiest multirole ever).
