Areet Chris? Great video, it really cheered me up while in hospital battling covid.. quality fat Pollock, I could watch those being landed all day long. Keep up the good work!
Oh no Iain! I hope they let you out soon man. In the meantime though..could I borrow your ZX Spectrum…? Seriously though Iain I hope you’re fighting fit again soon matey 🤞
Another excellent video! I live in Whitley Bay and have been a shore fisherman for most of my life. Most of my shore fishing is done in winter and mainly at Sandy Bay as I had a caravan there for over 40 years and know the area well.( in fact I have been mackerel fishing today at Newbiggin Bay without success )I've dabbled in boat fishing over the years having had a couple of boats, one which was on a trailer which we used mainly off Newbiggin, and one which was stored in a boat compound at the South end of Newbiggin beach. It was definitely a young mans hobby, launching and retrieving ! We had a tractor which made things a bit easier, but it was still hard work. I'm 68 now and my boat days are long gone, but my one regret when watching your kayak adventures is that they were not around when I was younger. I really appreciate your videos, and your love of fishing is there for all to see. Keep up the good work !!
Thanks Kevin, I’m so glad you’re enjoying my videos. Get a kayak with a trolling motor and you’re good to go I say! I was out from Whitley yesterday and it was a bit slow. Still managed 7 or 8 out in a few hours but the fog forced me back in. Tight lines matey 👍
It’s a great mark but the launch is very surfy so it needs to be flat calm. It’s also a good few k to the mark. I only got out there the once last year. I’ll be doing a few trips this year though it’s top if my list! 🎣🎣
Can I be brutally honest, when I first came a cross you're vids, you done my head in with you're laughing and joking like that bloody John Wilson, I am now you're biggest fan, I love getting out on the yak and love you're non serious approach.
Not sure why I've only just found your channel but I'm glad I did. I've just got my first yak so will be heading out up near dunny Castle next time I'm up your way.
Another stunning video. Good to see how excited you get when fishing and the respect that you show to the fish. Very well done . Stay safe and tight lines. Mike.
Thanks very much Mike, I’ve never been a 😎 cool angler. I get excited for every single trip and every single fish. Sometimes I can’t sleep the night before!
Great video and some cracking fish - this is an area we are just starting to explore (we're moored up in Amble). We visited it last week and couldnt get past the cod (first world problems!) so hoping to head back tomorrow and catch the elusive pollack as we've never had one yet!
Cracking fish there. Heard rumours that Hauxley held some nice fish and you've just proved it. Will need to get out there and give it a try. BTW, you must have been roasting in your dry suit!!
Cheers Nathan, I had my eye on it for ages, the ground looked amazing on Navionics so I was just waiting for the weather, and yes, I was a tad warm by the end of the day! You should give it a go, definitely worth the paddle.
Cracking video mate, I'm from this neck of the woods and have just bought myself a sit on fishing kayak. Fished Blyth Pier today and it was choka block. I need to get out on the water and fish some places where there's not so many people. Bought a sit on fishing kayak which arrives Wednesday, going to start off easy and get used to the kayak staying well within the bays. got to get myself a fish finder, a life jacket and two way radio before I go out. Any tips you can give is much appreciated. Ill be looking to fish places like Whitely, Blyth, Newbigin, Lynmouth, Cambois, Druridge when the conditions are right obviously.
Hiya mate, you won’t regret getting into kayak fishing it’s a different world compared to the shore. You’re gonna love it. I would suggest joining a couple of Facebook groups North East Kayak Anglers, Kayak Fishing Uk, Anglers Afloat etc. lots of local lads on there, people often post on there when they’re going out as well. Tight lines mate 👍🎣
I don't do face book lol... Well all kitted up now radios, licensed and registered etc etc looking forward to getting out on the water this weekend weather permitting. Thanks for the reply and tight lines everyone. keep up the good work with your channel mate you got me hooked
Hello mate, cracking videos! I’m from Ashington so close enough to duriidge, just wondering mate I’ve just taking up fishing this year and am after a yak now, I know you use the sturgeon fx, I am just wondering which lures you use, which rod to use for yak spinning rod? And what weight line cheers mate
Hi Darren mate, I use the 25g ones. Tribute minnows aren’t actually a thing, it’s just a daft name I use for cheap Chinese versions of the Fiiish Black Minnow. I prefer the real deal but have still caught stacks of fish on the tributes. I order them direct from China.
@@onthedropfishing i dont suppose you would let us know where we could get them? Links or websites to order the chinese copies ? Great channel by the way. I fish out of Blyth so im not far away. 👌
wht brand of kayak do you use ?? i live in florida and got in to kayak fishing 2 years a go . i worked 24 yeays on party/head boats in florida and road island .in the north cod /poleck / and so on. like you fishing stay safe from across the pond.
Hi Bear, I’m using a Galaxy Sturgeon FX. I really like it. It’s fast, stable and not too expensive. In some regions it’s called the Alboran FX. Pedals are much easier than paddles i find. Tight lines my friend and I hope the weather here is half as good as Florida today. 😃👍🎣
Cheers Robin, so the swing arm and the base plate are both railblaza. In this vid I’m using a Striker 4 plus (I’ve just upgraded to a Lowrance 5 reveal) and I’m just using what came in the box to attach it to the base plate. I’ve done the same with my new finder. Hope that helps?
@@tomfletcher44 I’m glad you meant hat! I thought I’d missed something 😂 you can get them from usual places. Glad you’re enjoying the vids as well, new upload tomorrow night 👍
Great video good fishing , what size rod and reel are you using ? I've just gotten a kayak and was wondering would the 8ft ugly stick elite be too long for a yak ? Cheers
Hi Michael, glad you enjoyed it. I use a 6ft and sometimes a 7ft rod. You’ll be fine with 8ft I imagine, a tad on the long side but I’m sure it’ll be okay.
Hi Jack, I replied to your other comment mate with regards the effectiveness of the scent. The ones I’ve randomly been using are squid, blood worm and vanilla 👍🎣
Great videos china. I see you have the Sturgeon FX and assume your previous boat was a Sturgeon by the look of it. I came close to getting a Sturgeon a few years ago but didn't. However, I'm seriously considering the FX now. How do you find it and how are Galaxy to deal with? I've been sea angling since the 70's, mostly shore but a fair bit of boat too. Looking to get into kayaking. I'm in North East Scotland so similar ground to your area. Any advice and guidance appreciated.
Hi mate, I loved my old sturgeon and I love the FX even more. Galaxy UK are a small setup and the service is first rate. That’s my experience and all I’ve ever heard from others. Don’t forget to budget for all of your safety gear fist then kayak second. You’ll need your drysuit, pfd and floating vhf radio. You’ll want a fish finder with gps as well for when the fog rolls in. It’s a great sport and I’m sure you’ll love it. 👍🎣
@@onthedropfishing Thanks for that. Yeah, I've got a list of equipment I need to get. My intentions are probably to get the kayak first as well as the basic safety equipment and only use it very close to shore (ie within my safe swimming distance) for a start and over the winter build up by kit, skills and confidence month by month until I'm ready to venture further as of next spring. What make/type of dry suit would you recommend? They seem to be very pricey. Cheers!!
I see there's a Sturgeon FX2 on the go now. All I can see are videos in Spanish so hard to tell the differences except it has a bigger storage well in front of the seat. Dunno what it'll cost or when the UK store will have them. Might be worth me holding off for one or for a price drop on the existing one.😁
Pun intended, I’m utterly hooked on these superb videos. Thanks so much Chris.
