Great video looks really good. Another method for this is to take a large block of foam like you have and completely make a custom shape. After you have your shape you can seal the foam and make a mold from this. This will allow you to make as many flares/widebody parts as you like and they can be made from carbon fiber, fiberglass, kevalar, or any composite.
If I were going to do this I would 3d scan the foam wide body into some 3d software and then make the mold for it from there, I feel like that would be better to make both sides even cause you can just mirror the mold
So glad your channel showed up on my feed. "Subscribed". Your step-by-step is choice!!! Thorough vocal and visual instruction, with no edit-outs...you describe and show it all. AND you show how to make them uniform on BOTH SIDES!!! This is gonna be a huge help for me! You've got a new subscriber and follower. Great job young buck!
I chopped tops and did chopped tops and many door mods and so much more custom things in my custom paint shop. I did paint my first car at age 9.. I was already looking at cars very early age and then the movie Corvette Summer did for me and put me in action at age 8 to restore a 1964 Pontiac Tempest 4-door straight 6 cylinder engine and finished it age age 9 in the month of june and my B-day is july 4... I never stopped learning and learned by doing. Keep up the nice work!!!!
I dont know how I am just discovering this channel. But this process is perfect for what I am looking for. Thank you for taking the time to explain your process!
Allen Evans Depends on how much you’re willing to spend. They’ve nearly doubled in price in the last two years. I’d need to get at least $15k to even consider selling mine but she’s got a ton of work and top shelf parts in her.
I drive an 04 GTO and there's little to no aftermarket body stuff for them. This is the first thing I could find that was able to give me any ideas or direction on making my own, thanks so much! I'll definitely subscribe and turn on notifications.
I rarely comment on car vids..and, if I do, it's mainly to criticize the builder. But, I've got to hand it to you, bud. You powered thru a shit ton of labor hours and actually completed something. Which most people don't (myself included). yeah, in my opinion...you did more work than you needed to...but, using retail products..cheap equipment...and doing this ALL outside, you totally crushed it..!!! great job. For some (or any) of your other body mods...consider using a two part expanding foam. Ordered online (2gal kit x 4lb density=$120 shipped). 2gal kit will build your flairs, hood mods, front and rear diffusers and additional ground mods. (on a small import). Here's the process. And, you'll save serious cash, in the end. Prep surface for reals..(foam will be permanent).. Teflon tape or foil tape cardboard forms.. (spray shields from home depot).. Cut and place your forms onto the car in the general shape of the mod profile.. Seal any gaps with foil tape.. Pour 10oz part A and 10oz part B into a freezer bag, squish and shake for 5 seconds. Snip a pencil diameter hole in one corner...pour into corners first..let it flow naturally after that. Repeat this step in "lifts". As not to create large gas bubbles.. Remove forms and start creating with sandpaper, hacksaw blade etc. (you're a pro at that, anyway) Blow remaining dust away... and use any large dispenser epoxy to coat your modded area (again, home depot etc..) Thin epoxy with MPK (Methyl Propal Ketone)..and apply with disposable chip brushes. At this point, (when cured = 24hrs) you can go at the mods with your usual thin coats of plastic filler and primer. Enjoy the benefits of less labor (you're welcome). lol
Damn dude,I'm just seeing ur channel for the 1st time. I'm pretty much where you started at months ago. I've come to the realization that if I'm gonna widebody my ride,it's going to be home made. Exactly like you said, their are a few kits(03 mx5,87 Fiero gt), for the 2 projects me and a relative have been getting ready to start. It's kinda you help w mine,I help w yours type deal. He's good w bodywork, where I'm new to it. I'm good with motors/mechanical aspects of it. The engines, suspension, tranny's etc, that's rather easy as we've both been gathering parts for over a year. But when it comes to body style, wide body, effects etc, neither one of us really see what we're looking for. Especially mine(fiero), very few wb kits, what is out there is really on the square/boxey side. We both, especially me,want it to flow w the car and look, almost as if it was made today. Not either overboard fast n furious type,or just some square panels bolted to a car.
First vid I've ever seen of yours....... liked and subscribed. I look forward to seeing more!! You give pros, cons, and challenges you face, and THAT is appreciated! I'm an 8th gen Civic owner, and I know that feeling when they only give you one or two widebody options and how much it can suck... I enjoyed your creativity, and you are an inspiration for taking that somewhat scary step in customizing your own widebody...
Yesss!! Another guy like myself that just cant leave anything basic....love it. I do a lot of custom kids pedal planes and rc robotics builds... Advice... Clear packing tape will not stick to fiberglass. Use your blue tape first then layer the clear tape next then the. When cured the glass will pop right off. Sheet rocking spackle putty or totalboat polyester repair putty Can do use like Bondo went in an upright position and it will not droop or drip down like Bondo how do you do this allows you to use a spatula or putty knife to form the basic shape easily without taking things off the car it’ll also allow you to sand it a lot faster than Bondo will let you do and it’s not heavy at all. Use a cheese grator while the bondo has become tacky to knock down the bigger clumps before it fully cures. U can do a wet rag wipedown with a rag soaked in acetone to smooth it even more to void lot of sanding too. You made it happen dude! Looks great...
Don't wait for Bondo to Cure Before Sanding. Before it gets completely HARD, use a Bodyshop specific 10in. Cheesegrater to rasp %70 of your bulk then when HARD, start sanding. This will save you a bunch of sanding time. Fantastic Job BTW, I never made my own fender flares so this was cool to watch. I have a 97 Prelude that has a $4k Paint Job and I'm still need to complete it. I have a Bunch of Ideas brewing in my head after watching this. Thank You
It's looking great. I'd love to see what you'd add to the side skirts and bumper if you would at anything at all I could definitely see a special lip or diffuser and along with some sideskirts that reach up to that front flare done in the style of that rear flare
Looks so sick dude. I thought you had like hundreds of thousands of subs when i watched this vid. Underrated af but Great editing and of course awesome build!
Ayooo 2022 I bought a MR2 last month. I fixed everithing needed, tune up. Etc, now that I want to wide body the car I came across this video! Nice video ❤️❤️
Pretty nice. I give u much credit for fabbing your own kit. The car now has the general shape of the Ferrari 355(?.. i think thats the model i have in mind. Nice. I actually want to find a school to learn how to make and mass produce body kits.
Props man! It's cool to see your process and seeing your style and design come to life! A lot of other TH-cam vlogers just buy kits and bolt ons, nice to see someone take there time and the love for automotive aesthetics show in your work. Great work! 👍
Just the video I needed to work my rocker skirts, I did not want to buy aftermarker and have to drill new holes on the rockers of my Mustang , I want to utlize the original mounting holes and all I want to do is to extend a flap on top of the original skirt past the door under the side scoop. This fits my Bill!,I have worked with fiberglass in the past , but foam fabrication is new to me, thanks for the learning experience! Cheers!
I just subscribed! I have a 2014 Dodge Charger Pursuit that is very difficult to find any good aftermarket body parts for and you just inspired me to take a chance and do it myself! Thank you!
Too many pieces will make it feel rice. I think you should work on the front a little and call it a day. *EDIT, just watched a later video, the side skirts and front look great! nicely done!
It came out great dude! Working with some flares on my Integra (now rear wheel drive) And I love this because I already have some clinched flares. I had some BRZ rocket bunny flares, but the seemed to need a lot more work to really be right. Great job!
Not bad man. I can appreciate things being made by hand. Experience is everything. Now you can learn from it. You should of just layed 3 layers of fiberglass on the back side instead of all the fiberglass bondo. Bondo & fiberglass bondo should be put in thin layers, it can still crack. Prime those fender holes, outside & in. You would be surprised how things rust.
Pretty underrated channel, watched a couple of your old videos now and theyre pretty informative which is nice would love to be able to afford a project car someday but being a student supporting myself with a part time job it doesnt really work out like that lol
great video. not all that horseshit clickbait vlogging people do. You're really young (or at least look young) and you're killing the game. keep it up. definitely referencing this video when im going wide next winter
TBills 3000 Fiberglass would be easier but I'd have to do it at summer if I wanted the fiber glass to dry some day lol. I want the car to look like it came from the factory with the widebody and it needs to be very rigid so I think the metal would be the best option. Maybe I just need to get two same side fenders from junkyard and start practicing.
Just came across you channel, love it, like yourself, I'm trying to have a body kit on my MiniCooper S ... I will keep check more of your videos and bombard you with suggestions for my project ....
if you're worried about the strength of a joint, get the stainless mesh they sell for body work (its meant to fix holes in body panels to give bondo a stronger base in case of rust holes and such ) think 3M has a product called adhesive body patch... basically combined with that fiberglass bondo you make steel reinforced concrete essentially :D
What I do at work is when we put on flares on trucks they come with a long strip of molding and since it doesn’t get used every time i tend to save them. I’ve used it on a few rocket bunny kits for auto shows around me and even the curves on a rocket bunny brz kit the molding fits great. Maybe try looking into that. Mr2 looks great though!
You are by far a better video and what you have a hard-working done compared to others on the TH-cam channel that either purchase something and but did not create their own great job only use some of your ideas on my old E46
Awesome job man looks gr8 gave me a lil more comfort for my build going to be making my own body kit for my 1990 celica gts keep up the good work man👍🏻
Looks beautiful man, two questions though. Noticed you left a link in the description for the wheels, were they just wider wheels? Also, do the axles and subsequently the driveshaft need to be modified, or can a wide body be done without messing with all that jazz?
This is awesome man I love widebody cars and I love mr2s and the most awesome part is your doing this by urself. I just subscribed and I look through ur playlist def videos I like to watch keep it up bro!
Here I am. 2am. Don't even own a car.
Here we are

I was thinking the same thing. That's what im going to do when i widebody my miata. A Proper widebody.
If I were going to do this I would 3d scan the foam wide body into some 3d software and then make the mold for it from there, I feel like that would be better to make both sides even cause you can just mirror the mold
How to make your own wide body kit
Step 1: buy a widebody kit as a template
Kyle Verduin lol
Have you ever made custom parts from scratch?
@@kylefletcher2238 yeah I was just joking lol. He does great work
@@duin2in they're annoying especially with old tryna get noth sides identical
yeah i think the correct title would of been modifying wide body kit
Good to see you using a breathing mask while sanding .Smart.
video starts man wtf are you doing, video ends Damn man wtf did you do. Great finished product!
I totally agree. For a home made, garage built fender flaring, they came out great. I had no idea masking tape would be so structural!
You need to have more subs. Another great underrated channel :(
I can give you a shoutout man. I have approximately 37k subs if you'd like that.
I agree. Similar to my favorite youtuber Home built by Jeff. Thats a super good thing lol but yeah great stuff man.
Cars Overdose l
BUILT how would having more subscribers get you to "produce" these videos faster??
Kkk

U need some side skirts to tie front and rear overfenders together cosmetically. Nice job.
just painting the rocker trim would help the rears intwgrata better

Wow did u basically explain how to do everything he just did but quicker and better?
This is cleanest diy I’ve ever seen man unappreciated bro I respect you
that's one legit home built kit. good job!!!
9:42 love that you're not ashamed to have a kid hanging out. I think I have his shirt too, same size! nice build!!
Some custom side skirts made from molding with those foam blocks would really tie those overfenders together. Keep up the good work man!

Came out great! Funny how much the kit/side of the mr2 reminds me of the Avalanche 911
Awesome dude!!! What a journey but the work paid off. It looks Awesome !!!
Looks so sick dude. I thought you had like hundreds of thousands of subs when i watched this vid. Underrated af but Great editing and of course awesome build!
Subbed, great work man. Super clean car, and I've just gotta say this was one of the easiest to watch car tutorials I've seen on TH-cam.

nice, now i can make my own rocket bunny toyota corolla
New to your channel. Really enjoy watching you fabricate. You’re super creative. On top of that. Your son definitely makes me laugh. What a kid. Lol

First video I watched from you and I just gotta subscribe. This is the type of content I want to find on TH-cam. Keep up the good work.
garden trim works really good for between the panels
Top job! Result is a damn site nicer than the other home made wide kit vids I've seen so far. will subscribe
Those flares look friggin amazing
I wish I had the passions for body work, amazing job.
Bullbutter

Bro, that is one of the sickest MR2s I have ever seen. Great work on the kit! Way to go!
Nice, but the back fender alone look weird, a little unfinished. I think you should get side skirt.
BUILT Or cut the rear fender up higher. Either way thats a great looking car you've made.
Too many pieces will make it feel rice. I think you should work on the front a little and call it a day. *EDIT, just watched a later video, the side skirts and front look great! nicely done!
Kevin O'Byrne uuiuuuuuu
Galaxi aerodynamic for what this dude ain’t racing this pos
that shot from behind on the driver side is epic
Damn those turned out much better than I anticipated
Thats how you make tutorials.... Nice job dude
Nice bro, I do this for a living, good to see someone try it out for themselves. Well done.
Nathan can u help me
That's impressive, looks really high quality
Dude that looks fricken awesome... good luck with your build... Rooster
Those fenders look sick ! Great job man keep it up
Cutting the fiberglass mat into strips and running the layers in diff directions leads to a much stronger part than using large squares like you did
It came out great dude! Working with some flares on my Integra (now rear wheel drive) And I love this because I already have some clinched flares. I had some BRZ rocket bunny flares, but the seemed to need a lot more work to really be right. Great job!
You swapped the drivetrain?
Stellar video! I really enjoyed it. What are the plans for the front fascia?
The GT wing you made would look so good with the widebody
Not bad man. I can appreciate things being made by hand. Experience is everything. Now you can learn from it. You should of just layed 3 layers of fiberglass on the back side instead of all the fiberglass bondo. Bondo & fiberglass bondo should be put in thin layers, it can still crack. Prime those fender holes, outside & in. You would be surprised how things rust.
JOEGGGJOE I was going to say the same thing
Yeah, I was wondering why he didn't prime the holes.
Biggest mistake people do. Don't think its a big deal until its all rusted out later.
See what you mean. Even if it was just from the underside with schultz. Atleast he tried to seal it at the top of the trim.
So satisfying! I wish I could’ve liked this video twice! Keep It up!
I've got an EK Civic and no one makes a good looking rear bumper for that car. Your video gave me a good idea of how to make my own
Pretty underrated channel, watched a couple of your old videos now and theyre pretty informative which is nice would love to be able to afford a project car someday but being a student supporting myself with a part time job it doesnt really work out like that lol
Excellent job! Will you cut the fenders?
Great job. You should try and use some windshield washer hose as fender welt. Split it in half and glue it onto the fenders.
Just got to watch a few of the vids and blam...I'm hooked lol
the creativity is crazy man
You can really make a living out of this. You’ve earned a sub! Wish the best for you!
great video. not all that horseshit clickbait vlogging people do. You're really young (or at least look young) and you're killing the game. keep it up. definitely referencing this video when im going wide next winter
Great professional looking job, good exploration of techniques, not the shape I would have gone with but definitely professional craftsmanship.
Black door edge guard works really well for flares. It doesnt do a whole lot for sealing but it doesnt move around like welting does
good job. how much you need money to bilt that bodi kit.
I wish I could make my own widebody for my car, that looks old really good
TBills 3000 Same, but I'd want to make from metal. I guess I could if I only knew how to weld
ThatSubieGuy yeah that would be cool to, I would make mine out of fiber glass.
Dude..that a clean job. Keep it up man!!!!!
Subbed for doing all this by yourself mate, came from the ferrari diffuser video, gonna watch more now.
So fresh I have a 96 Mustang and I would love to do something like this on it
Just came across you channel, love it, like yourself, I'm trying to have a body kit on my MiniCooper S ...
I have to say the little fella in the background made a good job of building a tractor from a stroller
Great channel, great car , great ideas ... love this channel ... all I'd do is paint the bolts black as a personal opinion
Mr2 looks great though!
good job man, true backyard dress up style
Makes me wanna tweak my widebody more now... Keep it up!!!! Great video
Great vid...what size a rims and wheels?
You definitely need more subs bro, you are so creative.. Just subscribed too
You are by far a better video and what you have a hard-working done compared to others on the TH-cam channel that either purchase something and but did not create their own great job only use some of your ideas on my old E46
Awesome job man looks gr8 gave me a lil more comfort for my build going to be making my own body kit for my 1990 celica gts keep up the good work man👍🏻
Your videos make me actually think I may be able to paint my Impreza coupe myself.
Nice video, love seeing diy stuff turn out this good. Keep it up!
You made it look simple enough to follow, looks good man.
Question though, where do you pick up those supplies? (Fiberglass filler, bondo etc)
Where did you get the fiberglass? And what kind did you use?
Your local bodyshop supplies shop is your best bet for quality materials.
Dude so cool! From the thumbnail I thought it was a c4corvette like mine, they look so similar! I’m hoping todo something similar this spring
I thought ot was an nsx lol
subscribed because I respect a hard work !
👌👌🔥🔥
Great work bro.. How did you offset your tires to stand out.. To match the wide body?
Good job .. love those blocks I use them all the time you can make great molds out of them.
Came out great. Good job dude.
I have so much respect for you dude.
Looks beautiful man, two questions though. Noticed you left a link in the description for the wheels, were they just wider wheels? Also, do the axles and subsequently the driveshaft need to be modified, or can a wide body be done without messing with all that jazz?

Nice job, what's the Toyota type ?
nice 1, came out better than I expected
Looks like you built your own brick wall too haha
Cheers
I would recommend using chop strand fiberglass to strengthen the backside even more
So much respect for the hours of work you put in
