I’m crying out of so many mixed emotions. This is my song for my little brother who is eight years younger than me. I’m once again in partial hospitalization therapy for my mental health and we had a serious talk the other week that he may end up having to take care of me when our parents pass. I’m 28 and he’s 20. We have always been close and have never fought a day in our lives.
We were Finn and Marceline 10 years ago for Halloween and this year I was Gary Gumball and Marshal Lee from Fionna and Cake.

My name is Blue. I have autism, and need my headphones so that I can lock out noise, because I do not have the ability to filter out noise. This year, my grandfathers cancer (which we thought had disappeared) reached his brain. While my dad (my grandfather’s son) was driving to the hospital, I was browsing TH-cam and discovered this song. I have slight memory loss due to being young and going through extended trauma, so I often use songs to divide my life up (one song for the new year, another one for when there’s a big thing happening tomorrow, etc) to remember it. This song became the one that I played whenever i was visiting my grandfather.
None of us thought that he was going to die. Not even the doctors thought he would, at first. But I vividly remember my dad bringing us to eat his homemade cookies, us drinking soda, and how I began sobbing when he told me and my sibling that my grandfathers cancer had become fatal.
I listened to this song as I watched my grandfather go from an old man who lived on a house he rebuilt, who played with his German shepherd, and helped my dad replace his tires for the summer/winter, to someone who couldn’t even stand up. I remember his house reeking of cigarettes, because he couldn’t go outside to smoke. Eventually, he died, by his only sons side. He immediately called my mom. That same day, I had a call with a youth healthcare nurse (English isn’t my first language, i don’t know what it’s called in English) and I talked about how my grandfathers cancer was taking a mental toll on me.
When I came home, I ate some food, went into my room, and begun scrolling through social media. It was April 20, 2023, when my mom called me out of my room, my dog greeting me, while she told me that he had died.
This song is what I listened to when I visited his house for the last time. Sitting there, with my dad, looking over the grass field, filled with dog toys meant for the dog we had buried a few months ago. We talked about the house, the shed he had, and about our lives in general. But we also sat in absolute, pleasant, silence. I played this song in my head that entire time, and it only then clicked how much the lyrics fit my situation.

If there was some amazing force of time to take us back to when we were, and hang each moment up like pictures on a wall, so that we could see it all.
Frank, you remind me of him, just an old man who is doing what he loves. Even his house reminds me of yours, now that I think about it.

I listened to time adventure when i had to relocate my dog (i was allergic) and I listened and sang this song to her so many times. I love her so much and she went to live with my sister for a while until she finally came back after immunotherapy started working. Listening to this song took me backkkkkk
