The SPD-S itself doesn't have a stand-alone click track, the click is only accessible in "phrase maker" mode. Roland addressed this on the newer SPD-SX, which does have a stand-alone click track.
Thanks for this demo. I have been going crazy trying to figure this out. You have made it look very simple to do. Thanks again and good luck with your music.
The SPD-S's internal memory only allows about 6 minutes of sampling time in standard grade, and about 3 minutes in fine grade. This expands to 3 hours standard and 90 minutes fine with a 512 MB compact flash card. Memory full means you must delete something, either factory patches or individual waves, or get a card. SPD-S's factory setting is to have "wave protect" enabled. To disable, press "wave" and "setup" while powering the unit ON. Any questions or problems, let me know.
HEY MARK, COOL VIDEO, I ALSO USE THAT SPD-S ALONG WITH AN OCTOPAD AND FULL KIT LIKE YOURS... ALSO A DRUM MACHINE...UGH. ANYWAY, DO YOU SEQUENCE ALL THE "PHRASES" OR DO YOU PLAY THEM AS A WAVE HOPING THAT YOU TRIGGER IT AT THE CORRECT TIME... IVE ALWAYS WONDERED IF YOU COULD DO THAT WITH GOOD RESULTS, AND IF SO... CAN YOU WALK US THROUGH A VIDEO OF HOW THE PARTS ARE CREATED AND HOW YOU END UP ON THE "CORRECT TEMPO" WHEN ITS TIME TO HIT THE PHRASE.... LASTLY, HAVE YOU EVER CREATED A PHRASE ON THE 'FLY" LIVE THAT YOU CAN PLAY ALONG TO?
Are you able to remove the clicking of the metronome, or bypass to an earpiece/headset? I want to add drums to a live guitar set, but don't want the audience to hear the clicking of the metronome, thanks for your video and in depth review!!
To the best of my knowledge, the first SPD-S doesn't have a stand-alone click for performing. If my memory serves me correctly (because I now use the SPD-SX Pro), the click was only accessible in the 'phrase maker' tool for the purpose of putting samples together in time. To do what you're referring to, you would need the SPD-SX unit or the newer SPD- SX Pro. They allow you to perform the samples to a click in your headphones, while sending only the samples to the front-of-house speakers.
hi on the phrase maker is it possible to make without the sound of metronome? i want it to use phrase maker on live to make loop so i need no metronome sound
Is the sound just coming out of the keyboard? I have a pad with one midi out connection, but nothing else and I'm trying to figure out how to use it without a computer. @Mark Bishop
when i am going to save a phrase at spds's memory it sais ''memory full'' though i cannot delete waves because their protected...so how can i save at itnernam memory?than you very mush

great clip. I thought it should have been possible to create loops with a spds like this. Now, I see I was right.

They are still playing out a little bit, however I left the band in February of last year.
