    My rabbits breed the same way in the winter as the do in the summer; actually more willing than in summer.

    It doesn't take a rocket scientist to breed rabbits, they are little horn dogs and go at it at the drop of a hat ! ha ha ha

      You'd be surprised how much trouble people have. Genetics plays a big part in how easy a rabbit will breed. Especially in Northern climates with long winters and short days.

    What kind if wood shavings do you use?
    I used nesting boxes with wire bottoms with lots of hay and fur. Only in the 40s. kits froze to death but there were only 3 kits. Either not enough warmth, or doe's milk didnt come in. It was sad being our first litter.

      What was the rest of the box made out of? 40 is plenty cold to kill kits. Wire bottoms or metal nest boxes do not hold heat. If the nest bx is metal it will pull heat out of the box. I use 4-5 inches of pine shavings (not sawdust). The doe builds the nest on top of that. The shavings allow this kits to burrow down deep and stay warm.

      @@lt2866 It was a small litter so it would be hard for them to stay warm. I definitely recommend using lots of shaving.s

    Have you ever had a doe that won't get pregnant? I have a California doe that I've tried to breed twice already once during the spring and just again about 35 days ago and she hasn't given birth either time. My buck falls off and he gets the other does pregnant. Is there any solutions? I was gonna give her one more chance then cull her.

    I am looking at getting into raising meat rabbits and want to know if it is worth the money to raise them in a climate-controlled barn

      Technically rabbits really do not need any type of climate control. Good ventilation however, is essential. You may find it more comfortable but it is not necessary for the rabbits! With climate control you will get faster growth because they will need less feed in the winter and will eat more in the summer. Also you don't have to deal with freezing waters. On the other hand you will have to remove manure at least once a week to maintain air quality, unlike outside where you can shovel underneath the cages once or twice a year. At the end of the day its really your preference. Just remember if you keep them inside, you should never smell ammonia, if you do you need better ventilation.

    @UCiCoztlq8-YZF1zDATPOxzg Hi, I'm a new subscriber.
    Do you breed your rabbits in the summer? I just had my first trio, they're now almost 4 months. I'm planning to breed them on late April, do you have any tips on that?
    And by the way, maybe it's just me, but it would help a lot if you record the videos with the camera being in one spot (like your video about rabbit food?).
    Anyway, I find your videos are really helpful. Thanks!

      I breed all year round, if the rabbits are taking then I am breeding! it can be a little trickier in the intense summer heat because the bucks go sterile, but just keep trying until you get it. I wouldn't breed rabbits until they are at least 6 months old! Other wise spring is a great time to breed.
      I try to keep the camera as steady as I can but I'm usually working in tight quarters on uneven ground!
      Thanks for subscribing!

    Wouldn't you want to keep them out of the wind? Don't tell me they are out of the wind. They are not. Not even a box to escape into.
