Great insight! A lot to consider that I hadn’t even thought of before. Love the way you propose a bunch of questions to get the gears turning.
Appreciate the support!
I’m in a dilemma about accepting a counter offer or leave. Current job counter offer is 95k-100k a year , promises change to help me which it did past week since I told them about my 2 weeks notice but didn’t offer help before I put in my 2 weeks . New job offer is 85k a year which I was making before . Pros and cons for both
Pros current job
More money
Still the manager
Familiar with surroundings
Cons current job
Understaff and will forever understaff
Management and ownership are cheap only cares about numbers
More hours and more responsibilities since I’m the manager
More stress
Pros about new job offer
New places seem to treat their employees better and felt more genuinely cared for their employees
Not understaff
Less hours
Less responsibilities since I’m not the manager anymore
Better work life balance
Cons about new offer
Demotion from manager to assistant manager
10-15k less a year
My position average 120k-150k a year which 95k-100k is still a low number in my opinion for a manager and skills set
From my experience, when companies or managers make promises to "change" only after you threatened to leave, it's rarely sustained. My suggestion would be to see if the other company would match your counter offer. Or apply to another company that would give you a manager role with more pay and better culture.
