Yep, looking at the inside of that food trailer it is clear that this mobile kitchen is brand new and have never been used. I will not be surprised that the perp who stole the trailer is somehow related to the victim. Personally I would have gathered a few armed friends and then pick up the stolen trailer. Some serious instant justice would have been served on the spot, because if the cops had to be called the perp would have been out on a $100 cash bond. 👍👍

But patrol is not the entire police department. There is an investigative bureau. The information is passed along to investigators. It takes time. Investigators will follow up, develop further information, and build a case. There is a bigger picture here. How many more people are involved? Where are the stolen goods being sold? Whomever is receiving the stolen property; who else is he buying stolen property from? It's not as simple as chasing down a license plate.

Install cameras! I’ve installed cameras on food trucks before. The owners pay for a hotspot monthly so the system has internet and a backup solar battery powering the system. So even if it’s not hooked up, it will send notifications to your phone. Good LOREX cameras is what I recommend. With a monitor and all. It’s a 1000-1500 dollar investment but it’s so worth it!

When you go out and get food from a food truck, ALWAYS look for the permits and health inspection and business license They should all be clearly displayed. Make sure the vehicles have current registration and inspection that matches the vehicle. If you see anything that doesn't look right, call the police. They are very unsanitary and using bad food if they are not legitimate. I have seen this, and I saw it in third world countries. They would take empty bottles out of the trash, refill them and put a drop of super glue on the cap to make you think it was a new bottle. And the food they used, you don't want to know what they were using. I am glad this legitimate owner got h7s truck back and I am glad the tv station helped him. Most likely he never would have had this truck recovered. People wouldn't steal things like this if people were getting caught. I am glad it ended well, but deeply depressed our country is now a third world country. If you don't see them, don't eat from it.
It's not that hard to cut through the locks these days, unfortunately. Use multiple locks and maybe even a boot to slow them down. But, get a GPS tracker for your equipment.
