- Hello everyone! This week I sang Do What You Gotta Do from Descendants with Caleb Hyles!
I have not seen any of these movies but I did accidentally leave this song playing on loop overnight and it was my third most played on my Spotify wrapped. It was very embarrassing but at least this cover came out of it.

This is one of the catchier and more upbeat songs about parental neglect and casual abuse.
That was somewhat dark but yet I totally get it. Relatable.
I mean at least he loves her? And he also accepted that shes good now
You know I actually think he wasn’t wrong to leave her.
His fight with the king would’ve made her life worse than it was. And Mal was definitely the better parent of the two.
It’s a dark song but oddly highly relatable.
Isn't that what the series Mum is based on?
Say what you want about Descendents, but the music is FIRE.

Hades saying “it ain’t easy to neglect” shows (atleast to me) he wanted to be in her life and found it hard to ignore Mal
Okay, I love this cover and the small part in the middle with Mal and Hades talking. It really rings home to that kind of relationship between a parent and a child. That was an actual thing my dad told my mom when she told him that my brother and I wanted a closer relationship with him than just seeing him three times a year.

Yeah. We do. And we're still kids. It is never the child's job to make a relationship with their parent.
My dad is the same way with my younger sis who moved out at 19 after they had an argument.

Except it *is,* because you aren't trying to talk to her. You don't try to talk to any of us even when we're literally in the same house, and then wonder why we have such a close relationship with our mom instead
Parents who make no effort to have contact with their kids don't get to complain when those kids rarely or don't talk to them.

I think the Hercules Disney was absolutely fudged. But Descendants I like quite a bit.
This cover is so much more dynamic and entertaining than the original, and I really like the original.
I love those extra lines of dialogue, they show even more depth to the neglected daughter absent father relationship

I hope the people in charge of making those “Hades is her father” plot are aware that this insinuates that the Gods are real in this universe and that Hades would technically be cheating on Persephone with Maleficent for Mal to exist. And Hades is one of the most loyal of all the gods!!!
Honestly, when I first watched descendants 3, I unironically was so impressed of hades being Mal's father. Not bc of the whole story, but bc imagine having the privilage of being Hades' daughter

Well, that's funny, I was just applying to be an instructor at a theatre camp that just so happens to be doing Descendants. Oh, and if you can, Anna? I highly recommend the Dracula musical by Frank Wildhorn. Sure it's mixed, but it has some great songs.
