i know the feeling when it comes to having a bunch of games and not gotten a chance to play them yet. backlogging is the bane of my gamer existence. So many games and so little time.
The DS is my favorite system and I always enjoy seeing coverage for it. So many classic games, I finally got around to fully completing 999 recently. Only got one of the bad endings when I played it when it first came out. Ghost Trick is one of all time favorites as well. It's unique with fun characters and incredibly enthralling the whole way
I think that Dragon Quest VIII on PS2/3DS is what should be started out with. I think that's when the series started getting more popular in America when it was first released I believe. As for Hotel Dusk, I recall it's played in an interesting manner. I think that one would make for a good video actually.
Funny, Dragon Quest VI is on my list to play this year! I play a DQ game every year and that’s the one I’m going to play! Super Princess Peach nope, but maybe someday!
Loving the haircut... can’t tell if it’s new or I’m just dumb... I am ready for a new video! I need so many more videos from you. My favorite DS game is The World Ends With You. May be my favorite game ever. I didn’t judge that you didn’t play many until I heard that you hadn’t played that. I thought you were cool until now (:
femtrooper of course! You’re crazy if you haven’t played Chrono Trigger. I agree that it’s definitely the best way to play it on the DS. Did you like Chrono Cross? I’m not the biggest fan of it.
I agree that Chrono Trigger on the DS is the best way to play that game. Loved playing it on the go. I think DQ is a niche title. If you don't like 60 plus hour journeys, no shame in giving the series a pass. I enjoyed your video.
DQ V was better than DQ VI in my opinion for the DS. Also, DQIX is a lot of fun and the multiplayer is great. Although the remastered DQ VIII on the 3DS is probably the best game to start out for new beginners in the series. Nice DS Collection!
Out of the Metroid style Castlevanias my favourite is Symphony of the Night and I'd recommend that to anyone. However you can't really go wrong with any of the ones on the DS. Aria of Sorrow on the GBA is really good too. The other two on the GBA are okay but not great.
I also love handheld games! The 3DS is the best! You should (if you haven't already) play The World Ends With You next. The por for the Switch has awful controls, so the DS version might actually be the best out there. I'd buy this game to play it again, BUT, since the game can get kinda hard, I tend to slash through my touchscreen, which in long term, might detonate my DS, so I'll just skip it. That aside, really good game, love the soundtrack, the gameplay, the artwork, the characters and of course the story!
Agreed on Chrono Trigger - DS is the definitive edition. I love the Trauma Center series, you should totally give it another shot. (Things ramp up a lot as you progress through the story).
I didn't play Okami, but enjoyed what I played of Okamiden. The art style is astounding. Side note: I just got a 2ds and those things are GREAT for playing DS games. I'm not real 'tech' but it seems like the graphics are shinier and the gameplay is a bit crisper. Plus the 2ds has a thumbstick where the DS did not.
I never got into dq6 either but really liked 5, I think the way 5 sets up the story gave me motivation to see it through. Also DBZ attack of the sayians starts at around the end of Dragon ball the series before DBZ. (Just in case you haven't looked it up yet, I really enjoyed attack of the sayians, it really deserved a sequel)
Great collection Paige, and as usual the backlog is just.... we gotta accept it and move on lol. We get all excited about all of the games we see, we have the chance to acquire them so we act on it and most of the time we don’t have near the amount of time required to play 1/3 of those games :) at least we have the option right? Again great collection and cool vid!
Nice collection. Children of Mana gets a lot of flak, but I really enjoyed it. As for Dragon Quest VI, I've actually been slogging my way through that game for about a year now. As a big Dragon Quest fan, I have found it a huge disappointment. Very boring and difficult to get through. Which is a disappointment as I started it right after playing Dragon Quest V, which is an absolute masterpiece, and is one of my top 10 favorite games ever. I hope you give some of the other games in the series a chance, and don't judge them all based on VI. If you have the chance, I would highly recommend Dragon Quest V.
I've heard great things about the Castlevania game and I love Castlevania as a series so I would go ahead and play it. I really think you should give Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Darkness another chance. The story is really cool and the games a good challenge and requires some smart moves. It's got plenty to do without being way too long. The end of the main story is really emotional. As a child it made me nearly cry and I was a pretty tough cookie when it comes to games. It's a game I've beaten and I was very pleased I did.
Yeah Radiant Historia was a MASSIVE disappointment. It was just so cliche, like I knew every single twist early on. The gameplay was kind of interesting in concept but not super compelling in execution. TWEWY is definitely one of the top tier DS games but it's a little tricky as to whether you should play it now or wait for the switch remake. I somewhat doubt the Switch is going to work as well as the DS simply because of the proximity of the screens. With the DS you don't need to move your head to switch which screen you're paying attention to but with the Switch you might end up doing a mini headbang. And the added content worries me a bit. They got the world-building so down pat in the original that I think inserting new content that complements it will be extremely challenging, hopefully it stems from content they originally cut.
That's a nice collection! It's a good number of games most of which should be manageable. The DS is a strange system to go back to these days. Half of the games are innovative and spectacular while the others are either "been there, done that" or simply outclassed on the 3DS. Mario and Luigi is just one example of that case and point. Fatal mistake starting with DQ 6 since it's at the end of a trilogy. If you want to get into a classier handheld Dragon Quest, IV has always been my go to. This is just personal preference but I would rather play Mario 64 on the home console than the DS. Okamiden isn't as "epic" as Okami but if you appreciate narrative in a game, 'den offers a fun sub-plot with chibi characters, and not the ugly disformed kind. I'll take your word on 999; I'm starting off with Zero Escape. I'll let you know if that was a mistake or not! Enjoy your games!
+Majora T Zero Escape is the sequel and will reference things from 999! They are supposed to be played in order. It's not the end of the world, but the ending of ZE will make more sense if you play 999 first.

Yes, play Contact. I thoroughly enjoyed it and the story breaks the fourth wall very well, in my experience
I recommend the Castlevania games on DS even though I haven't beaten them all.

RIP DS, sleep sweet prince.
Now in 2024 did you ever go back to Dragon Quest 6 or Super Princess Peach?
Funny, Dragon Quest VI is on my list to play this year! I play a DQ game every year and that’s the one I’m going to play! Super Princess Peach nope, but maybe someday!

T_T oh my gosh trip down memory lane. Made up a great portion of my youth. Absolutely love the DS! Also love the collection video!

YAAAS God, I'm going to enjoy this one so much!
+Samuel.ne Thanks! It's kind of an embarrassing one!
I also love handheld games! The 3DS is the best!

The Layton games are great! Nice to see you, Fem o/!

Love cheeZy. Trauma Center is addicting on the Wii. We'll play the DS version soon. Join me!-)

femtrooper np hope you enjoy those games when you get around to them
