    that transfer from the side walk to the street at 5:06 is exactly one of the reasons people hate these kinds of things. Just cut off that subaru, who should have had no reason to expect someone to zip out in front like that. gonna ride on the road like a car, gotta enter it like one, not like a kid chasing a loose ball

    Electric scooters are fun and everything but once they brake down your screwed. Yah, Z10 and speedway scooters are faster and have more range , but the parts are hard to find and made of cheaper material.
    I’d buy from a reliable company with great costumer service, which is what boosted tends to promote . That’s my opinion.

    • @AlienRides
      @AlienRides  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good points. Durability and maintenance should be key in any scooter decisions or purchase for sure. No doubt Boosted will have the parts and customer service to back their scooters up.

    The build quality seems pretty solid! You mentioned being innovative when it came to braking options, it's kind of funny that an company founded on Esk8 hasn't put much innovation into their electric boards. Top notch video bro, I'd love if you could film me skating one day. These ride along videos are so fun to watch.

    • @AlienRides
      @AlienRides  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry if we did, the hill climb test is most important and I always try to feature that now. Overall the rev climbs hills fairly well with it's dual motor setup though! It just doesn't have the range I desire.

  • @121155377
    @121155377 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    How would you compare the ride quality and acceleration of your Dualtron? Also what dualtron do you have? I'm interested in the Raptor and the Spider but I'm also interested in the Boosted Rev

    • @AlienRides
      @AlienRides  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Russell Jew the boosted rev is a well built machine, but it can’t compare to the power and range of Dualtrons. If you’re looking for a stylish and well-built, but slow scooter, the rev could be for you. If you can afford a Spider though, that’s my recommendation. It’s lightweight and powerful.

    Anybody thinking about getting the speedway 5 better look into it thoroughly. Minimotors USA just released a video on how to replace a controller on it. Why would they do that? Evidently there must be problems with bad controllers on them.

    I know that they are different philosophies but I bought a full on 500cc motorcycle for less than the price of one of these scooters.Its kinds of hard to justify one of these for me as of now. Once they dip to around 800 bucks Im in

    Great footage! A few things I noticed, looked like only rear brakes (might account for all the skidding) I do like the thumb dial accelerator over dualtron's but the platform seems to sit low to the ground prone to scrapes. Def would get the 10x or Speedway 5 over this.

    • @AlienRides
      @AlienRides  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, there was a single lever for the rear brakes, and if you’re aggressive with it, as this rider was, the rear brakes will lock up and skid a bit.

  • @yogadude1234
    @yogadude1234 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Correct me if I am wrong but I thought electric scooters sold in the US had to have a 19mph speed limit? I have seen this comment thrown around but can not really find any specific law. thanks!

    • @AlienRides
      @AlienRides  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      This varies widely from state-to-state actually, and I'm not familiar with the laws of all states yet. In California for example, most scooters are only legally allowed to go 15mph. This law is also like a speed limit though, and we know people never ignore speed limits 😉

  • @RCDevotee
    @RCDevotee 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks for the video! You are one of the few that I completely trust since you know what it is like to ride a hyper scooter and what is available in the market. There are very few that really know the full breadth of what is out there in the e-scooter world. I like the Rev but I still would strongly prefer my Ecoreco L5+ as someone that has to do about 16 miles each day on the scooter and also still wants portability. I can easily store my scooter in front of me on BART and also inside my gym locker which is something you can't do with the Rev because the handlebars don't fold. The lack of suspension will also be a problem over time. The dual suspension setup on the L5+ is very good for terrain I have to handle each day. I can even go off-roading a bit with the L5+ because it has the power and suspension. I also don't like pneumatic tires as I have had to deal with fixing flats on some of my other scooters that I don't ride any longer. For $1600 you are around the price of some hyper scooters which would blow away the Rev in performance. It is a good thing Boosted has joined the market. Hopefully it will bring more people into the PEV world.

    • @AlienRides
      @AlienRides  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Robert Fontanosa you said it perfectly! It is a polished machine and will hopefully get more people involved with electric vehicles. Sounds like you have found the perfect scooter for your use case, folding to get it into a gym locker is awesome!

    • @RCDevotee
      @RCDevotee 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AlienRides It is the perfect mix of power and portability. I still have to carry it several flight of stairs going in and out of the BART stations and getting up and down at work and at the gym. You wouldn't want to be carrying the Rev or any of the hyper scooters in an elevator. The portability, suspension, lack of flats and 25mph sustained with at least 18 miles range at full speed is hard to beat. The Falcon scooters would be worth considering but the pneumatic tires are a deal breaker. You will get a flat if you put the miles on and fixing the flat is a pain to do when you are trying to get to work. The L5+ has been my biggest surprise as I didn't expect to be so good after owning the M3 and M5 Ecoreco scooters. I have almost 1000 miles on it after owning it for a couple months and it has been bulletproof. One of these days I would love to get a hyper scooter just to get that speed rush.

  • @noels8817
    @noels8817 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi nice vid, I seem to be gravitating toward the boosted for 2 reasons
    a) portability- locked mechanosm and footprint when collapsed folded makes it easier to carry for a commuter.
    b) the electric brake, I seem to be enamored by this option, coupled w mechanical discs, wanted to know of this helped gear down the speed going downhill to give a manual "geared down" feel. Let me know if this is true.

    • @AlienRides
      @AlienRides  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, thanks. The electronic brake is good, though pretty much any respectable scooter will offer an electric brake. It sounds like the boosted rev could be a good fit for you if the range and weight are about what you’re looking for. Hope you enjoy it!

    I have the same helmet. TSG Pass. Check out the Uscooters Booster V with the 10.5 AH battery. it's well built and I get about 30 mph going downhill. it will make it up any hill on a full charge. Weighs much much less than this at about 27 pounds. Got it for just under a grand from a domestic distributor. I swapped out the solid rubber rear wheel for an 8" air tube wheel on Amazon and filled it with some Stans No Tubes instead of Slime. Great lightweight scooter.

    Back to the Boosted scooter, I love their long boards, been using one for a little over a year now; even tho I don’t ride much, but I still think the product is premium and the price isn’t the worst compare to some other e-boards out there. However, this particular product will disappoint many boosted fans. Since they are a little late to this market, I am sure most of the people will consider a Zero 10x over this any day. Only for those that really care about customer service, and ease of purchasing boosted products will maybe buy one. Again, with the built quality of other brands improving over the past few years, I really don’t see the reason of buying this one, not to mention that it won’t come out till later this year.

    Great build quality from what i have heard so far but the lack of suspension and range at this price range gets to me. For a simple commuter scooter the xiaomi or gotrax would still get the job done at 1/4 the price. I don't personally understand who this is for exactly since commuter scooter riders normally don't want to spend much while enthusiast would honestly expect more basic features like suspension and a slightly higher deck clearance for the price.

    I'm more interested in seeing dualtron 3s go lower in price. For something smaller or portable, I'd lean towards the speedway mini pro line.

    Your reviews need some work. If you are going to be reviewing products, speak slower so people can understand you. Maybe it's nerves . As far as the review goes, I think you missed the point entirely regarding the market segment Boosted is going after. Granted you are young, and are more concerned about going fast, riding in places you shouldn't like through parks where there are lots of people and dogs around, and cutting off vehicle traffic like you did with the guy in the blue Subaru. People like you are the reason why cities are now regulating the hell these scooters. I feel boosted really did their homework when it came to developing this scooter. It's an excellent alternative means of transportation when ridden responsibly. In fact, I've ordered one myself to get through L.A. traffic. I'm a first responder by profession, and I can't tell you how many accidents I've responded to with involving these scooters, but more often than not, it's the person on the scooter either riding irresponsibly, or the person on the scooter not wearing the proper protective equipment. Look, 24 mph is plenty fast enough to negotiate city streets. Any faster would probably lead to many more accidents because of reaction times and the like.

    Lack of suspension is lack of 'quality '. It has plastic on the underside too. It's certainly not better than the Mercane at 1600 dollars. The Widewheel Mercane has longer range too and 600.00 less makes it the better option. But both have dual motors (optional on Widewheel) that gives the needed torque for hill climbing. The Boosted is light years better than any ride sharing single motor electric scooter though but 1600 is a bit much. Make it 1200.00 and then it would attract a far better market share. Hell, for 1700 I can get the Turbowheel lighting that goes 40mph!

    I like this scooter because it is the luxury model for scooters. The range could be better on it, but they do claim it's weatherproof which is definitely needed if you want a serious commuting device. Unfortunately at the price tag of $1,600 there is just too many better options to go with that don't even cost as much.

An major Australian Boosted dealer come to California to meet with Boosted they refused to sell them parts so Aussie buyers need to ship scooter back to California for repairs. Boosted ONLY CARE about Sales - they have ZERO interest is helping out customers and dealers for after sales service. Bwaaahahaha is this the product of "millennial tech engineering"? It just looks and performs slightly better than Razor scooter from the 90" lol. 2020 and still can't figure out how to design a practical folding handlebar? I mean, it's totally sticking out and on the way when folded, making it look so silly and most importantly impractical to carry or stow in the car. Plus, can't either design suspensions in 2020? Millennial tech engineering at its best, really??? lmfao This is obviously a joke for a 2020 scooter with absolutely zero technology in it. People who are going to buy this obviously know nothing about escooters.

    • @AlienRides
      @AlienRides  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would say that the engineering of the product is actually quite good, but poor business and product decisions led to that product. I agree in that it’s definitely lacking!

    • @jjtaylor7505
      @jjtaylor7505 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Engineering is "quite good"? Hum,,,wait what? Where? Define engineering! The frame is tubular and had been used to build bike frames and scooters forever, so nothing new! The motor is just an average standard same motor is used on all electric ebikes and scooters. The battery is below average quality. The design is so basic that it misses the handlebar up/down adjustment which is terrible because people have different heights eg. how can be ok for a 4 foot tall and a 6 foot tall??? The bar sticks out when folded. No shock??? and on and on and on. So, where the heck do you see the engineering/technology????? Oh, and it's heavy like a tank without any suspension! This is not going to be a success. They need to completely re-design it to be a winner in this now very competitive market. They think they can gouge $1600 for this just because they built their brand. Wrong!!! Not going to happen.

    • @AlienRides
      @AlienRides  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      JJ Taylor engineering is more about fancy features though, tolerances and build quality for example. I would love for my Dualtron handlebar to be as stiff as the boosted. I would probably never ride a boosted rev though, for all the reasons you elaborate 😅
