100%! It’s all about torque with these diesels. Also, bhp is pretty much just the equation Torque x RPM / 5,252. (To get a rough figure). Props to DSD. Great content, and the video’s have an awesome vibe to them. Wish i would be situated closer to them…
Wouldn't say 130bhp and 200 ft/lb increase is in any way a 'small gain'. The upgrades have a lot do with reliability as well as producing bigger numbers.
Really needs the head porting to get any more out of them tbh, if you can get 400bhp out of a 1.9 tdi pd you should be able to get 500bhp easy enough out off them motors if the turbos is big enough.
makes me wonder how much power can be achived from the 2.0 version of this engine the 6 cylinder is basically just the 4 cylinder with 2 extra cylinders

seems i'm pretty happy with my A6 BiTdi (CVUA) with my 420hp and 870Nm with only a Stage2+ tune on it 😅 still running EGTs with Darkside parts installed 👌🏼
@@Spannerface Engine itself is Stock 😉 thats why it's called a Stage2+ and not Stage1 mapping only... on stage1 you get probably around 380Hp without having DPF related Problems... just for a example on Stage3 (like in this video) there are possible figures around of like 550hp and 1080Nm 😉 but then you'll also need a 90mm Dp because the Darkside one simply is to small for that... even on my tune i get a little bit of Boostcreep because of the flansh/pipe design from darkside 😅 so i'll exchange mine for a "better" one from polska
Torque graph looks very nice! Question tho, what is the backpressure at higher RPM?Also, it seems to fall off at the top end quite rapidly. Should have plenty fuel with; pump/injectors/cams. So i'm guessing the big hybrid turbo is the limiting factor at high RPM?

We often see 10-20hp increase with cams, oem cams can handle it though. Depends what you're wanting out of a car really. Both can get big power numbers, but it's easier to do in a 30d/35d. 3.0 tdi is a mega platform though and sound better ;)
Darkside im in the market for a 435d xdrive but until i saw your 430d xdrive making even more power will i be saving more money getting a 430d to achieve your kind of power or should i just go with the 435d xdrive roughly what is the cost to get the 430d to this kind of power mate as i dont own one of these yet but need a pointer because i do want to get one and map it

@OfficialYeat I think a Stage 1 remap and maybe an upgraded intercooler to keep the temps a bit lower is the best value £ per hp. If you need more than that, an alternative platform is probably better value.
Tune the gearbox on the bench, I do it all the time with my flex tool on jaguars , land rovers and other manufacturers that aren't bmw for xhp. Just remove the electrical plug and pin it, only 5 wires

Would of expected more with it having fueling upgrades and other mods, theres 330d's in the high 400's and similar torque that are 10+ years older technology wise. Still wouldnt say no though, would be an amazing upgrade from my 320cd.
@@ryanp6138 Don't call us donkeys just because its your first time tuning a 35d to this level, many 35ds with over 500bhp with the same mods just different hybrids. Dragy proven as I know you could rig the dyno to make it pull over 500bhp.
@@ryanp6138 get some dragy numbers as we both know dyno figures really mean nothing when comparing cars. That car ran these numbers at the same mods but dynoed 553bhp in 335d x drive. 0-100 kmh 3.02s 100-200 km/h 6.9s 1/4 mile 10.68s@206.7km/h
With all due respect, thats put me off hybrid upgrade to be honest. I was under the impression that 500bhp was acheivable with hybrids, intercooler and the deletes. Mine runs 385 with just the stage 1.

@@piovo1 Thats oviously a possibility, it would be interesting to put it on another dyno, although dynos should be calibrated. The map I had was from Celtic tuning and they actually claim 400hp from stage 1. They said mine didn't acheive 400 as boost was 0.2 bar down.

water meth is a waste imo its ok if you do 1/4 mile now and again or just a bhp booster on a dyno day other than that its really not worth it minimal power and you have to maintain it once had a check valve fail on mine due to corosion and it flooded the engine and another time an earth wire rubbed onto the chassis causing the pump to start working this was a devils own kit tho and i did email teh company about the major flaw that all it needed was an earth and the pump would start that emptied a full 5l into the boost pipe and again when i started the car instant hydro lock its really not somthing i would ever put on a car again
Torque converter? Is the a G series then? I get confused with the non M3/4 models not having the horrific new grilles... As the E/F had 8 speed dct zf didn't they... So annoying the chinese moaned about 'violent' fast shifts of a dual clutch and now they have laggy torque converters... This'd be so much faster with a dct sigh.

@@otacon4065ZF 8 torque converter is superior to the DCT in a diesel, much more cheaper to buy, more reliable and they hold more power stock. Few other things also.
Dodgy dyno numbers, if they've been on the dyno at all, especially in the BMW world. We'll happily put a "500+hp" BMW on our dyno to see if it really does those figures
We too were hoping for more, but this is development. You cannot know the limitations until you try to surpass them. The customer was happy to trial these parts and in the end was ultimately happy with the performance of the car.
1000nm of talk though that is still a very good increase from 750ish with stage one even though the horse power didn't go up from 370bhp ish with stage 1 . Still a decent improvement and I bet you can rely feel the shove from that now . Omg 1000nm would love to test drive that .
Is it really worth stressing these N57 engines?. I see M57 cars holding their money for what they are, E6x, E9x 535d, 635d and 535d all fetch a pretty penny due to the reputation the M57 has for durability once you take the swirl flaps out of the equation. However I hear the bottom end is a bit weak on the N57 engines, coupled with the timing chain failures, hence the reason fancy 6 series 640d's are selling for stupidly cheap money vs their E63 635d counterparts. If I had one of these N57 jobbies I would be leaving it standard and dropping the oil every 6k miles to try and prevent the disaster of spun main bearings and chain failures.
We've done a few high powered N57's now and not really had any issues with them. A couple of them have been driven for a good few years with over 1000Nm torque and are still holding strong so

@@kilner79 you can get 300bhp reliably out of the N47, you can do a bit more but tbh your gonna be sinking in to much money at that point.
If you are interested, Austrian tuner DiTuPa runs and German tuner As performance are the gods of n57 and run far over 600hp in these engines

Mainly boost, if adding more fuel it would then get hot.

I think a 35d 313PS only needs a bigger intercooler and ECU/TCU tune, if you wanna do all this then get a 30d and do it.

It falls off rapidly because we're controlling exhaust heat, the backpressure at the exhaust manifold is 1.5 times higher than boost

When doing valve springs is it possible for the valve to fall into the cylinder?
Theoretically yes
Mine was stage 1 tuned to 425hp 800nm, don't ask me how but they did it and I've been driving around with those figures for over a year now, +-50k km

We are looking at a larger downpipe, bigger intake and possibly a bigger FMIC next. After that we might need to look at a larger turbo.

My f10 535d got 410hp with turbosystems stage 1 turbos and 3 bar of boost and car already smokes a bit so what are you talking about😅

It's an F series with a zf8 and torque converter. Gearbox tune helps with the shifting making it quick and smooth
