Thanks for the etymology ! But now I realize nobody uses the word anymore. Nor can you use "rappin'", since that morphed. Now people sit around and look at their phones, I guess.
For people of my generation, bands like America formed the soundtrack of our lives at a time when radio and vinyl were the only options (maybe 8 track for some). It was beautiful, and seeing you appreciate it takes me right back to those days when music was everything.

My brothers and I would sing and play this (the middle brother played the acoustic guitar) at nearly every party, cookout, extended family gatherings and holidays. I have a video of us singing it from Christmas Eve, 1988. This song and ELO's "Telephone Line." Thank you for your gift of fresh ears -- even on songs as deeply engraved in my soul as Tin Man, you always teach me something new. BTW: George Martin, the Beatles' producer, produced this album.
Summer Breeze. Used to listen to that with my fiance and future wife at a place we rented in San Diego where we were stationed. And we usually had a summer breeze coming thru. Great times back then and great memories now.

It is, another great America song. Such musicianship these guys were amazing. I was in my teens, this was what I grew up with. I realize it now as I go back and listen to these songs. I had troubles in my marriage and this music kept me sane.

A happy beautiful sunlit song that can turn me into a sobbing mess lol. I wasn't around in '74 but it's close enough to the feel of my early-'80s childhood that it makes me sad that that whole world is gone. I appreciate you, Jamal!
"If this is about the tin man in the Wizard of Oz I'm gonna lose my mind". When you said that, I just sat back, smiled, and waited to see it. Now, if you DO want something intentionally like Oz, react to the collaboration between Todrick Hall and Pentatonix called "The Wizard of Ahhs". It's a creative retelling of the story in newer music
I think I was about 10 years old when this song came out. My brother bought the album in Germany where he was stationed in Frankfurt and brought it home when he was discharged. I think it was one of the first albums he played and I was blown away by it. It always reminds me of that time period. Great song, great memory!
Jamal, I was born in 1954 and I grew up during the best time for music, from 1963 through 1973. Back then, music was MUSIC. It's really a kick to watch youngsters like yourself discover the bands and music from the greatest music era ever! Enjoy!

Gift of the gab good talker gab is Irish word .By the way just like you LOL
You called it. About the tin man. lol
Gab, back then it was "let's rap" as in talk, communicate, not the music style
We have the gift of the gab here in Cork, Ireland naturally. If anyone else wants it they must kiss the Blarney Stone! 😁😁😁
Thanks for the etymology ! But now I realize nobody uses the word anymore. Nor can you use "rappin'", since that morphed. Now people sit around and look at their phones, I guess.
@@ainehennessy7071 We visited Blarney in 75 what a jewel! The Druids Keep was unique! God bless
For people of my generation, bands like America formed the soundtrack of our lives at a time when radio and vinyl were the only options (maybe 8 track for some). It was beautiful, and seeing you appreciate it takes me right back to those days when music was everything.
FYI: The gift of gab is a way of referring to a smooth talker.
Gift of gab-smooth, easy, comfortable conversation
@@laurafoose1538 And just the ability to make conversation ... usually "small talk"
@@laurafoose1538 Laura - I did not mean to react to you directly - I did it wrong! Sorry
@@redpammy nothing to be sorry about.💕I was hopefully trying to clarify what I posted. And thank you for posting your opinion. See, this is the trouble with messaging. And I should have put a heart or smiley face so you new I was not being rude to you. 🌻🌺

Hi Jamal..I'm so glad ur doing an America song! I saw them in concert in the early 90's & it was such a small venue..I met them after the show 2 get autographs..& got a hug from Dewey Bunnell..who wrote most of their songs & sang lead on this one. He's the sweetest guy. Thx 4 this one! Hugs 😊😊💗💗
Always loved this song. It was on the radio all the time in the early to mid 70s. Good time listening to my transistor radio in bed before going to sleep when I was in grade school..
Love America what a great band ❤️ They were so good and harmonize so great together. Thanks walking me through my teenage time. We had the greatest tracks 70's . Thanks Jamel you are so good I 💕 all your reaction videos. You make my day how you love the music and how you always show much love for your life!! Lucky women!!
I was in high school, loved this band. Cried many a tear listening to I Need You, Horse With No Name was the first song I ever heard by America
Gift of Gab: the ability to speak with eloquence and fluency is my favorite definition.
That look he gives the Cam whenever it kicks in that he knows the song is always priceless. Those Billions of Mini Computer Cells we all have way back in the Brain are instantly activated and in an Instant and it makes for the perfect reactions....
I was just hanging out at home and enjoying the music....very cha-cha!!! Peace out!!!
I lost my mind!!!! Hahahahaha!!!!!!!!!
My favorite song by them! along with "you can do magic"...
America is guitars, harmonies, and hit songs. I'll suggest Lonely People and Daisy Jane as the next tunes to check out. Enjoying your reactions as always!
Love "Daisy Jane"!!!....the greatest hits album is iconic!
The 70s, what an awsome time to grow up. Really good time to grow up. A simpler way of life. Not as chaotic as today.
Lonely People by America Next... The words on that one will just tear jerk you 🎹🎹🌈
One of the best bands..best songs ever written! I love America!!!! ❤️🙂
I was young and these were the best of times and the best music
My brothers and I would sing and play this (the middle brother played the acoustic guitar) at nearly every party, cookout, extended family gatherings and holidays. I have a video of us singing it from Christmas Eve, 1988. This song and ELO's "Telephone Line." Thank you for your gift of fresh ears -- even on songs as deeply engraved in my soul as Tin Man, you always teach me something new. BTW: George Martin, the Beatles' producer, produced this album.
Jamel it might be time to enter the world of the moody blues! Giant catalog of tunes to choose from!
When this song came out in '74, I was 13, and my neighbor girl would be playing this 45 on repeat every time I walked by.
I still play this on repeat!!!
The intertwining vocals on this song have always blown my mind...
I love this band. They put out some beautiful music.
If you like America you should check out Seals & Crofts.
I know!
Hell, yeah!
Yeah Diamond Girl and Hummingbird 😊🤘🏽
Summer Breeze. Used to listen to that with my fiance and future wife at a place we rented in San Diego where we were stationed. And we usually had a summer breeze coming thru. Great times back then and great memories now.
I love how absolutely joyful you are listening to these songs. ❤️
Yay!! I'm so excited that you're reacting to this song!
...
I ssoooo appreciate you!! Your openness and willing to learn all genres and eras of music is very telling of who you are as a human!!! Says a lot about your family!!! God Bless you all!!!! Thank you!!!!! Giddeeup!!!
Since you enjoyed this so much you should check out Seals & Croft.
"Summer Breeze" & "Diamond Girl" are classics!
Ramon alfaro definetly! Love Seals and Croft.
Good choices.
We May Never Pass This Way Again
Yes, please!!!
...or the one Busta Rhymes' Put Your Hands where Your Mind Could See' sampled..
❤❤❤❤ They just have a ton of great songs....AMERICA IS TIMELESS...
I knew that line"Oz never gave anything to the tin man that he didn't already have" classic. The gift of gab is referring to the gift of verbal communication ☮️
It is, another great America song. Such musicianship these guys were amazing. I was in my teens, this was what I grew up with. I realize it now as I go back and listen to these songs. I had troubles in my marriage and this music kept me sane.
"Soft Rock" before it was a category. Oh my... I can't tell you, what was going on.... I don't recall everything 😎
Jamel, you are definitely one of a kind!! I so enjoy your reaction to ALL MUSIC!! I do love AMERICA, When they harmonize, IT'S REMARKABLE!! Few have accomplished what they did ,in my HUMBLE opinion!😎
Jamel’s reactions are like lays - can’t just have one,
you gotta binge a little with this man.
I love America. Thier music lifts my Spirit every time. Take us all back on a time capsule
Cruising music! You would love “ Green Eyed Lady” by Sugarloaf. Funkiest intro , classic!
The long version, of course.
Also Dont call us, well call you. Great tune too by sugarloaf.
Or "Existential Blues" by Tom T-Bone Stankus (gotta love Dr Demento).

"the gift of gab"..., the ability to speak to generally anyone, about anything...
just talking
If you like the harmonies try some Crosby, Stills Nash & Young...
always thought they sounded the same, i hear stills lol
He has done.
Southern Cross!
I think I was about 10 years old when this song came out. My brother bought the album in Germany where he was stationed in Frankfurt and brought it home when he was discharged. I think it was one of the first albums he played and I was blown away by it. It always reminds me of that time period. Great song, great memory!
I was a preteen playing outside having a crush on the prettiest girl in the neighborhood. Growing up in 70's. was the best!
Jamal, I was born in 1954 and I grew up during the best time for music, from 1963 through 1973. Back then, music was MUSIC. It's really a kick to watch youngsters like yourself discover the bands and music from the greatest music era ever! Enjoy!
You are the Man!
Always coming through.
😊✌
