Yes. Pauses between points, are quite effective. It gives time for the audience to digest the point said by the speaker, while the speaker gains time to think about the next point. The speaker can also avoid filler sounds like AH, UM, ER

The Pause is a great way to allow the audience to digest an important point you have just delivered.

I never thought about the Pause before the opening. Searched for this because I want to teach the pause lesson to my 15 year old kid who needs to learn to speak.
I’m a dad, so *my* advice is never listened to.
    Stay awesome.

Thank you very much, I am actually someone who doesn't use english as my first language and tend to pause in every syllable which ruins my interview performance. By pausing, I have much more time to structure what I have to say before I say it. :) post more

Great video Jeremy! So powerful (pausing) yet difficult to do. I have a resolve to work on it.

I love Alan Watts' use of the pause but also the cadence of his speech.

This is not for college and classrooms where time is very limited for students. This is for actual public speeches where there is an actual audience waiting to hear something from you.

have any tips for presenting in front of two classes in an auditorium? I'm a bit nervous about doing it, because I usually only present in front of my class mates.

They're the words 'uh' and 'um' that one tends to utter when feeling nervous and mainly distracted as a result.

The audience thinks, I don't know anything and through their thoughts immediately. I thought the problem was in me that I pause

How we can practice pauses in our speech?

At open, after questions and after a point.
      For 2-3 seconds.

I’ve never been so mildly uncomfortable watching a video…Iike the fact that he looks like a serial child predator makes it worse and the random pauses make it even creepier than any horror movie

    Zero advice "how".
Recommended changing the title to "why".
