Came here for Terry Brooks but just subscribed to the interviewer's channel. He did such a good job here, it caught my attention. It's noticeable how Terry Brooks got energized by the conversation.
@@GlaurungTheGreat Unless you've listened to the audio books. He has also pronounced it both ways in various interviews. Someone argued with me about it and said "You're pronouncing it wrong!" Turns out there is no "right" way. In another interview he stated that early on in his writing career he purposely did not enforce any pronunciation because he felt that it would make it more personal to the reader for them to read it in their own voice, and use whatever pronunciations felt right to them.
The thing I liked about the Shannara books, is the way Terry would cut between different sub plots and then sometimes toward the end, they intertwined. I thought it kept things interesting.
I always find myself a bitter better off each and every time I get the honor to hear this man speak. I am so glad I picked up a paperback copy of Scions of Shannara back in the late 90's. I found myself enraptured. I couldn't put it down.
I'm 43, been reading his work since I was 13. I fell off the wagon when he sold out the movie rights to MTV where they out-right butchered the Shannara legacy. Such a shame. His legacy deserved better.
Hello Bill, just now im into elves stuff, but i was borne with pointy ears. Not just that, i actually have the golden ratio in my face, i mean, im a image of a elf. Said that, i would realy like to meet Terry Brooks, and i guess he would be really pleased to know me as well… Would you contact him, and let him know of my existence? Thanks

Thanks. Hope you enjoy the other interviews!
After being a fan of Terry Brookes since the early 80's I have just discovered that it's not "Shanaara" but "Shannera".
It's funny, he's absolutely the _only_ one to pronounce it that way. Everyone's always surprised the first time they hear him say it.

Glad you liked it! He’s a great guy.
Favorite author. first read the sword of shannara in 9th grade, now i'm 33 and it's still my favorite series of all time.

I enjoyed this before it was done and I have had a great journey in life reading the works of Terry. I have the Wishsong in Me.
One of my favorite authors
I absolutely love Terry, his books shaped me in some ways into who I am, his books mean so much to me.

That was a TRAVESTY!!!
Thank you, Bill, for ALL the great interviews you've posted over the years! Keep 'em comin'!
Will do!
Great interview! Thanks for posting
Thanks!
Brilliant author but for some reason a lot of you tube so called experts on Fantasy don’t think so🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️.In my opinion he is the best 👍👍
Really interesting. Over 50 million books sold and not even 3000 views!
😍😍😍
How do you pronounce "Shannara"? The way the author does!! (SHA-na-ra)
I've been saying "Sha-NAR-a". I'm not sure I can transition to "SHA-na-ra". How do you pronounce it?
Am I the only one who bought The Sword of Shannara when it first came out?

Is a shame that a terrific story like this has one of the worst tv shows ever
I agree the show was terrible 😡😡😢
I thought it was pretty cool when I saw it in my late teens.
But now that I'm actually reading Shannara I feel badly, badly burned!
It was horrendous!
It could have been worse. They could have had Divergent's director.
Luckily the MTV series only ruined Elfstones which is a small part compared to the overall Shannara series
Its a shame the TV series is so horrible and nothing like Shannara at all.
