      He had them the minute they walked in the door. They were acting like the shadiest idiots on Earth. If you notice he doesn't take his eyes off of them when he hands back the stuff. He knew they weRe going to pull something.
      Also I guess when you handle something every day you get to know the feel of it, like generally people who handle cash every day can feel even the best fake note straight away.

    • @jeffw1267

      +Sheri Owens All these shops should have a rule that every time an item is touched by the seller after being tested, then the buyer has to go through ALL the tests again. Post this policy right on the front window. Then the buyer wouldn't have to deal with most of these clowns in the first place.

      People who handle cash every day can feel even the best fake note? Not true at all. In fact, it's the ones who handle cash all day that you want to scam with counterfeit $$$. They hardly pay any attention to the money, other than counting it. I was a bartender for 10 years, I know this.

      I feel like it's a bit of both crossing thier fingers that somehow hopefully the fake stuff would pass givin the pad/stone he's using just had real gold on it a.k.a., hoping for a f*cking miracle but also they're both trying to watch the test carefully in order to come up with a way to get the fake chains to pass each test at the next pawn shop.The hard part is, it's a surface strength/scuff test followed by a chemical agent being applied. You'd have to be one hell of a scammer to foolproof that sh*t.

    • @Kitumi578
      @Kitumi578 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      The chances of either of those things happening are very slim. The sellers have the advantage when switching because they have the jewellery and can get a fake replica. The buyer needs to be very lucky to have something looking identical at hand. As for the cutting a couple of links, as long as they leave it on the counter that he's working on like this one did then there is literally no chance of pulling that off unless the seller was paying 0% attention, no slight of hand would be able to pull that off unless they took it out of sight.

    Not all pawn brokers are on the up and up. I recognized the area of Chicago referenced. South side. This may even be the same shop that tried to rip me off.
    I brought in a 1 pound ingot of .999 silver. The clerk guy took it and inspected it. He asked me if I had the original receipt. I said, no. He then immediately picked up the phone, dialed operator, and asked to be connected to the police. He expected me to run out the door, leaving the silver behind. So, after about 1 minute, he saw that I was not running away, and he paid me. He is just as much a thief as the shitbags just featured in this video.

      I have to agree with the other guy, I think you were just being tested. Most of the time, the way to out a person doing something suspicious is to have them think they've been caught. The logic is that a person with no guilt won't be worried. Of course, it doesn't always work like that. Sometimes, a person with nothing to hide just doesn't trust that others will recognize their innocence, especially if they've been falsely accused before.

    I've been buying precious metals and gem stones for years out of my three antiques shops, flea markets and shows. Honest people have no problem having tests done on their items. I'm in my 70s now and retired and can proudly say I've never had a dissatisfied customer in all my years of buying. This man did everything the right way and hopefully turned these crooks into the police. Sadly I can say I've had my share of scammers and dare say, crooked greedy antique dealers to deal with. Gladly I can say I have never gotten stung by any of them.

    Notice he hands him with the opposite hand. And the guy in the backward baseball cap did not give the guy his identification card he used his so-called friends. When the cops show up they will be after his so-called friend instead of him due to his address and identification. One of the reasons you should never give your drivers license or do anything for anyone.

    Tom Pinion...Yeah but who's to know if he has a fake tester. I just think the buyer's the con-artist here and a rude one at that. If the buyer would con the customer, the customer would have to deal with it because it's his business he's running. Believe it or not these owners of Pawn Shops are not always honest with people, it's all about money. He's just as criminal or even more so than these customer's. Point made!

    • @fjccommish

      He rubs off a tiny bit of it onto a touch stone then applies a testing solution to it. If it is fake or of a lower Karat then the solution will dissolve it. Gold plate will also be obvious since it will only transfer a tiny bit then expose the metal underneath.

    I don't condone what these crooks did but if think about It. I wonder how many pawnshops and gold buyers prey on low income people that need fast money to put food on the table cause of a situation and these places low ball them cause they know their weak. I'm just saying it's ok for them to prey on weak people but not weak people to prey on them. double standard in a way but I guess that's how they make their money and it's up to the weak not to go to these places and do business with people that genuinely screw them in a way to make their money.

    • @fjccommish
      @fjccommish 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Your take on video proof of someone trying to screw a gold buyer is that gold shops and pawn shops screw customers.

    • @Abodd93

      It's a free market, getting screwed owner does not exist in a free market where you know how much you get for your property. It's a choice you make, obviously these people need to earn money if they are to offer you the service of turning goods into money in seconds.

      Casinos, lotteries, churches, and liquor stores are vices of the poor too. They all take from people who could use it better elsewhere. How do you feel about them? Maybe education in finance would help those people more. Or just more education in general. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink.

      MrSimondee1 he's completely full of shit. First of all they just happened to have 20 grand in cash sitting on the back seat for him to grab? Lol. Not to mention that he said they just drove off after he grabbed the money and the rings, like they were just so afraid of him that they let him get away without even trying to do anything? Ppl who scam for just $20 dollars a pop aren't gonna have $20,000 in cash on them and certainly not just sitting in the backseat of the car. Except for maybe him getting scammed for the $20 nothing about the story is believable. He's probably a kid who's not even married but who knows? I could be wrong lol

    Family owned pawnshop for 30 years you can tell just by looking at it if it's plated or solid gold the texture, and color looks different he spotted it wasn't real the 2nd time but the acid test was just to confirm he knew. You test gold all day long get to know what your doing those guys hope to find a new employee who isn't monitored when we had a new employee he wasn't allowed to buy any gold worth more the $20 without one of us checking it over. Several pawn shops got scammed by fake gold coins inside plastic cases we always told anyone have to remove the coin and acid test if they refused just pass on pawning or buying it. You can't keep their stuff or ID it's not against the law to try and sell someone fake gold doesn't matter that he swapped it out he didn't tell the guy it was the same that's just the game can't get butt hurt over it.

    My mother pawned her ring that she had appraised as a 1920s 1.2 karat diamond because she needed grocery money. When we came to get it 6 months later (she got an extension) it was a different ring that looked alike. She had the ring since she was 18 and it has been in the family since the 50's. She told them it wasnt her ring and they said it is because its still in the envelope they had put it in when she pawned it, she didn't believe them at all but they kept denying and she isn't a jewelry expert. She never felt the same about the ring again so when I needed a car repair we took it to a jeweler and they said that it was a 1 karat diamond from the 1960s. Im so pissed this day but its been 2 years since sold and 4 since it was pawned so I just feel like is they can do that to my mother who knew the people who worked there for 28 years and my grandmother has known them since the 80s. My family has sold them ww2 era m1's and a 1911 we got when my grandfather died and made them alot of money its so scandalous. San Diego
