Hey Dan i work with a lot of sands and aggregates, just be mindful when working /using dry sand of silicosis. Not saying you should do this and that like an health and safety advisor. just be aware of the silica content. I love watching your videos and would never forgive myself if you came on one day and said you cannot do them anymore due to breathing problems. I like! What fabric is the sheet cover please? I want to use this method here in Johannesburg South Africa because it gets very hot here and the rain can be quite heavy at times. Thanks for you advice.
It's not a tree it's a Sycamore, the worlds biggest weed. Even with a TPO he should be able to prune it. They are a nightmare with pollen and sap in the spring and leaves/seeds in the Autum/Winter.
You could have reseeded and covered with a mesh net of about 30-40%, which would have kept the birds off and let sun/rain through yet provide some stability against water falling on certain areas. Mesh is available in green too.

Hi Dan, I am planning to use mm50 mixed with johnsons premier pitch grass seed 50/50 for my project. Would you recommend to just use one over both? Thank you for your time👍
