- Garen and Ellie find some pallet boards to use in their van conversion project. Shae finishes the modifications to Ellie’s wedding dress to make it into a wonderful blue/green summer dress. We make use of a jacuzzi tub donated to us and begin plans for the bathtub to be placed next to the outdoor shower. Stay tuned for all the adventures. If you are a dad, Happy Fathers Day. Ellie's dress turned out awesome. The dye turned out spectacular. I was thinking that the leftover lace could be made into a little jacket.

I totally agree. You should make a dress for Azelia. I use fabric from donated wedding dresses to make dresses for Angel Babies, which are donated to hospitals and given to parents who have lost a child due to miscarriage or a baby who is stillborn or who have passed prematurely. The parents have something to dress their little Angel to help them say goodbye.

as a plumber and have installed them many times i would leave enough space to get the moter out for when it goes bad and for being able to get all the water out for winter so it does not freeze. and if you do not keep the sunlight off of it, it will break down soon. p.s. i love when grandma is in the videos.

How about doing a bottle wall around the tub, like start with earth bag at the bottom then start adding some darker bottles and use clearer and clearer bottles as you go up so you still get lots of the lovely sunlight while in the bath!
Tub 'under' tree? What could possibly go wrong? Leaves... Lots and lots of leaves. Perhaps a canopy.

Especially since it's a jacuzzi tub. The pipes and pump are gonna get badly clogged without a really wide canopy - and stinky too.
A cover when not in use and tiki torches for evening baths! Very relaxing!

For future reference, when you want that trim wood to bend but not break, soak the wood in water for a while prior to mounting it. The moisture will allow the wood to bend easily without the hint of breaking.
and or score the back side so it flexes
And or Steam it I built a steamer for 20' ship frames in about an hour.
I still love everything this family does, wow love the melting of that bottle, creativity is a lot of work, love the end result of the dress.

The dress turned out beautiful. I love the dye job done on it. It made the design of the tulle really pop, it just sucks that you have to go around w/green hands until it wears off. Happy Father's Day Garren.
Use some bottles as windows in the outdoor tub room.
It would be interesting to use a tile saw and cut the bottles in two lengthwise. You could invert some to create an Escher pattern. Maybe copper foil the edges, and then lead solder them together.

An important consideration for the jacuzzi tube is rodents. They WILL destroy all the soft tubes in search of water! Another consideration is the ability to CLEAN those tubes. And you'll want to make sure you have good access to the motor for maintenance and repairs.

Wooooah, grandma's a mad crafter too! And the wedding dress! IT CAME OUT AMAAAAAZING!!! It's so soft and flouncy, and the ribbon is a perfect contrast, and the dark lace pops. It makes you look like aromantic heroine, Ellie!! (is that the spelling for heroine? Idk, this is my second language)

My idea for your tub; Instead of doing a earth bag base. Do your bottle wall around the base of the tub. And to be more extravagant put LED lights around the tub. So the lights will shine through the bottles. You can set mood lights while taking your bath.
I suggest a wind sail to make sure nothing gross gets into the tub and you can keep that real natural look

I really like the way the die adhered to the different fabrics of the dress. Light on the main dress and dark on the lace.
my mom is a ceramicist, seeing grandma’s little kiln reminded of my moms. that was an electric one, the bulbs on my moms are for different reasons. she has 3 electric kilns, one huge gas one i can stand in. the plugs are used to vent some heat off for the ceramics. grandma’s bottle was awesome! i love buildout of the van. shae’s glasses, i am in love with. i’d love to know where she got them.

The dress turned out such amazing shades of colour.
The pallet lining is so warm and homely, I love working with pallets, their so versatile.
Fair warning Garen and Ellie. As soon as that little one can crawl she is doing to be bored and unhappy in her little Pack and Play. Ours just turned one and I still remember that time when he was this age and my wife and I could be still be productive on a project together.
That said it’s totally worth and it and we love it!

Shay you should make the baby a little dress out of what you cut off of Ellie's dress. So they can each have a cute dress from the wedding gown.
About twenty years ago I spilled dark blue ink on a new(ish) beige summer jacket which I used to wear all the time, so I decided to dye it. Because the ink was pretty dark, I went with black dye to make sure it wasn't visible, but that's sooo not the colours it came out as. The final product was mostly this really nice dark slate blue, but the thread - which must have been something like nylon - turned an orange umber, and looked kinda vivid against the dark blue-grey because it was so much lighter. The combination worked far better than I'd've imagined, probably because the two colours are directly opposite on the colour wheel.

I sometimes forget how much practice you've had with tools, as my stomach jumps into my heart each time I watch Garren and Ellie,with those saws, they make a great couple working in perfect harmony, its great to see.
Where your putting the hot tub, will the tree drop its leaves/ needles into the tub, just this king about blocking the holes and also as I'm in England I'm not sure what sort of tree it is. Perhaps you could put up a sail sheet to prevent bits dropping g into the tub or a roof that stays up yr round, there are lots of ideas on Pinterest. Being a seamstress, I marvel at how Shae plays with fabric and her natural ability blows me away... Azalea really does need a Summer dress out of the left over fabric. A hot tub would be so luxurious and a sunken tub would be awesome, mayhap not so practical out in the open... The van build is coming along nicely, am wondering about the weight of the pallet board though... I love your video's, they are the highlight of my hum drum existence, please keep doing them and the Wednesday show and Pod Cast, I never miss a thing... Happy Fathers Day to both Gary and Garen... Hmm that van project would be a good project to use steam bent wood. Although I'm not sure if pallet wood will steam bend. You could get some really cool curves.
Garen is also using 2x4's ripped down and those will soak nicely, I have never steamed wood but that would work as well as soaking them.
Got some info to share. Engels coach shop on Utube says softwood cannot be steam bent only hardwood. Most free pallets are made of softwood.

steam the boards and they will become more flexible (use hot steam). thats how boat builders wrap board around boat hulls!
Is there a difference between hot steam and cold steam??
