    Side note: Wear good tall socks when first practicing this or you'll burn the top layer of ankle skin clean off as you slide around. Speaking from a humiliating experience. 😂

    Thanks so much for doing a video on this. I think so many people just assume it’s understood. It feels unnatural and after taking up skating a few years ago I still don’t know how to do it. I should have learned ages ago. I’ve gone through a lot of wrist guards falling the wrong way. At least I had those guard, but time to learn knee slides.

    That pro-tip about taping your shoelaces is very valuable. I watched your Knee slide Part 2 video yesterday and tried to knee slide in a quarter pipe today. The techniques you demonstrated worked very well, but yeah the laces of one of my shoes were destroyed :) I also noticed that the toes / tip of my shoes took a beating as well, but not that bad.

    Great video JB, I was wondering if you could chime in on your thoughts on wrist guards. It seems wrist injuries are the most common thing I see at my skatepark so I was thinking about investing in a pair, my main concern though is how to properly use them while riding as the plastic part obviously will make you glide.
    Thanks again for sharing such amazing content!!!!

      Learn to fall or bail into knee slides or spin to your back Only. Then elbows if you have to dive forward. Stay off of your hands as they’re too important and you use them daily. 💙🛹💙

  • @hostnik777
    @hostnik777 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Why do you push off your last step? What happens if you don’t? And how do you know when to knee slide vs just running out?

    • @SkateparkLessons
      @SkateparkLessons  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You push off your last step to change direction and transfer your energy of the fall across the ground, instead of into the ground. Much like if you drop a glass bottle or roll it across the ground , both at the same speed.
      You’ll learn to run out most of the time but better safe to learn knee slides as a reflex when learning new tricks and big tricks 💙🛹💙

    It looks like you deliberately kick the board away from you before bailing into a knee slide. Is this something you also need to think of, to avoid getting the board under you or something like that?

    • @SkateparkLessons
      @SkateparkLessons  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You definitely don’t want to have anything in your way when you knee slide. As you practice you’ll find what works bests for you and keeping the board away from you when you bail.
