I saw my first GG video last week, and I thought you guys were from an alternate universe. One week later, this is now undoubtedly my favourite youtube channel. During the week I added a couple of new sports coats, pastel dress shirts, and various coloured sweaters and chinos to my collection, and just a little more time each day in consideration of layering combos...and voila! Instant confidence. I went into a menswear store and the female attendant was absolutely frothing over my 'amazing' sales job 😄 The best thing? After a couple of days of dressing better at work, I turned up today and all the guys at the office were looking sharper too! Cheers GG team.
This is so cool. I've become super interested in the construction, design, care, and repair of shoes over the past few years, and getting an in-depth peek into a bespoke shoe commission like this is absolutely fascinating! Can't wait for episode 2.
@SPNKr "Custom tailored completely from scratch" is the definition of bespoke. If he's never had that done before, he's never had a bespoke suit done. His pinstripe navy DB is Ralph Lauren Purple Label. He's said this many, many times. Who's the noob to this channel again? I stand corrected on the grey three piece. I think that was bespoke, and it raises the question: what kind of lunatic chooses _that_ as his first and only bespoke suit?? *EDIT: It looks like that may have been some kind of advanced MTM instead, as it has a front/rear balance issue that a bespoke tailor would have been able to solve* I still think that it behooves dear Raphael to have something a little more normal made, and document the experience.

What a great video Sven. I learned so much and always do with your videos. What a gentleman, thank you🙏 By the way, love the socks from your collection, I just purchased the same ones
Awesome! If I could afford it I'd definitely get a bespoke pair of shoes. I have very flat and wide feet, so sometimes finding a shoe that fits well is a bit of a chore.
I just added Amara to my reference file ... nice to know a custom shoemaker is local. [US woman's size 6.5 EEE here.] Speaking of local ... I would love to know of any good clothing services (cleaners, cobblers, etc.) in the Twin Cities (the closer to Uptown or downtown, the better). I moved her just before the lockdown, I just started working from my "traditional office formal" office downtown, and I'm wearing my business clothes again.
I am learning to use unnumbered tapes when doing proportional drafting for 17th century clothing. It's a very easy and straightforward way to store that information for future use. Much easier than storing patterns and much more intuitive than writing tables of measurements down on a piece of paper and having to pull out rulers, later.
I know so many people in their 50s who purchased shoes (most of their lives) based on the look and less on the health aspects of the shoe. Bunion surgery, knee replacements and more result over time when ill-fitting shoes result in toe misalignment and joint injury. One thing I noticed is your artisan measuring your foot is not identifying / addressing issues like toe splay or heel-to-toe drop. I would want my custom shoes to play a role is keeping toe alignment correct and not simply replicating less than healthy toe splay. Thanks for thoughtfully explaining the process.
Very interesting. I just started working in shoestore myself that specializes in shoes for people with different types of foot problems. If I had the oppertunity (and let's be honest, the money) I would love to get a pair of dress boots made.
my feet size are a 8 wide to extra wide. But usually I go up to size 9 wide and that suits my needs on all my shoes, other then loafers. For loafers I go half a size down and get insoles inserted for more comfort.
Hey gentleman gazette do you know any dress shoe company that sell plastic free synthetic free shoes. Basically from outer shelling to laces insole outsole dye and waxed thread it's all made of natural material.
Good description of the process, although I would rather have just watched the process. I haven't seen a woman doing the process so this would have been a great opportunity to allow her to express her art.
I don't understand why bespoke shoes should cost thousands of dollars. I get my footwear bespoke at a local shoemaker and they usually charge me around 100-150 bucks for a pair of cap-toed oxfords and 200-300 for calf-height engineer boots. All bespoke, with the multiple visits to ensure fit and all.
On a visit to Hong Kong about 10 years ago, I had a couple of pairs of bespoke shoes made up. It took 5 days. (The shoes are still going strong. They have not needed a resole yet, as I don't wear them all the time). They keep the last. 3 years ago I had a couple more made. I did not need to visit. They sent them to me. They cost around $400 - $500 US. I actually bought a pair of shoes off the rack last year. I liked the design a lot. It did feel strange wearing them compared to the bespoke shoes, that fit like a glove.
I wonder if there is any shoemaker bold enough to do a bespoken minimalist shoe. By minimalist I mean zero drop, wide toe box and other cardinal sins to the "dapper world"

Great to see some actual bespoke content on this channel. Raphael should get a bespoke suit made next; it seems odd that he doesn't own one.
We've got a deep dive on Raphael's first custom suit coming soon - stay tuned!
@SPNKr lol read the reply I got from the actual channel maybe? He doesn't own one - unless you can show me a video in which he says otherwise.

@SPNKr No worries. But you should familiarise yourself with the idiom about glass houses.

Great video! Clear with a lot of details and slowly presented. I'm curious about the price of the result 😉

Wow. I had just left a comment asking what shoes these were yesterday and this video came out today lol.
Well done🏅 Elegant, Classy, Thoughtful presentation ✨ Thank you so much!🍷Cheers!
Very cool to see the process, been interested in this topic since off the rack shoes are never quite there for me
That’s me on the width I get a size bigger cause no one has it wide enough
I need to come up there and have you go shopping with me to help out my look
Bespoke, like a Rolls Royce? Fancy!
Great video
As a mix race guy I have a very bizarre and out common size when I want to buy a new pair of shoes I usually ask for the biggest and sturdiest.
Can i pair a dress pants with boot if so please tell me what type of boots I'm eagerly waiting⏳
Craftsmanship, that is a rarity among the living.🤔🤔🤔🤗🤗🤗
Hey gentleman gazette do you know any dress shoe company that sell plastic free synthetic free shoes. Basically from outer shelling to laces insole outsole dye and waxed thread it's all made of natural material.
Talking about orthopedics, do you have an opinion about barefoot shoes?
is there a reason you say shoemaker not cobbler? are the two meanings different?
Ok this can actually be an ASMR Video as well
I am one that take shoes off at work. We have to dress up at work so I were dress socks
Why should you even have to measure the feet when all you have to do is make a custom-last based on a person's foot mold?
"Others have done this" and then its 80% kirby, gotta love it
My dad has to get special made shoes 👞
👍

Anyone knows what's the intro music?
Runs the entire video, btw
Just like the shoes, our music is bespoke for the channel! :)
I seldom find shoes that fit well. Unfortunately I find out after wearing them for a day or so. Waist.
"Other videos lack certain parts of the process" -- and then you have to pay to see the actual video of the measurement proces...

It’s not bespoke assuming you live en Europe or America.
Where do you live?
Could you please tell me where your local shoemaker is.

Now you need bespoke socks. They probably take longer to make than the shoes.
"Bespoke" and "Curated" are now overused words (often inappropriately) by the same people who cannot differentiate between 'then' and 'than'.
Sneakers are better
For doing sports.
I wonder if there is any shoemaker bold enough to do a bespoken minimalist shoe. By minimalist I mean zero drop, wide toe box and other cardinal sins to the "dapper world"
Do I get it right that zero drop essentially means a shoe without a heel? I wonder, why would one want such a shoe? Would it be comfortable to wear?
@@rocunec it is super comfortable and the natural alignment of the body. The idea is to get close to a barefoot experience while still wearing shoes.
