My best fitting shoes were a result from a last created from a trial pair because I have really challenging feet. Since then, I have never gone back to off the shelf shoes. Sure, bespoke/made-to-measure is very expensive but I simply buy less and also throw away a lot less than before. I don't miss the days of stretching out a shoe for weeks or months just so they can be tolerable.
One reason a trial shoe may fit better is the cheaper leather has more give. So while it seems better, the final shoes will hold the shape longer and wear better. I had my first shoes I made worn out of the shop with being trial shoes. Of course it was no charge as they were not intended to be used.

Could someone please tell me whether it will be appropriete to wear them daily to office with a black three-piece suit or this type of shoes is not formal enough?)
