From time to time, I do not have an issue with what Schuyler says, or feels regarding a given comment, and today is going to be almost that way. In this case, Schuyler is spot on with his understanding, and opinion of entitled people who didn’t do what their fathers and mothers did to have them have an entitled life who ever is spewing negativity to the point where this person feels that he has been done wrong, needs to rethink the action with the heat 18 and if someone has been dutifully taken care of the financial needs of the child that they have with someone which does not mean the mother gets to stay home and sit around and wait for the check to come in and then lie to the child

My first month in my own apartment, my lights were turned off. I went to my grandmother, looking real pitiful for money. Instead of a check, she gave me some candles, sterno, eggs and rice. Then she told me, "A few cold showers won't hurt you. And I bet you'll stop chasin' them gals." My lights ain't been off since. -- STOP the coddling! --

This is funny to me. When I got the letter in the mail I passed my bar exam. My parents gave me a mini celebration (cookout). At that cookout, my mama,s brothers and her sister combined to give me $7,000. My father’s four brothers and two sisters gave me a thousand each. My parents gave me $15k. I literally had $28k to do whatever I wanted with, free of charge.
However, the next day my father, his brother, and I went fishing. My father asked what did I plan on doing with the money. I said by a new car. My uncle asked, “is something wrong with your car now?”. I said no. All my uncle said was, “hmmm”, and turned his head.
So, my father said, “remind me where you’re living again, son?”. I looked at him confused, but I said “in my apartment”. So daddy said, “let me get this straight. So you have this much money, your car is good. You’re internship is about to turn into a job since you passed the bar, you don’t have student loans from undergrad, and you were a paid intern at your company. So, you’re giving money for rent to pay for someone else’s equity at a place you can’t make your own because you don’t own it? The first thing you want to do is buy a car? (Looks at his brother) Did I do something wrong, or is your nephew that dumb where he isn’t thinking? Tell me because I’m confused?” Hahaha
So, my uncles answer to daddy, “I don’t know. I know how y’all raised him. So, he must be dumb. Because if I had that money, what I would do is use it as a down payment for a house and build my own equity. Save me a few thousand and build up my savings account. Invest in some CD’s and IRA’s. I mean, that’s what I would do. But , hey, since he wants to give money away, I should take my portion back, whatcha you think brother?”. My dad says, “yeah that sounds like a plan. Maybe ll cancel my check until I hear a better answer other than buy a new car! “
In other words, my father and his brother were disappointed because they would have though I had a better plan for the money. Even though they weren’t talking directly to me, they were teaching me to stay discipline because it’s information they have already taught me. So, I ended up doing exactly that. Down payment on a house and the rest in savings.

The main factor is you listened to them and developed a positive plan for your future that makes sense. Congratulations... Many of our Youth need such Lessons from the Male Family leaders, or women....It is so important.. It is Legacy Building in Family constructing Solid wealth growth foundations....Even saving small amounts of money 💰 can build future wealth. I divorced him and paid for my divorce . Raised our only son from the time he was two . All I asked the judge at the divorce hearing that he put our son on his health insurance and pay me $ 60 .00 per week in child support because I was considering his financial situation .The judge ordered my husband too pay $75 dollars per week in child support and put my son on his health insurance . And guess what ! My ex- husband couldn't do that little bit for his only son . But I forgave him and moved on with my life. . And my son is working hard to own his own trucking company. Had to think about this...
I grew up in NY so a car was a luxury
      Plus
The only car we had my father needed to drive back and forth to work...45 mins vs 1 1/2 hrs on mass transit.
I have to think environment matters as well as income level.
When my kiddos were driving age and we moved South, things were different (my wife needed to learn how to drive --- many New Yorkers never drive) so we had two cars that we shared...
What I tried to do was getting them to get that stuff doesn't come easy..I grew up in working poor environment where you had to hustle for the little things. Summer jobs, the whole bit.
As I grew up I realized that wasn't a bad thing; I learned to appreciate stuff, yet times are different. 🤔
      Boomers, GenXers, Millennials. 😳
      Did I get it right?
All four are doing fine and doing their thing.

That's because the children didn't listen to what their parents had taught them about business instead they listened to their self serving friends and white counterparts who eventually wound up with the businesses, real estate and everything else. Some of my friends were set for life by their parents but decided they knew better and obviously they didn't. 50 cent's grown son will learn a harsh lesson about expectations from others to serve himself because life lessons never takes a day off.
