Shadowed Cells Montana’s Prison of the Damned

  • We were fortunate enough to take a deeper look inside the old Montana State Prison, with its hidden tunnels, shadowed cells and solitary confinement.
Constructed in 1871 by the convicts themselves, this was the first territorial prison in the USA. Trap doors lead to a warren of dark, haunting surveillance tunnels. The chilling black box cells where inmates were locked for up to 10 days. A mattress, wool blanket and a honey bucket were the only items provided! What other secrets does this foreboding prison hold?

Loved that place! May have seen it in the 70s. Is there a corn palace in that town? Haha. Steve on the toilet! Good one. I can see why that guy liked working there. One time I got arrested an had to work for the county, but i got to pick where. I chose the old folks home. They thought i was crazy because nobody wanted to work there. I had so much fun! It got over to fast. They gave me credits for a good job an i think i was only there 2 weeks. Got tore down after that an i was so happy i worked there. Is there a corn palace in that town? Get to go camping with the girls this week. So excited! 4 days. It's been 2 years i think. Loved the lady in the mail room. Someone had fun making her i bet. Those shoes with the cement where like the shoes i have from a old folks home/insane asylum an jail. But mine don't have cement an i found them in the jail closet with the mans name pinned on them. I learned it from an Alcatraz Tour Guide.
