They're decades old, they were never intended for "trail" use, yet they performed admirably. These machines never cease to amaze me. 1980s Honda engineering and build quality is legendary. My first elite was a 1984 CH125 (only year for 125cc) Deluxe (with the pop-up headlight) that I literally found sitting upside-down on a scrap pile. It looked like sh-t and hadn't run in years...but it was free. After a new battery, sparkplug and a carburetor cleaning I hit the starter button...nothing! Not a click, not a groan...nothing! Thinking I'd made a big mistake, I called someone I knew who was into scooters in the 1980s (picture mohawk haircut, black leather everything and Doc Martin boots). He asked "Did you push the footbrake?" Noooooo. "There's a starter safety switch on the footbrake." I ran to the garage, pressed the footbrake and hit the starter button! It cranked! After about 10 seconds of cranking, the old girl sputtered back to life! I checked to make sure the rear wheel wasn't touching the ground and gave the throttle about 1/4 turn. The good news is that the engine revved up smoothly, the variator worked and the rear wheel spun effortlessly. The bad news is that all the mouse/bug/etc crap that was inside the muffler came flying out the exhaust...all over my furnace and water heater. I replaced the rusted gas tank, bent wheel, tires and seat cover. The bright red paint had faded to a Barbie pink after years in the sun, so I gave it a "nailpolish red" respray. That's it! I rode that little scooter for 2 years without doing anything else (except oil changes) to it. I sold it and bought a 1987 Helix...but that's another story.
This was great! I could have watched hours of this stuff. You should put together all your footage of this trip and make an Adventure Daily movie and have out takes at the end.
There’s an area called citico not too far from there and it’s like all the backroads on the backside of Gatlinburg that follow the creek except it’s gravel and dirt and goes for miles. You’ll see a lot of adventure bikes there
That was pretty good! Thats my favourite music to use in motorcycle edits. I saw a meme about adventure bikes vs local's bikes and this video made me think of that
Cool ride! I am hesitant to take my morphous of road.. mostly because of the 4 inch clearance! But I love me some scooters.. the elite series and the helix are awesome bikes! Love my morphous tho!
Just got lucky got a 97 mint condition 4.2k miles for 1k$ thank you for helping even find this little gem I had only been looking at forza but those where way out of my budget 4500-6500k
It seems like you work so hard to live a fun and free lifestyle man. It’s Inspiring, but also, I’m like.. “How in the hell do you do all this stuff??” It’s wild how much stuff you actually do in order to live your life to the fullest. You are an extremely capable individual. Keep it up brother 👏🏼
Living in the Center of Bavaria where you get sued or probably shot if you dare to drive offroad, i am closer to search a Job in the states with every Video coming from you. Keep it up 👍
I’ve got the same Red Elite Deluxe 150 But Your Channel is the Shit! I Love Your Channel. I Subscribed Because The 80’s Thing Got Me Hooked. You Had Me With The 80’s Music. So Creative.
Here in Australia the postal service use those Honda CT110's as a postmans transport. We call em Postie Bikes. there is a big rally where people ride them 3500KM's (2174 MI)across the desert.
How do you like the Helix? Is it too big for a first time rider? thinking I should start with 50-80cc, but damn I want the helix lol. I'm also only 5'6 so I wonder if it's literally too big for me
LMAO Tanner- Seriously dude - you are one slip away from loosing a toe, or gravel rash city. Not such a great example of safety for the kids. But hey love your content.
