Bro i bought a 88 2.0 si recently and am a paranoid person. With part availability/age etc. I get less nervous watchin you fix shit. These cars are just so cool looking and feel so good driving you saying if you gotta swap you'll swap is inspiring🤘 keep up the good work!
Stoked to hear that. Don’t be afraid to get in there. Just familiarize yourself slowly with what’s under the hood. I promise you spend an hour staring at the motor with Google in hand. You’ll come out of the garage a scholar. 🫡
Hellll yeah Connor I’m so happy to see new prelude content and finally in a garage! Bummer about the metal shavings man but there are genuinely so many routes you can go with an engine swap, especially with your knowledge about this car. Cheers and good luck!
Super happy to see you have a garage now. Always hated to see your cars outside and using a jack outside. As a car person, a new garage spot can make you happier than a new house. My 5th-generation Prelude currently has a gas leak, so I have a few spots on the floor too. I just bought the car one month ago and just purchased a beautiful used OEM tank for $500 from someone in California. In PA, salt is our worst enemy with rust. The tank has rusted around the brim where the plastic cover clips on and allowed a pinhole to form. It would leak about a quarter-size drop per day. We had a full tank (15.8) gallons and just siphoned it today. The fuel pump assembly looked great and wasn't rusted. I'll be replacing the pump and strainer. I put stainless steel flange nuts, so we won't have to worry about rust again. I have recently developed a fetish for stainless nuts and bolts. I'm going to paint the new tank with primer and then gloss, oil-based paint to help protect it. New straps and stainless bolts. I'm just going to pay to get the tank installed. The rust is actually pretty bad on the body around the tank, but we'll see what we can do. I currently have to take care of the fenders and the edges of the rocker panel. Once the rust gets bad in the corner of the rocker panel, the body is inevitably compromised into the future. Good luck and God bless.
Very nice to see the lude... always spray pb first, old bolt will strip or snap...idle issue prob hose or gasket...with car running, spray bottle w soap in it, check gasket edges n hoses, look for bubbles... axle seals normal wear n tear, you'll do them again down road...you can pop axles out w/o removal, with tires off, if I remember correctly...nice garage, good air, spray every nut n bolt with pb...it will remove moisture build up...keep turning that wrench...one love
I'm so happy to see someone taking such good care of a 3rd gen - they're basically all but gone these days Makes me look forward to getting one someday :) Have you considered any engines for a swap yet?
Always love the Lude content no matter what it is 👍, wish there was more 3rd gen content in general on the TH-cam! Hopefully someday you can engine swap her to an H/F series or B series. The H/F series and B series engines have racing heritage and are the best options currently for keeping her on the road long term, I love the old school Honda VTEC engines there’s just something about them!! I would try and find something lower mileage from a reputable JDM engine/transmission importer like Honda motors online… I H22a swapped mine with a full suspension rebuild 3 1/2 yrs ago during the 2020 COVID summer after 2 1/2 yrs or so of acquiring everything I wanted for the swap, I’m very blessed and worked hard to achieve that dream, it put me in some debt for a time but was 100% worth it… Prelude Engineering now sells the H/F and B series mount/bracket kits and is where I would recommend purchasing a kit from👍
Glad to see more prelude content! Im in the middle of a B18B swap on my 91 prelude and so far even before starting the car the after market availability has been amazing in comparison to stock, if a swap is the way you're going there are some good options out there!
I just got a 92 accord ex as my first car, but I really want to own a 3gen prelude in the future. it sucks that there are hardly any part for these classic cars
Soldering was allmolst good. Just put some tin, then touch&heat a jointadding Your videos are inspirng me to start my BA4 princess restoration. Concider F22BX From mid '90. I have no problems with my SOHC F22B whatsoever. Dimensions, just liike H22. A lot of know how, pricess are decent, power as well (around 150HP) And it's gonna last basicly forever. Just don't give up, we got Your back😁
@@ConnorLee Yeah Great Tip then the bolt gets nice and lubricated and then you can rock it with more confidence lol and still pray 🙏 they don’t brake lol
If I have one suggested motor for the prelude, it is the high compression, fuel Injected B20B, comes in the JDM 1st gen CR-Vs and has in and around like 150hp, I plan to do the same with my Prelude eventually, the only problem is you'd need a new 5 speed hydro transmission to go with it, one from the 3rd gen integra or from the 7th gen Civic I think. Its a really great swap, tons of information on the forums about it and possibly could make your prelude 10x better.
Whats good Conner, enjoying the vids, ive just got a 89 carbed myself. Damn I'm feeling silly for not checking part availability. I have a couple questions, what was it that you put in before your oil change, and why? also what on earth did you do for bushings, im going to have to find your vids, im struggling to get the top arm bushes. my MOT is coming up and i need to replace 90% of the rubbers. heh
Just a Lucas additive or stabilizer if you will. Also the bushing are poly bushings for the upper control arms. I do have a video or two on doing them! Cheers friend
What adjustable coilovers would you recommend for our 88-91 ludes?.. Im leaning more towards BC Racing coilovers even though there rather expensive!.. do you know any other coilovers that will fit these ludes conor?
I have megan racing coilovers. They have done the job since 2019. Not the greatest but they done the trick. K sport is another alternative a lot of people run.
It’s looking like they have to come from another Lude. I’m not seeing any for sale for 3g unfortunately. Hop in the Facebook groups, I’m sure somebody is parting out brotha! Happy wrenching and hunting
Hi newly watcher but i also have a 1989 honda prelude and I'm having trouble with it. The engine turns off while I'm driving even when I'm in neutral and/or have the clutch in. I'm just confused i recently changed the distributor and just today i heard a pop as i was driving in 2 gear. Any help would be appreciated 🤟
@@ConnorLee yeah, they're definitely somewhat intense the 1st time. But ive done a few swaps. Which ever motor H/f series or civic B series. I forgot the guy i got my mounts from retired so be sure you can aquire the appropriate swap mounts.

Don’t stress to much about it man, most things that break commonly you can still get upgraded parts for, especially the 2.0

You hit the nail on the head. Yes it’s sucks, but it will drive me to push through with this build
Watching this in my black on black ‘88 Prelude Si ❤

Just got my very first 88 prelude. Been watching your videos way befor I even got one. Keep up the videos
Congrats man! What color? What motor. 4ws? Do tell!

Looking into either SI B or an H for the swap. Still have a lot of research to do first! Stoked your enjoying the ludey content

Ive been restoring a 90 type s for almost 10 years, i changed the color but other than that shes all original sitting pretty with 94000 km
Really an S?! How are you finding parts?
Wait…are the 90 S’s fuel injected?

you got this bro. You are one of my insprations and i know you got this man. also b20 would go hard and nice video :D
I’m leaning towards a b for simplicity sake but I might be better off finding a whole SI donor car to pull components from. We shall see!
@@ConnorLee im rooting for you man and im hype to see it turn out good
Awesome 💪💪💪 have checked for a o2 sensor socket so like that you don’t have to cut the wire
That’s a nice piece to have for sure! Would have made my bmw downpipe installs so much easier

The legend lives on!
Goonies never say die
My pops always showed when dealing with Rusty bolts after adding spray, Rachet screw back in and wait for bolt to cool down
That’s a great call. I’ve been spraying them and rocking them but maybe putting them all the way back in is the way to go
@@ConnorLee Yeah Great Tip then the bolt gets nice and lubricated and then you can rock it with more confidence lol and still pray 🙏 they don’t brake lol
heat what you are soldering first then apply the solder… electrical tape works but best heat shrink…
Would I hold the iron to the wires to heat them up before applying solder?

Very interested in this route. I’ll have start looking into prices to see what’s feasible
Check your thermovalve, it could be cracked. It is known to cause idle issues if broken
