They rushed her for this album. She had a whole album put together called problematique. Just before unholy became big that album leaked and all the songs were scrapped. But since unholy was huge her label was like we need to put out an album now but her whole album was leaked and she couldn't use any of those songs so she had to quickly come up with this album while unholy was still on the charts and she did the best she could
I know what this album would be because I heard all the snippets before and I love the songs. But I can see if it’s not everyone’s thing, it’s not the most cohesive lol. I do feel bad for Kim tho after her whole album was scraped by her label and now just made her put this out to get streams. I’m just glad she can put new music out though. Happy for her ❤

This album screams "too many cooks in the kitchen". I know she'll wrestle more creative control in her later albums as she matures, but for now shes at the mercy of her label and the internet as a small fish in a big pond. You can tell shes trying really hard to please everyone.

You do know she's been making music for many years, right? She had more creative control in the past and had already found a formula that worked really well. Nobody, who has followed her for many years, understands this release, same goes for pretty much all music critics. She gave away control to incompetent people in hopes of a major breakthrough, that's the only reasonable explanation.
I think the album is (incredibly) quite cohesive thematically. Since the album is called Feed The Beast and the beast being our cravings (mostly romantic and sexual cravings), every song talks about this desire. The order of the songs are kind of a mess, yes, but the theme is there. AND the cover being her impersonating Andromeda is a nice detail to add to the story imo. ❤
I really liked the album overall, even the weaker songs should be fine for most radio stations. A shame Kim might have produced an even better album without the industry meddling though… But it's definitely nice to hear her bringing back that Europop vibe with bangers like King of Hearts and Castle in the Sky.

I liked this album. I think it’s hard cause problematique was gonna be a good album and she wanted to incorporate both of that and the new stuff which gave the album no cohesion.
Problematique did not have that edge as much as this album. I actually love Feed the Beast more. She has more to give and I’m sure she’ll only get better. Claws is a HIT. We have to support her. She always has a vision and you know her tour is going to be amazing visually. Her strength is her vocals and play on sounds. Glad she went this direction as opposed to croissants and Paris ….:themed. I think a lot of people loved this album more.

I think those of us who have known of her since era one will see this as chaotic and all over. But being her first album under a major label, this is her introduction to many, and first albums are almost always huuuugely mixed on sounds. So I def give her some leeway on this album because it does have some great tracks and I know as her career progresses more of her classic sound will shine thru again
At 8:10 you said it best. This entire album concept is meant to be feeding the machine! The "generic push", is meant to be something thats considered mainstream, considering shes also tried to hit the main stream audience for years. Im very excited to see how people react to her more as she gets that push into the mainstream pop audience.

Here is the thing: every single song ist a bop and really great. However, there is no theme to the album. You can clearly hear which songs came from problematique. I feel like problematique was the better album but this is not Kims fault. Feed the beast has a weird compilation of darker songs and fun summer jams.
imo there’s some really good ideas in this album that could’ve just used some more refinement, which you really see shine in those songs towards the end that feel fully realised (claws, minute, castle in the sky)
love it. raw, honest, uncensored. this content is just what we have to expect out of record labels now, and its unfortunate kim is stuck in one now. hopefully she can squeeze the most out of it while she's in it, but we're just going to have to bear with it. My favorite song is BAIT and it makes sense because, like you said, it's basically just a BANKS song and i do listen to BANKS more than Kim. But the whole album feels like a really fun, zone out and dance kind of vibe. loved it Benn!

I looove the album, so many bangers, and just fun. Kim is not super heavy with meaningful lyrics and stuff, it's just to have fun and party and feel sexy. For sure it could be better if some songs would be replaced with songs like Claws, King of Hearts and Castle in the Sky, but it is still a great album full of bangers!

I really wish she worked back on the bunhead labels like in totl and clarity bc she rlly got to work the way she wanted to giving her albums so much more thought and serving vocals with this album I love the concept sm and ofc she sounds good but her label is def not letting her do as much as she can. I heard her sing live and that girl can sing and they just aren’t putting enough of her vocals on this track. I am gonna say Claws is such a strong track and deserves a single treatment. The other new songs are good too, but the problematique tracks should not have been included, maybe except Hit It from the Back. I felt other scrapped songs would have fit better. Hopefully the deluxe tracks will help make the sound more cohesive

Hiii, so I'm a huge fan of Kim, watching your reaction now, I think that even Kim was lost with the album, all the changes to the new label, problemátique scratch, she tried to save some songs, release something new and make the industry happy, I like the album, it's nice, but I thing that she can do so much better, in the next one I hope that she decides to please only herself, I release one cohesive project... I feel like she tried to make an album of still giving us what we wanted with problematique but also wanting to showcase the new music she’s been working on and excited about. You can tell the growth between the stronger ones and the not so stronger ones and as an artist I know that comes with time. My only wish is that if they went the route of combining the two concepts, to give it a complete different order. Listening to it sounded chaotic compared to other projects she’s done because I think we can all agree that one thing about Kim is she knows how to transition to the next song. We didn’t get that in FTB and I think that’s why it is off putting but it is definitely there because none of the songs are necessarily bad, just two different vibes I’m getting and no solid structure. I love it though and I love to see how happy she is to finally have these songs out.☺️ My favorites are Claws Minute Castle in the Sky BAIT Thousand Pieces

Ben, I totally agree about the album cohesiveness. She set the bar so high with Turn Off The Lights and Clarity, it's hard to go to this and be amazed. She needs to go back to her roots. There are some songs that are awesome, but I'm a bit disappointed in the overall project.
The concept is genius. Feed the beast feels like an album that’s we’ve already heard it gets old and it makes me sad because I know she can produce amazing songs for example turn off the lights I hope she can get more control of her music
I am really looking forward to her 2nd album just to see if it's different bc this album was very clearly rushed. I know she can make good music and that's why this album was so meh for me. A couple standouts (like claws and minute) but i really wouldve loved to hear the album she worked hard on

I felt the same way when I first heard this album. I just didn't get it. Cause I don't listen to this type of music either, but it did definitely grow on me, and it may or may not grow on you too. I did acquire a newfound appreciation for her though.
It's grown for sure! I'm just treating it as a Kim Petras playlist that's on shuffle haha, that way you can just have fun with each song, it's not my favourite project by her, but does have some epic songs!

this album was to generic for me and repetive, it’s a shame that the original album was leaked and scrapped, she has all the confidence and vocals of a top star, but this album is just so generic, i want her to go with a more original sound, it would do her so much better, that being said, even though this album wasn’t for me, i think and hope this will be her star turn, listened to her for years, she deserves that, and hopefully she can have a more consistently good next album

I dont know what you normally listen to/react to, I think I've seen one or two other videos of yours, but you seemed in a negative mood from the start. You actually acknowledged that halfway through the video. I mean everyone has their own opinion, but I'm unsure how you kept praising Slut Pop in comparison to Feed The Beast. Slut Pop has one singular song that _almost_ makes it to three minutes, most don't even make it to two. Those are some of her most throwaway, unfinished songs in my personal opinion. I feel like she just released that EP as a joke and to keep her name on people's minds via a little outrage marketing. I'm not saying the new album is perfect by any means. I myself would've definitely cut Sex Talk and Coconuts to put on fresh material instead and also put either Alone Extended or 2.0 on it. All in all you seemed very harsh. I'm not sure what you were expecting. Kim unfortunately has to play the streaming game, especially now that she's with a big label. That means short songs and songs that already have done numbers (Coconuts & Unholy)...

Don’t get me wrong. I love pop, I love Kim Petras’ music. But Feed the Beast just felt so off BRAND. It didn’t feel like her, it felt really generic. It felt like Ava max track (no shade). I strongly believe Problématique (scrapped album) would’ve been the way stronger choice.

You actually aware of the fact that Luke produced ALL of her tracks up til Unholy? 💀 This is literally her first project with the least Luke credits. If anything not working with him and the collage from very different albums thing Republic did is what caused this one to sound so disjointed.

Idk if you heard the version of claws that Vaughn Oliver produced (same producer as TOTL) but it was better in my opinion. Idk why they redid it. There is obviously stuff happening behind the scenes that she has little control over. Some solid songs but the album as a whole is a mess
To be honest the album title is so not catchy I'm expecting era 1 feels with clarity vibes but it honestly feels a sequel for unholy so it's a pass love her tho

Personally I really like this album it’s a good album to just bop to but I definitely see it wasn’t the most personal project to make but I understand after having something you worked on for a long time leak

Here is the thing: every single song ist a bop and really great. However, there is no theme to the album. You can clearly hear which songs came from problematique. I feel like problematique was the better album but this is not Kims fault. Feed the beast has a weird compilation of darker songs and fun summer jams.
imo there’s some really good ideas in this album that could’ve just used some more refinement, which you really see shine in those songs towards the end that feel fully realised (claws, minute, castle in the sky)

i like feed the beast and problematique. it just shows her range. tooo bad she cant release that album as well. but both slay
love it. raw, honest, uncensored. this content is just what we have to expect out of record labels now, and its unfortunate kim is stuck in one now. hopefully she can squeeze the most out of it while she's in it, but we're just going to have to bear with it. My favorite song is BAIT and it makes sense because, like you said, it's basically just a BANKS song and i do listen to BANKS more than Kim. But the whole album feels like a really fun, zone out and dance kind of vibe. loved it Benn!

I looove the album, so many bangers, and just fun. Kim is not super heavy with meaningful lyrics and stuff, it's just to have fun and party and feel sexy. For sure it could be better if some songs would be replaced with songs like Claws, King of Hearts and Castle in the Sky, but it is still a great album full of bangers!

I really wish she worked back on the bunhead labels like in totl and clarity bc she rlly got to work the way she wanted to giving her albums so much more thought and serving vocals with this album I love the concept sm and ofc she sounds good but her label is def not letting her do as much as she can. I heard her sing live and that girl can sing and they just aren’t putting enough of her vocals on this track. I wish they didn’t leak problematique as that was very cohesive and rlly her and could’ve been a rlly great album but with this album again love the concept but if it wasn’t so rushed she could’ve have played with the concept a lil more and rlly had every track match the album excluding songs like “coconuts” “unholy” and “alone” and maybe even “brrr” “hit it from the back” and “sex talk” bc those didn’t rlly match the concept (but I luv them sm) honestly I don’t think fans would’ve mind if she took a lil longer to rlly go with the concept bc like the album cover is so stunning and this concept is rlly good it’s just the songs weren’t as good but still luv kimmy and glad she finally released songs that gave 2018 Kim 😣🙏
I am gonna say Claws is such a strong track and deserves a single treatment. The other new songs are good too, but the problematique tracks should not have been included, maybe except Hit It from the Back. I felt other scrapped songs would have fit better. Hopefully the deluxe tracks will help make the sound more cohesive

Hiii, so I'm a huge fan of Kim, watching your reaction now, I think that even Kim was lost with the album, all the changes to the new label, problemátique scratch, she tried to save some songs, release something new and make the industry happy, I like the album, it's nice, but I thing that she can do so much better, in the next one I hope that she decides to please only herself, I release one cohesive project... I feel like she tried to make an album of still giving us what we wanted with problematique but also wanting to showcase the new music she’s been working on and excited about. You can tell the growth between the stronger ones and the not so stronger ones and as an artist I know that comes with time. My only wish is that if they went the route of combining the two concepts, to give it a complete different order. Listening to it sounded chaotic compared to other projects she’s done because I think we can all agree that one thing about Kim is she knows how to transition to the next song. We didn’t get that in FTB and I think that’s why it is off putting but it is definitely there because none of the songs are necessarily bad, just two different vibes I’m getting and no solid structure. I love it though and I love to see how happy she is to finally have these songs out.☺️

Ben, I totally agree about the album cohesiveness. She set the bar so high with Turn Off The Lights and Clarity, it's hard to go to this and be amazed. She needs to go back to her roots. There are some songs that are awesome, but I'm a bit disappointed in the overall project.

I felt the same way when I first heard this album. I just didn't get it. Cause I don't listen to this type of music either, but it did definitely grow on me, and it may or may not grow on you too. I did acquire a newfound appreciation for her though.
It's grown for sure! I'm just treating it as a Kim Petras playlist that's on shuffle haha, that way you can just have fun with each song, it's not my favourite project by her, but does have some epic songs!

this album was to generic for me and repetive, it’s a shame that the original album was leaked and scrapped, she has all the confidence and vocals of a top star, but this album is just so generic, i want her to go with a more original sound, it would do her so much better, that being said, even though this album wasn’t for me, i think and hope this will be her star turn, listened to her for years, she deserves that, and hopefully she can have a more consistently good next album

I dont know what you normally listen to/react to, I think I've seen one or two other videos of yours, but you seemed in a negative mood from the start. You actually acknowledged that halfway through the video. I mean everyone has their own opinion, but I'm unsure how you kept praising Slut Pop in comparison to Feed The Beast. Slut Pop has one singular song that _almost_ makes it to three minutes, most don't even make it to two. Those are some of her most throwaway, unfinished songs in my personal opinion. I feel like she just released that EP as a joke and to keep her name on people's minds via a little outrage marketing.
I'm not saying the new album is perfect by any means. I myself would've definitely cut Sex Talk and Coconuts to put on fresh material instead and also put either Alone Extended or 2.0 on it. All in all you seemed very harsh. I'm not sure what you were expecting. Kim unfortunately has to play the streaming game, especially now that she's with a big label. That means short songs and songs that already have done numbers (Coconuts & Unholy)...
If she needs to play the streaming game, then thats how she’ll be critiqued, can’t have it both ways as an artists.

This is literally her first project with the least Luke credits. If anything not working with him and the collage from very different albums thing Republic did is what caused this one to sound so disjointed.
@@drewwhite3662he didn't produce all of her old songs, yes he has writing credits but she mostly worked with lil aaron and other producers as well. Its pretty distinctive when you compare her old stuff to now. Its just the genre she went for does not suit her at all
