@@ipMalik th for responding, @ 1:14, the command prompt will not open, it just goes to another screen which says " choose an account to continue" & only the owner is there, when I click that it just wants a PW . I tried the other option to use an image to recover but it's the same thing, it keeps going back to a PW request screen no matter what I do. 😭

Try resetting your password on the Microsoft website on another computer or phone: account.microsoft.com/account?lang=en-by by clicking "Forgot your password?" and follow the prompts from the system. After receiving the new password, turn on the computer (laptop) and log in with the new password. Internet connection required. I tried as you suggested but was unable to locate my windows installation folder through registry editor so ended up using Windows repair from my bootable USB to enter command prompt and then located the drive where windows was installed and used a command prompt to disable safe mode from there! Any problem: If you can't change the password on your account, because of an error starting with number 8 .... Do everything in the video, but if you see the command line, type ... a) net user Admin / add b) net localgroup Administrators Admin / add c) exit (thats all). As you log in, select the Admin account and you should see some files if ... Open the local disk where Windows is installed and open the Users folder there, click on your account, select Continue and that's it. It is possible that in your version of Windows the Shift key may help, but in those versions that I watched, Shift does not help. Instead of a forced restart with the Reset button, there is another and more reliable and proven way to open the command line. Take a bootable USB flash drive or boot DVD of Windows 10, not necessarily from your OS, any version, you can Windows 10 Pro or Home. Boot the computer from the installation flash drive (or DVD) and when the Windows installation menu appears on the screen, paste.pics/80CV4 press Shift + F10. @@ipMalik Yes I see now, older versions of the WIN10 OS could be overridden with admin password if you set that in the BIOS, but as far as I can see that doesn't work anymore, sorry! Your second answer, using the bootable media, does work, so unless there is no other option I would advise people to go with that. Do everything in the video, but if you see the command line, type ... a) net user Admin / add b) net localgroup Administrators Admin / add c) exit (thats all). As you log in, select the Admin account and you should see some files if ... Open the local disk where Windows is installed and open the Users folder there, click on your account, select Continue and that's it.

It is possible that in your version of Windows the Shift key may help, but in those versions that I watched, Shift does not help. Your second answer, using the bootable media, does work, so unless there is no other option I would advise people to go with that. Especially windows machines deal very poorly with sudden power loss, and this technique does still prompt me for a password at system recovery.

@@ipMalik I completed the regedit suggestions and restarted the machine but it went to "scanning and repairing drives" instead of loading command prompt. Is this normal?
@@ths109 this is not obscure ... are you sure you followed all regedit steps correctly?
I did every step right,but the user im tryna reset the password isnt showing and it has spaces.
