After watching this video I immediately picked up ‘This Is How You Lose the Time War,’ and I don’t think I’ve ever read anything so beautiful. Thanks for the recommendation! It’s so fun to be able to share in your excitement!!
'Maybe in Another Life' reminds me of an old Gwyneth Paltrow movie from 1998, called Sliding Doors. It's one of my faves, so it's cool to find that there's a book like that!
I didn't read at all in 2019, heaps of books you listed in this video sound super interesting, you're great at selling a books plot imo. Great video :)
This Is How You Lose the Time War is going to the top of my TBR. Hard sci-fi, plus lovely ladies in love... that's like all my favorite boxes and it's ticking them hard. Also, I need to go back and finally finish the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy. I loved the first two books, but got sidelined by something while reading the third and never got back to it. But talk about imaginative. The books were stunning. Thanks for the reminder!
I’ve watched multiple reviews of “scythe” but your description and review was the special one that made me want to read it and actually add it to my book wishlist 💕
I’ve read Good Omens and The Toll. Good Omens is so hilarious and original and The Toll was the perfect and unexpected conclusion to one of the best, in my opinion, dystopian series ever written.
It’s nice to see more genres than ya on your favourites list this year compared to what would of been on it when I first started watching you like 6/7 years ago i feel like you’ve helped mature my book taste along side your own, I turned 20 last year and I want to start reading a wider array of books so it always helps when people I admire recommend books I myself wouldn’t pay attention too :)
YAY! so many overlapping picks in my video too!!!! red white and royal blue was my top book of the year (although my ugly cry was in my bedroom instead of the kitchen haha)
Standing in the kitchen, sobbing while stirring pasta because I’m reading while cooking is a weekly event for me. I feel so completely understood in this moment.
i love how you explain the plot/synopsis of books.. now i'm definitely interested in Maybe In Another Life, Unhoneymooners, The Cruel Prince, Scythe, & Red,White&Royal Blue..
Red, White & Royal Blue was my absolute fave this year! I still have to get around to picking up my Good Omens book, its been sitting on my shelf staring at me judging that I've been reading other books
I picked up "This is how you lose the time war" right after watching this video and subsequently finished it in less than two days. Definitely a new favorite of mine. Thanks for the recommendation!
i love jude and cardan because cardan starts off as an asshole and then we get to see that he's basically a confused and sad child who's absolutely WHIPPED for jude, and jude is an unbreakable, hard-headed, stubborn girl who refuses to back down, and she essentially holds all their power in their relationship. i love it. their dynamic was really fun to read!
Good Omens is AMAZING! The book the show and I am TRYING to find where I can listen to the radio show because I've heard excellent things about it....but yeah. I'm obsessed.
Love seeing what made everyone's top list for 2019. Didn't have any books in common, but have a ton of recommendations now ;) The Toll trilogy sounds great!
"This book won't be for everyone. It's hard sci-fi but also a love story with very poetic language-" OKAY I'M SOLD oh wait- "There are all these different timelines-" YUP GOING TO THE LIBRARY RIGHT NOW BYE.
soooo....I won the bet. 😉 also your taste is flawless!!! Summer of Salt, RWARB, Folk of Air and the Unhoneymooners are all on my list too!! Yay!!! And I'm so glad you loved The Unhoneymooners its SO FREAKING GOOD!!!
I second This is How You Lose the Time War and Red White and Royal Blue (which I also read and reread in 2019!). The others are all new for me, though, so am looking forward to get stuck in!
If you liked Good Omens, you should seriously consider reading Douglas Adams Hitchhikers Guide trilogy. I read somewhere that Gaiman writing a book about Douglas Adams somewhat inspired his idea for Good Omens. The commedy style is very similar.
I knew it was gonna be This is How You Loose the Time War! I've been wanting that book so badly since I've heard you talk about it on twitter. I'm also so happy that you've discovered Neil Shusterman. He's been my favourite author since I read Unwind so many years ago. Arc of Scythe was amazing and he really nailed the ending. I didn't read too much this year but agree on how having romance just is what really seares a story into your heart. I'm the same way which why this year I lived for Anne an with E which is a TV show. Rivals to lovers found family.strong women flawed characters beautiful and uplifting. I want more of all of that in my life. You make me what to read all these books so badly. And I hope 2020 brings us both more stories to fall in love with!
Yay I love Good Omens! I haven't watched much of the series yet but I enjoy the book a lot. I also love Neal Shusterman's work. I need to finish the Arc of the Scythe series because I've only read the first two books but I can't wait to get to the Toll in 2020. I also can't wait to read This is How You Lose the Time War. It sounds like it'll work for me.
I finished reading Good Omens last week and immediately started watching the TV show, which is literally a perfect and faithful adaptation! Loved the story and characters and the humor so much! I am now Aziraphale x Crowley trash lmao
the toll has 700 pages??? definitely didn't feel like that for me. although the first half of the toll was AMAZING, the way the storylines connected was done so well, i felt a little bit disappointed as we were approaching the end. it just felt off to me. but i have to say that thunderhead is probably the best ya fantasy/sci fi book i've read in years.
I haven't yet read wayward son.... But yessssss I know I will love it and I recently completed red, white and royal blue it was soooooo soooooo awesome ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤
So RWRB was my absolute favourite this year, but that might be bc I didn’t read your favourite and I absolutely need to right now 😍😍 f/f sci fi awesomeness sounds like it would tick all of my boxes 😍😍 also sidenote; I absolutely love how you arranged all your cute gay books into a rainbow 😍🏳️🌈 might steal that idea for my own shelves :D

Rebekah Grace omg thank you 😊
When I ordered books last week I chose between ’The Toll’ and ’This is how you lose the time war’, I love Scythe, but lesbians...lesbians for the win
After watching this video I immediately picked up ‘This Is How You Lose the Time War,’ and I don’t think I’ve ever read anything so beautiful. Thanks for the recommendation! It’s so fun to be able to share in your excitement!!
yay i'm so glad you enjoyed it!!!
KAT I REALLY LOVE HOW YOU EXPLAIN EACH BOOK!!!! the passion jumped out
"They're friendly rivals."
I think you mispronounced husbands there, Kat.
MaskedReader lmao true

woohoo! hope you end up liking it!
When you were explaining the plot of Scythe I could feel the Hamilton reference coming as soon as you started saying it and honestly same
I read Arc of a Scythe in December and I can't stop talking about it. First book was good but from the second on... oh my! I'm in love
it blew my mind like ten different ways. spectacular.
Currently reading This Is How You Lose the Time War bc of your rec, and WOW. It was so hard to get into at first but WOW.
I’ve read Good Omens and The Toll. Good Omens is so hilarious and original and The Toll was the perfect and unexpected conclusion to one of the best, in my opinion, dystopian series ever written.
I’m sensing that you really the love rivals to lovers trope😂
I REALLY DO XD
kat you just sold me on so many books omg
Kat, your hair looks flawless!
thank you!

I just started happy crying when you talked about rwrb bc it’s just makes me so emotional when ever I think about it.
YAY! so many overlapping picks in my video too!!!! red white and royal blue was my top book of the year (although my ugly cry was in my bedroom instead of the kitchen haha)
12:35 when you started saying who lives, who dies, i also continued with who tells your story lol, great minds think alike, luv u kat

Ah I just finished Good Omens the other day and boy do I love David Tennant and Michael Sheen! My heart 😍
I’m in the middle of The Cruel Prince really good.
I finished it and it's actually really good.
I love listening to book lovers talk about books. 🧡 I also love your passion for the craft of writing!
Standing in the kitchen, sobbing while stirring pasta because I’m reading while cooking is a weekly event for me. I feel so completely understood in this moment.
I just LOVE your passion! It's so fascinating to listen to someone who's obviously in love with something.
i love how you explain the plot/synopsis of books.. now i'm definitely interested in Maybe In Another Life, Unhoneymooners, The Cruel Prince, Scythe, & Red,White&Royal Blue..
Wow it’s been years since I saw your videos, and I really missed them.
Red, White & Royal Blue was my absolute fave this year! I still have to get around to picking up my Good Omens book, its been sitting on my shelf staring at me judging that I've been reading other books
The whole video I was waiting until u mentioned red white and royal blue because I’ve been obsessed with it
I'm so glad you had a great reading year 🥰
thanks
I would have watched this sooner but I have an excuse, I finally stopped procrastinating and listened to Hamilton.
okay yeah that's the best excuse, you are forgiven XD
Soooo many good books on this list, and so many that I can't wait to get my hands on!
Forgiveness. Love and Light.
I read all the Folk of the Air books too this year and met Holly Black in November! She's so nice and Jude just means a lot to me as a character
I absolutely loved all your top 3 books!! Fav books of all time!
I just got back from the beach, and this video was a delightful surprise coming home. Love you ❤️

The last book you mentioned is definitely going on my buy list!
Good Omens is AMAZING! The book the show and I am TRYING to find where I can listen to the radio show because I've heard excellent things about it....but yeah. I'm obsessed.

awh thanks!! and happy new year to you too!!
I’d been considering picking up This is how you lose the time war for a while, but your comments have definitely convinced me... it sounds amazing!
Love seeing what made everyone's top list for 2019. Didn't have any books in common, but have a ton of recommendations now ;) The Toll trilogy sounds great!
Kat: Who lives, who dies. Me: Who tells your story? Kat: Who tells your story
SAME lol
When you spent all your money on Christmas gifts then this comes out and you're dying to buy more books.
I love your Zelda sweater so much
18:20 For a second all I could think about was RWBY when you said this. That would have been a twist if your favorite book of 2019 wasn't even a book.
LOL XD
The unhoneymooners was one of my favs this year too! Super cute!
Oh my gosh, I loved Maybe in Another Life! I listened to the audiobook when my son was a baby during night feedings and it was so good.
“Who lives who die who tell your story.” Almost freaking cried that song fuck
So happy that you had such a great reading year! Hoping to get to This is How You Lose the Time War some time this year!
"This book won't be for everyone. It's hard sci-fi but also a love story with very poetic language-" OKAY I'M SOLD oh wait- "There are all these different timelines-" YUP GOING TO THE LIBRARY RIGHT NOW BYE.

This video is not only making me want to buy carry on but also bump up cruel prince and scythe in my tbr list ✨
Ahhhh, Red, White, and Royal Blue. . . It's a great book indeed.
I HAVENT COMMENTED FOR A LONG TIME ON YOUR CHANNEL! HIIII KAT!!!!!
HI!!
I felt the same about Queen of Nothing but still think it was good overall too. Also loved the Scythe, Nevernight and Renegades trilogy's.

Omg I LOVED Maybe In Another Life!!! I also ate all the cinnamon rolls while reading it.
ooh yes, the cinnamon roll cravings were REAL XD
the toll has 700 pages??? definitely didn't feel like that for me. although the first half of the toll was AMAZING, the way the storylines connected was done so well, i felt a little bit disappointed as we were approaching the end. it just felt off to me. but i have to say that thunderhead is probably the best ya fantasy/sci fi book i've read in years.

Any thoughts on the cirque du freak series?
Oh my god! That Hamilton reference...see how something from the previous decade leaves such an impression?
So RWRB was my absolute favourite this year, but that might be bc I didn’t read your favourite and I absolutely need to right now 😍😍 f/f sci fi awesomeness sounds like it would tick all of my boxes 😍😍 also sidenote; I absolutely love how you arranged all your cute gay books into a rainbow 😍🏳️🌈 might steal that idea for my own shelves :D
So, more cooking with Kats in 2020?
maybe after i do a bookshelf tour.........
@@Katytastic oof
You saying “cooking with Kats” gave me the sudden mental image of two Kats running around in the kitchen making food using unconventional methods.
@@Katytastic what a travesty
i didn't finish my reading challenge either (and i did read Arch Enemies 3 times lol)
“more cathartic than i signed up for” MEEEE
*immediately adds This Is How You Lose the Time War to tbr*
yesssss
