  • An MQ-9 Reaper (Predator B ) takes off from Wheeler Sack Army Airfield (WSAAF) at Fort Drum, New York on 05 April 2012. The MQ-9 is from the 174th Fighter Wing which launches and recovers its aircraft at WSAAF.
    The General Atomics MQ-9 Reaper (formerly called Predator B) is an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), capable of remote controlled or autonomous flight operations, developed by General Atomics Aeronautical Systems (GA-ASI) for use by the United States Air Force, the United States Navy, the CIA, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the Royal Air Force, and the Italian Air Force. The MQ-9 and other UAVs are referred to as Remotely Piloted Vehicles/Aircraft (RPV/RPA) by the U.S. Air Force to indicate their human ground controllers. The MQ-9 is the first UAV designed for long-endurance, high-altitude surveillance. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_...

    (gotta love how she switches to a diesel engine 16:00) how heavy is she in the nose, to balance a turboprop setup that far back on trike?

    • @dylbowaggins4160
      @dylbowaggins4160 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have no idea and I'm talking out of my ass
      But I would guess that all the computer equipment and stuff in the front is pretty heavy. Because there's no gap or anything for a pilot, so it's more densely packed than a regular manned plane.
      But idk that's just my guess to a comment that's 4 years old😂

    In an open war it will be kept grounded. Airborne it'll be an easy target. Even WWII AA gun could bring it down.

      @dbarbour 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No it wouldn't. IT would fly under the protection of other assets, but it absolutely wouldn't be grounded... it would be rolling in on targets on Day One. Source: I'm an MQ-9 pilot.

    • @ChrizRockster
      @ChrizRockster 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Monel Funkawitz - I imagine progressive braking is hard in a drone as you don't get the sense of inertia as you do in a normal aircraft. Its probably hard to realise when to lift off the brake to arrest the deceleration.

    • @monelfunkawitz3966
      @monelfunkawitz3966 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +ChrizRockster actually it is done on purpose. brake check is on preflight.

    • @ChrizRockster
      @ChrizRockster 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Monel Funkawitz Makes sense. I suppose I took it for granted during my PPL as I was checking the brakes during taxi multiple times but not really conducting it against a check-list. You never really forget the first time you throw your instructor forward when you don't know how strong the brakes are!

      No sir, its an associates program (no degree is actually necessary to fly drones at this point) i was going for pro-pilot but i figured this was the up and coming field, perhaps bigger and better opportunities. Will still have a commercial pilots license and be instrument rated.

    Hello friends, I know it does not apply here, but regarding the shooting down of the drone in the Black Sea.....please, I want you to see the images of the DRONE's propellers.....they have 2 yellow stripes.....in the last one where it is folded you can't see these stripes.
    Look at the tail of the DRONE....the size of the vertical blades are twice that of the propeller.....how could it bend just one blade...with the speed they rotate and since I don't touch the V blades from the tail....?'''?
    They are from another Drone.......even the sky changes.....where are the images of the other 16 passes of the Sukoi....??
    Look for someone from the AIR FORCE... and explain it.

    As someone who has worked for general Atomics at home and in the field. This is nothing but a air crew training with inert missiles on an aircraft that is dated. We have moved into block 5.... 3 blade is history and you’re removing blue stripe ordinance(dud). Legacy landing gear. We are way into trailing arm landing gear. Maybe I’m only speaking from contractor side. I hope nobody’s still using this dated stuff. Especially in uniform they don’t get paid hourly to fix this lol

    • @MegaDanbo
      @MegaDanbo 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      McBears1 The US military has already successfully converted F-16s and other fighter aircraft into drones. They're most likely already working on new unmanned fighter aircraft, which could greatly outperform manned aircraft(no cockpit, no life support systems and no worrying about a pilot blacking out from Gs).

    • @McBears1
      @McBears1 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fleece Johnson I know they've done that as far back as WW2 using bomb laden aircraft guided to targets by radio control, TDN-1, US 1940s 1st total control UCAV with live TV feed, in WW2 plans were made to use drones to attack Japanese targets, in Vietnam over 3000 drone missions were flown plus US had the Teledyne ryan combat firebee jet powered drone in Vietnam which had an operator in a mobile van the combat firebee had sensors, a nose camera and standard surveillance or "combat mode" for the operator/pilot to choose from with maverick missiles and "stubby" guided glide bombs and even counter measures, to put things in perspective even the Israelis today have neither jet powered or stealth "flying wing" configuration drones -- like the X47,british taranis, chinese avic 601-s, a "flying wing" needs extremely sophisticated computers to stabilize in flight

    If America closed all its military bases down, got all of its fighter jets and bombers and helicopters and warships and aircraft carriers and rockets and WMD's, all its troops, Drones, artillery, all its guns, all the ammo and mines, all their rubbish, all their submarines and every other weapon of war it has around the planet and took them all back home, if the CIA stopped messing with other countries affairs, if America stopped selling weapons to any one who wants them and if it stopped all the boycotts it has in place, who would attack America, how would they do it, and why would they?
