Music and good campaign stories were the best features of Heroes 4. While i really prefered the actual gameplay (and combat) in Heroes 3, I still hold the 4. dear, because it has its own charm.

I thought having heroes (and being able to have multiple heroes) actually fighting on the field was really fun and interesting, and the units generally had pretty interesting abilities. Heroes 3 units seemed a little too basic and lacking in flavour to me. I like both a ton, but Heroes 4 is extremely underrated and Heroes 3 is probably a little overrated.
The thing i love about the music in this game is how it matches the theme they portray. Chaos for example starts with quiet, peaceful order then jumps up to energetic chaos then calms down to the remains of chaos...quiet and desolate. God i love this game and hommv
My favorite town. Nightmares are awesome. Medusas are awesome. Black Dragons are as awesome as ever. Tier 1 was less impressive, though. But that is mostly because I loved Dungeon in H3.
black dragons with full tactics can unleash hell for any unit regardless of distance. Medusas can kill anything with their gaze with the right numbers. PLUS CHAOS MAGIC TO UNLEASH ARMAGEDDON!!!!
Every theme done by Paul Anthony is like seeing the city from a traveler's eye. I just see it like it. I've got this feeling in every theme of any city. From 0:30 it starts as dreamy, ancient city and then in 1:12 he just realises where is he. The meduses are singing and laughing at his own stupidity and evil creatures are fooling him around. He enjoyes a pain and sadness in hearts of Chaoss minions.
just imagine: from the beginning till 0:57 is soft, nice, chilling music... its the scene for showing the Chaos city... from 0:58-1:53 the army is going to battle and getting in lines... in every flashing cut its bigger and bigger... at 1:53 pause for effect... and from 1:54-2:10 its like... BANG!!! all power released, nobody can escape, everyones gonna fall in the waves of this attack!!! 2:10 till end: leaving the battlefield victoriously... showing some fallen, corpses, etc... AWESOME MUSIC!!!
@@eshizhamsuev Thats a whole point. When you have strong group of dragons you can use them to block enemy units and deal damage to all of them by Armageddon. Its works better or worse depends of situation but its great in town fights.
Chaos forever man. Just grotesque buildings, violent and shadowy lifestyle. Theft, robberies and explosive destructions. No fuzz about this or that. Pirates ! This nation definitely knows how to outsmart others in the game.
Typically, Opera is applied to telling a story, meaning that the whole mood is changed to fit a stage production. In HOMM, its used solely for the sake of creating ambiance, which dredges a completely different feeling.

I like the t1 thieves and at least two thief heroes. Bandits I recommend having a few solo to pick items and one thief to steal and gather exp from stealth while second thief can be for scouting and path finding for your troops.
I always choosed Hydras cause fck mainstream! Hydras had a much cooler design and enemys cant restrike, they hit all enemies and the best thing not your own troops, if the enemy plays smart he will use your own dragons against you cause Firebreath hits everything in its pass :D. Also you can cast Vampires touch on them and than they became your enemies worst nightmare! And you had 2 per week and only one dragon :D #Hydraarmy
I'm not really a fan of opera, but when it's put in a Heroes game. Then it turned out to be a hole different experience for me. Magneficent combination!
Heroes 4 is a superior game! Heroes are not invulnerable(which makes sense, commanders can be wounded/attacked/killed during battle) , superior graphics where units don't move as if in frames, better spell\skill system, cool-looking resources and a caravan, not to mention that units can't shoot from behind walls anymore .Not to mention that you can't shoot units that are behind other units, which makes more sense as a mechanic, while in heroes 3 you can shoot just about anyone, which is kinda off. Basically, Heroes 4 is a finished product of a game, even if they wanted to make more ! Not to mention that you can put units on towers and you cant shoot through walls if too far, which is another good mechanic

TheCarlosVoid I don't want to split hairs with you over what a town is called. If you build a dwelling that produces fiery devilish units, it's an inferno building, looks very different to a necropolis undead themed dwelling, and looks stupid when it's built on snow.
sorry to come after a 4 year comment, but inferno on ice/snow is not stupid at all. In dante's divine comedy, the 9th and last circle of hell is an icy desert, its the place farthest from the warmth of god.
I don´t know if i can say about an evil aspect at greek mythology creatures. I think u can not consider these creatures from chaos alignment cause, to understand that, u have to analyze the theme propose of a town. In dungeon town these creatures are slaves. In chaos they are free to make the chaos where they want. The minotaur´s labyrinth, the many heads of a hydra, the medusa tregedy, the have fun of a efreeti, are examples of the chaos aspect of these creatures, freely aplied at a kaostow
When I was a kid i had no idea what I was doing with most games. Did not understand strategy so i ended up losing most of my games. But it opened my mind a ton.

But im saying that in Heroes 5 there isn´t a town that represent a chaos theme. A creature is consider evil according his its act; in chaos town they act in a way, in dungeon town in another way.
i compleatly nerded this game when i was 17, sat at school and tested witch team was the best, like you have 2 diffrent things to choose and i tested all seperated into where they belonged. and the hydra team won most cases.
Maybe there are some unofficial patches for this. Not sure but know that there is some overhaul done by fans but I never played it so idk how it works or need to be installed it add some skills even to ogre mage like sparks can be casted there by them and fix some graphics which are ugly.
agreed, although Stronghold from HOMM III reminds me more of a huge epic medieval castle than orcs. he should have made a more dark war oriented theme for that one, although he shouldn't have, because it is sooo beautiful ;P

haha, I still remember my first szenario. I played "Bebee Wolf and the three pigs" (I guess that was the szenario name) which was tagged as an easy szenario... well, it was not, at last not for a little kid. So I played endless turns and upgraded my castles until one of the pigs with like 500 Thunderbirds (or even more) suddenly through one of this nasty portals arrived... this was when cheating time began...^^ (and you have tho type "nwcFafnir" pretty often to compensate an army of 500 Thunderbirds and other tons of enemys)

Warlock town, Dungeon, Asylum - the best towns in the series! They're all connected and it all started in Heroes 1.
I kinda find thieves useful too because they are invisible to tier 1 units so I send solo thieves to pick up treasures throughout the map.
Tier one for asylum is pretty crap. Bandits are cool for scouting the map though
