As an English linguist and being a Turkish Cypriot (my native language Turkish)how long will it take for me to learn German fluently and at an advanced level in an intensified course?
Very important about German: it is actually a very easy language to learn and pronounce; that is if you know the exact writing and spelling rules, pronouncing rules and the grammer. Grammer is very important in the German language. In th past there were a book which was called "Deuschtsprachlehre für Ausländer" or something like that. Go through his book back and force several times and learn German Grammer like Mathematics as it is very systematic ... and you would get surprised ... All the other tips and advice which you are giving here are certainly very valuable ...
Do you know the author by chance? I was going to purchase the book, but I’m not sure which one it is since there’s multiple versions that come up in google.

German is very difficult to pronounce for French people.
As you know in German all the letters are pronounced and there is no connection between words, in french that's all the contrary.
As a french people, I am oblige to concentrate, contract my abs and my jaw to speak german. German is an extrem unconfortable and non-natural language to hear and speak for french people
I think there is no easy language to learn because it depends on your mother language. I have learned for 4 languages and i believe that.
@@art4_u Thats totally true. An English speaker would say Irish is an easy language to learn. Same happens with Aussie people who find easy to learn English.
"They speak too fast" is a complain which can you hear for nearly every new language :D When I as a German started to learning Spanish, I literally understand nothing for month . Than, bit by bit it went better. I started to understand people who did not speak too fast, and after another bunch of time I finally begun to understand Spanish in its normal speed and that can be very fast . Next step was to understand with a slighty different pronounciation or from another Spanish speaking country.
In language learning there is no secret. Keep learning. Sooner or later you will make progress.

I’ve been self-studying German on my own since 2021 but it’s interrupted because of work. I passed Goethe Zertifikat A1 by just using DW resources!! It’s my favorite resource, esp Nico’s Weg. I keep using it. My target is C1 😍 It’s great to watch this video. Thanks for sharing your personal journey! You have very useful tips!
How long have you learnt a1?
@@regimohuseynov9350 I prepared for the A1 test in 3 weeks by answering model tests! ☺️ But watching Nico’s Weg before that really helped me get familiarized with the language which made is easy for me to review for the test.

Wow!!!! You really hit it on point. I've been doing pretty much as you described in your video: Easy German, Nikos Weg, Tages Shau, different podcasts, German Documentaries History, Nature, and Science. And I did finally attend a private language school for 10 weeks for 3 sessions per week for 1 1-2 hours per session to help in the reduction of my accent, increase fluency, and of course work on my bad grammar. I still have a long way to go but it's paying off. Thank you for your guidance and additional tips in mastering a new language.

Zoe I found a new trick lately about listening (maybe helpful to me at least) I’m listening to podcast in a 1.25 speed (faster than usual) accidentally one day and i realized I can pick up some words even so its faster. Once I’m used to this speed after an episode I relisten to it in the regular speed, and its actually allowing me to pick up more words as it sounds “slower”
...great video setup ! ...learning German should be FUN and this is the way to learn fast !

German is so cool. The first language I tried to learn I think.
Too bad in college there was no support for it and the self taught community was way smaller back then.
Even the history professor for German laughed at the idea of me learning it lol.
To piggy on to the other poster, I think Farsi would be a great video. I don’t have any interest in learning it in the near future but I think Persian language and culture is wonderful and under represented!
