This policy MUST be amended. VOTERS are being duped. The current policy, not exclusive to CO, is
not fair to the voting public. These are ELECTED positions that will now be filled by an appointment
of the Governor. It smells really bad and has been set up intentionally.

@chrisredfield4017 oh well. Democracy is worth it. I don't like that we did not elect these people. Maybe there can be a penalty for pulling this kind of stunt to discourage it.

In fact, we Colorado voters just voted _against_ approval voting, because aside from broad humanitarian & union support, there was an unpopular person associated with the bill. We literally voted against having more effective votes, because of the cult of personality, rather than the content of the bill.

Unfortunately … as is often the case … most people did absolutely NO investigation into who this guy was.
I was an OTR Truck Driver when I first heard his name come over my CB Radio. At the time I had a very good laptop and wireless cellular modem and, at my next break, sitting in my sleeper I began to look him up. As soon as I got an idea of “Who” he was, I went directly to the Congressional Records of the State of Illinois followed him into the Congressional Records of the USA and found, by his “voting records” and his presenting or sponsoring “Bills”, that he had done precisely NOTHING and hadn’t served most of his Term of Office in either location.
Then, there were LOTS of pieces of footage of his various “talks” or speeches as a “Community Activist” and verifiable information of his lack of Academic/Scholastic Achievements as either Student or “Professor” …
It took all of 3 hours to decide “NO Way” … it took another 3 rest periods carefully looking for more information to decide “No Way in Hell”.
Unfortunately everybody seemed to be all in awe of his alleged “eloquence” and “charm” and … “Oh boy! We can elect a Black man (actually a Mulatto) as a PRESIDENT!!!”
I realized then that most voters were simply voting for “feelings” and were basically Stupid and THEN they Re-Elected him (OMG)!
Don’t get me wrong … Romney, and later McCain were honestly not much better but at least they had more on their resumé than “Community Activist”.

I don't care if it's a Republican or a Democrat, when a lawmaker/representative resigns, the people should vote for his or her replacement. "The U.S. House of Representatives shall be composed of Members chosen every second Year by the People of the several States...." Since "a constitutional republic is a form of government where the people hold the power but elect representatives to exercise it...." it should be a violation for an elected official to select a replacement for a resigning official. Give the people back their voice! Let them vote for replacements!
