Great tip on the exhale! Exhaling also helps you actually keep steady breathing and air flow. Some people have problems holding their breath when playing, so they'll be oxygen deprived and get more tired and breathless throughout the games. It's like other sports such as boxing and MMA, they exhale as they throw a punch. Exhaling helps release that breathed in air and allows them to breathe again immediately, and can help with power behind your hits
Thanks for another great video. Do you guys have a video on misdirection shots? I've been playing more players that utilize it-sometimes at a wildly high level-and I'm getting schooled. Really need to learn it (and how to anticipate and/or counter it). Thanks 🙏
Love the waist high return tip, will practice that. Would like you to go into game strategies i.e continue to reset to and let them beat themselves, how not to hit gober balls into the net ,etc,...
This is very interesting about retreating, bc I Have heard myriad times to stay up at the kitchen and not retreat-sometimes from very good players. Is this more of a subjective technique? Can it be more advantageous to stay up if you're confident you can deflect a shot no matter how hard? Or is it objectively close to impossible to deflect a hard shot from the harder hitters from that distance? 4:16
Agreed with Robert. Also they are more likely going to hit it down at you so if you're up and are lucky enough to get a paddle on it it'll probably go flying 🪽
At about the 5 minute mark in the video when speaking of retreating you retreat walking backward which in a previous video you said is a mistake. You had said “turn sideways and take a step or two back”. Which is it?

Thanks for the content! I am learning the sport and these tips are helpful.
You explain everything so clearly, good stuff
Excellent video, thank you
Just got the Sweatspot Pro for Christmas, and it is an awesome paddle!
Exhale with breathe seems so simple but a game changer, thank you so much.
Smart strategies for leveling up! 💪

First! free paddle please 😂

I like this sports, any advice for a complete beginner and a good paddle in the 50-100 prize range

I think its much easier to defend an overhead off a bounce than out of the air. Out of the air is most likely just a reflex action.

I had the yips on my forehand playing college tennis. Exhaling helped that so much
Im holding my breath hoping you don’t trip on that loose ball. 😱

Hack #6, always say BALL ON! 😆
I need to remember to keep moving my feet. I have a tendency to plant my feet then get stuck there.
The guessing tip will not work against me. Good luck! I don't even know where I'm going to hit it.
BALL!
Nothing is gonna boost me from 2.5 😅
that ball on the floor is so distracting.
I want the banger!!! Pls gift me one
Just learn to relax. It's not necessary to breath like that for pickleball. 🤦🏻♂️
Necessary? No. But it helps. It's an athletic technique. It's helpful to be exhaling on the release of energy, big or small. 🥂
