    I like this bag a lot for travel. Use packing cubes to help stabilize things inside. Fits under the seat in front of you on the plane. If you can pack lite (one other pair pants and three t shirts, for example) there is room to bring back small things like chocolates and souvenir t shirts. I use the bottom zip compartment for laptop and phone chargers.

    Very useful review. You ended up convincing me to avoid this one, and I picked up a peak design duffel for the same price.

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good call, it's kind of ridiculous that these two bags are the same price when the quality on the Peak Design duffel is way better. I just wish they would improve the backpack carry on the PD duffel.

    • @Jack_Meadows
      @Jack_Meadows ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@OneBagTravels Totally agree! I also have the 45-65L Duffel pack from PD which has phenomenal backpack straps, but is a little big for a weekend trip. I would love a smaller 35L version of the duffel pack that is expandable to 45L from them to round out the lineup!

    Hi.. I really liked your video. Awesome explanation. I am in the market for my new bag and I can certainly use your suggestions. Can you please suggest some options like all-in-one for Gym/Hiking/Weekender and padded compartment is must for 16" Macbook Pro. I prefer North Face but its doesn't have to be. :)

      Patagonia Mini MLC is a good all purpose duffel, gym, hiking, weekend with a laptop comparmtment.

    Did you ever do a comparison of this bag and the XS and the S Base Camp? This bag is listed as 32 L but the dimensions suggest it is actually closer to 40 L. Would appreciate seeing them side by side

    Hi, could you recommend a carry-on duffel bag with backstraps that can be packed into a small cube when not in use? In one of your videos your conclusion was the osprey transporter was the most comfortable as a backpack. I also like that it has a shoulder strap. Did you find anything better than this?

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Patagonia Black hole and Osprey Transporter are both good, also Jack Wolfskin Expedition Duffel, Thule Chasm. I'll be posting a travel duffel comparison post soon! 😃

      @@OneBagTravels looking forward to it, I hope it's very soon! One thing I'm not a fan of about the patagonia black hole is the lack of shoulder strap. I haven't seen the other two you mentioned.

    Hi, what do you think of the new Base Camp Voyager backpack which was released recently in 35L and 26L formats?
    I was about to get the Patagonia Mini MLC 30L but then I found out about the TNF and now I can't decide, the 35L seems better than both the Patagonia and this old Voyager 32L

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I haven't tried the new Voyager backpacks, but they look nice. The style is very similar to Mini MLC. The style is slightly different, more organization in the front panel, laptop sleeve in the main compartment. In general I've found the materials and quality of Patagonia to be better than the Voyager series, but they're still good bags. I'd probably base my decision on which bag has the features you like better. If you like the style and design of the Voyager, more small gear organization, then go with that. If that's not important and you want a bag that'll be really high quality and last a long time, external laptop compartment, then Mini MLC.

    Can the predecessor model (31 L. TNF Base Camp XS) be considered a personal item? This being a longer dimension kills the idea of purchasing this for personal item air travel.

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels  11 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Depends on the airline, but it will fit on a lot of them, definitely most of the US based airlines.

    I'm using TNF Base Camp Duffles for more than 15 years now. And the large ones. I saw the quality declining. My old one looking better compared to the recent ones after just few years.
    Overall, that one is a badly designed travel bag.
    Duffel bag, despite of the actual hype, are not confortable to wear on the back (and I carried one on my back with weight ranging from 10 to 30Kg, to travel with gear). In this case, the shoulder straps are attached to close, so you can expect pressure burns on your neck. The material is not going to hold for long compared to the Base Camp Duffle.
    Better Getting the Black Hole from Patagonia (Bag I bought too).

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting to see quality decline over time. Maybe these used to be better quality years ago. I'm kind of surprised these bags are so popular considering how the quality isn't comparable to similarly priced duffels, like the Patagonia Black Hole.

  • @GOTHEMIGHTYPIES

    You showed that you couldn’t fit your 15.5 laptop in the sleeve, but would it fit at all if you shoved it in a bit more?

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, I can get it in there if I really squeeze it and stretch the fabric out. I think this would damage the seam and/or zipper over time though. I think I would just put it in the main part of the duffel rather than trying to jam it in the laptop sleeve. My laptop is a few years old so may be thicker than other ones. A different model may fit easier.

      Yes, the end pocket doubles as a zippable storage pocket. So you can store it in your trunk in the zipped pocket, and unfold it when you want to use it.

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Smaller is better for Europe, smaller airplane dimensions, trains, buses, walking in cities, carry as small of a bag as you can.

    • @RonCecchetti
      @RonCecchetti หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@OneBagTravels is it big enough for two weeks?

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@RonCecchetti 32L is small, but it's easily doable if you pack right. If you haven't packed that small before it may be challenging though, and you're going to have to do laundry. Usually my advice is to pack for 7-days and do laundry. If you think you can get 7 days worth of clothes in 32L and you have access to laundry (or don't mind doing it in the sink in a hotel) then I'd go with the smaller bag.

    Patagonia seemingly refuses to innovate. The blackhole series is antiquated and cumbersome with horrible straps and unattractive styling.

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      They came out with a new version last year, changed the capacity from 45 to 40L, but didn't make any other changes as far as I can tell. But to their credit the bag is very popular, so why mess with a design people like?

    • @King.J
      @King.J 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@OneBagTravels I suppose that is true. Much if the same can be said of the original Basecamp Duffel. Why mess with a tried and true. The Voyager series feels like a nice evolution however not intended for the core adventure traveler.
