    I bought it and the backpack straps seem … wrong somehow … backwards … ???

    With Thule being a swedish company in mind, it's really hard to get the bag here in Sweden :(

    great review! Really enjoying your channel. Just curious how the actual volume of this bag compares to the 40l spec and to the revised patagonia black hole. Have you ever done a packing peanut fill test on this one?

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thanks! I haven't done a peanut test but it's a decent sized bag, I'd say it's fairly close to 40. The new Black Hole Duffel is gigantic, they increased the dimensions and that one is definitely above 45L now.

    Great bag! I use it daily as a backpack for over 8 months. No signs of wear. The only 2 problems I got are: no padding on top - it gets very sweaty on back at warm days. Only one big compartment on top, just one more on side would be perfect. Also I don't really like mesh on the lid - notebook sleeve would be amazing there. Hope there will be second version with all of those. Maybe someone knows such backpack? (opening must be at "up side")

      Tomtoc Navigator carries a little better than the Chasm and is basically a duffle style design.

    Great Review! Do you think I can fit a full face helmet in the chasm 40? Or I should go for the black hole instead

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The Chasm isn't as tall as the Black Hole, it seems like a full face helmet wouldn't fit

    would you recommend this over the patagonia black hole?

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They're both good, but I like the Chasm a little more. The fabric is thicker, the straps snap down to the sides, and the shoulder straps are wider. I did a comparison of several duffels, which included the Chasm and Blackhole, if you want to see them side by side. th-cam.com/video/jVtkFOv67bQ/w-d-xo.html

    Can you carry it on one shoulder/ does it have a longer shoulder strap?

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It doesn't come with a shoulder strap, but it has loops on the corners so you can easily attach one.

    If you haven’t already, could you do the peanut test to gauge actual volume of the Thule Chasm 40L ?

    I’m trying to decide between this and the Osprey transporter…! (70 & 65L versions) Which do you prefer and mainly why? :) thanks for all the great reviews!!

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Those bags are both great and very similary, I don't think you could go wrong with either. I would tend to lean towards the Chasm, but that's more personal preference in that I like the features over the Transporter. The packing is going to be slightly different, Transporter lid opens lengthwise, while Chasm opens from the side and slopes down a big, giving you easier access, neither one is better, more personal preference. I think the straps on the Chasm are better, wider and thicker padded. Chasm has a better top carry handle, where the straps also clip to the side which is nice. Transporter you have to carry from the side handle, which may be heavy on the larger size duffel. Quality, materials, on both these packs is similar, both companies have a lifetime warranty.

    Will the 40L-without being fully packed-fit under a plane seat?

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      No definitely not, it's more of a carry-on, but too big for a personal item

    I'm in between the Chasm 40L and Landmark 40l for international one bag travel, between the two, do you have a recommendation?

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Tough choice! I like the Chasm more as a workhorse duffel because it's so thick and well made, but it's pretty basic as far as organization. I use it for car camping and storing my climbing gear. I think the Landmark is a better travel bag because it has that top brain pocket, better back padding, and stowable straps.

      @@OneBagTravels, thanks for the reply, I've got some army duffles for car travel. This purchase is strictly for air travel. I think I'll go with the landmark. Thanks for the reply

    great review. how do you clean the bag? say if you take it to the beach and get sand all inside of it? thx!

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks! The fabric is thick and rubberized, shake out the sand and wipe it down with a damp cloth. You could also just hose the bag out and hang it to dry.

  • @spens3100

    Is it good when use as a shoulder bag ?

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's not the best as a shoulder carry. It doesn't have a shoulder strap so all you can really do is loosen the backpack straps and use those. It's works but isn't the best way to carry it.

  • @spens3100

    For Carry on in airplanes this one or the 70l its better?

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      70L is too big for carryon, it's better to stick to the 40L range unless you want to pay to check it

    how would you describe the shape compared to the The North Face Basecamp... which is more cylindrical? Is Chasm boxier in shape... or cylinder which is shape of the Basecamp

    • @OneBagTravels

      Basecamp is more cylindrical, the Chasm is more flat and wide/rectangular.
